Getting strange windows update error after re-installing OS

Getting strange windows update error after re-installing OS

So full context, I got hacked a few days ago one of those info stealers/session hijacker things while I was tryna download a game, stupid I know.

Anyway I changed the passwords and all and was just installing fresh windows on my laptop via bootable usb. Even while re-installing I ran into a restart loop error which I was able to bypass editing the registry however after booting into the fresh OS install I am not able to finish the windows updates there are 4 in particular that are just stuck with this same error you can see below.

I saw somewhere someone suggested it had something to do with update cache being full so I already tried stopping and restarting windows update service and background intelligence transfer service, did a restart like they asked but nothing same error.

I want to get past this before I continue setting up my device because I'm worried this is a some leftover from that hack or something I'd rather not think about it anymore. Please any insight is appreciated.

Device details - Lenovo Legion Pro 5 i7 13700HX RTX 4070 8GB Laptop 16GB RAM
OS version - 26200.9168

Laptop got compromised, what can I still save before wiping?

Basically fucked up a few days ago downloading a game from a site I thought was reputable probably clicked on a ad link. After some research Im thinking maybe it was a session hijacker or infostealer? I say it cz while I was playing something else I opened discord on PC for a split second and closed it and hours later discord got hacked sent DMS of crypto scam and someone tried to get into my Microsoft account too. I turned off wifi, I've reset passwords for all the major services I can think of but I've got some more to go that were saved to my google account but I don't use them often. At least none of the other services have seen any unusual activity yet but I can't rest.

Anyway my main concern rn is while I'm ready to reset my OS via bootable USB, I wanted to save some docs I had on laptop I may need in the future and it would be a pain to get new ones. As far as I remember it's photos, documents, pdfs and not any programs so is it safe to move to a different USB beforehand?

Also as part of the USB wipe do I need to have the drivers for the device separately on the drive or the windows installation will handle it?

Thank you in advance.

F**k this final boss

I have loved it this game but oh my god I'm just about done. My playthrough is approaching 140 hours which is CRAZY cz it is tied as my longest trails playthrough with Cold Steel 4 it made sense there it was the conclusion of like 6 games worth of build up but Daybreak is supposed to be a new arc right?? I just went with new arc expectations maybe around 100 hours max y'know like CS 1 and IM LOSING MY MIND HERE.

I've felt mentally checked out of the Alamata plot since end of chapter 5 like I was interested in what Melchoir was up to after sure but WHY DID EVERYONE ELSE come back. They put actual effort in explaining all the garden overseer's and executives backstories when you beat them in ch5 I spared all the lives I could because it's trails and I thought maybe they would have a Scarlet moment later BUT NOPE they all just erase all their character development, come back and go through the SAME development a second time before going down which I was so confused by like why? I don't care about you anymore you said the same thing back in Oracion, to hell with you I should've killed your asses back then. I don't even know how Olympia got her emotions taken away again and then her doll just repaired herself too and no one questions it. The guy who I saw dissapear I can't even remember his name the armor guy he was great back in chapter 5 cool send off with Judith too then he just comes back and they just have to cheapen his first passing moment by clarifying on his last words from before as if they needed clarification it ruined a really touching 'death' imo.

Now this final boss I've been prepped for Dantes but thought maybe there'll be a monster boss after y'know it's Trails and sure enough I'm right but THERES MORE now we gotta actually fight demon lord Van which I'm still not totally clear on but that's not here or there. I somehow scrounge up to almost kill him but THERES EVEN MORE we got the Grendel back now but he doesn't even let me attack I must have used like 30 S Breaks and his health doesn't go below 300k he just heals it back up. I just closed the game it's 5:45am I can't deal with this rn.

Good game for the most part I'm harping too much on the bad bits I know but I needed this crash out I've been feeling since finale began. This game would be top tier Trails if they literally just did the same thing they did here from the Melchoir fight but back in Oracion instead. Chapter 5 would have been a great finale that way and you could still have the Van fight when the gang comes back trying to find him but I guess we need to have our traditional in game festival every arc so it's alright to destroy the pacing...

Anyway what did you guys think of the finale?

Would you feel comfortable owning one through financing

I've just been having a dilemma these days it probably sounds stupid when I type this out but little under a month ago I got a Xbox ally x through best buy Canada throughout their geek squad open box program it's practically in brand new condition for like $1200 cad saved like 300 over msrp. I got it through a financing deal thinking if I don't like it it's just a month long trial but then right as I got it lost my job which came outta nowhere.

Now have plans to head to home country for some months the whole travel is just days away and Im still in the return period for this game but just feel paralysed through indecision. The financing I got was the 12 month plan so they don't charge any interest as long as I pay within the year and I don't wanna do it monthly rn while I'd be out of country out of my emergency savings while I either find a job back home or come back to Canada after a while. I just can't decide whether it's a good idea to keep it on one hand it's pretty handy to have to play once in a while when I don't feel like playing on my gaming laptop and on the other I feel worried if I just have trouble finding a job this'll be a albatross around my neck the whole time like a debt which it is I suppose.

I could return it and risk it definitely reaching way above my pay grade even if I find a job later seeing as even the open box version I got is sold out now no doubt due to the recent steam deck price increases.

Idk what do you guys think I hate being indecisive.

In 2026 market, how do you 'get' coding?

A bit of a background, I'm from India did Bachelor's in Computer Applications graduated in 2020 smack dab in the pandemic, Ive always liked computers so I figured it's the one thing I'm good at. I didn't know how to get in that market at that time since now I realise I was mostly stuck in Tutorial hell even back then and ended up doing a post grad web development program in Canada over the next couple of years.

Did some decent project experience but again after that was over I couldn't find programming job in that market I aimed for Full Stack at first thinking I understood React and MongDB, ended up in a technical support role for a major tech company and it's been a few years since. I've been sick of that role since that's not exactly something you can base a future on and since I still can't find anything full stack related in Canadian market I'll be going back home soon for at least a bit to try my luck there.

My main issue is this after all these years along with the low confidence I've always had related to just finding a job at all now I feel so much anxiety that im gonna be stuck in starter roles like this technical support for the rest of my life or that Im already behind my peers due to not already having junior dev experience but I don't even know what I should be aiming for anymore. I'll need some time to properly start coding again without AI or whatever tools there are these days I don't wanna be stuck in Tutorial hell again and being stuck at every problem will be painful but at this point it's my only option to finally learn it for good and hopefully be good enough to find a job.

What role should someone from my background even aim for? like what stack? I don't know how much the market has changed all this AI boom began so I'm not even sure if I'd be learning the correct way or aiming for a role that's too high for me without realising it. What would even be the best places to look for those kinds of roles it used to be applying in company websites was the best people said but with AI bots now everywhere I don't know.

Any help or clarification would be appreciated.

Edit: spelling

(27/M)Just got fired weeks after losing my grandmother I feel like I'm losing it

I lost my grandmother in the beginning of the month I was already depressed before, they gave me 3 days of bereavement for what that was worth but I couldn't just show up right after like nothing happened I know I'm weak minded. I took a couple of extra sick days..I had prior infractions for being absent like 3 times in 5 months so I guess I wasn't a model guy there either but they just told me now I'm fired just like that Idk why I just started crying right after I'm not a overtly emotional person usually I didn't even like the job but I couldn't get into my field job....idk what to do.

I had booked travel plans to visit my home country and family next month for some time and had planned to ask them for a LoA in just a few days but I guess I don't need that anymore...

I just don't know I'm so lost idk how I'll find any job in this market I keep hearing about it I haven't found a IT role in 2 years after graduating either but at least this was paying my bills did I just ruin my life I can't stop thinking like this

Legion Go S price increase

Don't believe it's been posted here before looks like it just happened today pretty sure it was $1099 till yesterday. I know RAM shortages, chips and whatnot but this is crazy.

Legion Go 1 is actually on sale right now on Best Buy CA if you want a Z1E device it's a good price and as soon as that sale ends I'm sure they'll make it near $2000 as well so if you're interested now's the time.

Moving from Canada to India for a while, how to keep text service?

So gist is I will be going back to India tho I'm a permanent resident here in Canada so I know it'll be only temporary. Whether that's 2 months, 6 months, 1 year not sure. How do I keep my number active for SMS and push text verification like banking apps, wealthsimple, the occasional phone call tho I can leave it if adding calls makes it expensive.

Is there a way instead of paying 50 bucks every month plus god knows how much in roaming fees?

Goodbye to the community! I'll see you guys some other time

Thank you for all the help and answers whenever I had questions here regarding my Legion Go S. I loved it from the moment I got it but the time was just not right. I have remote work so I never actually ended up playing when I had my desktop right in my room and I urgently need to raise some cash so...this is farewell for now!

When I am in a better financial situation and hoping the pricing stops being insane I'd love to join the discussions again.

Maybe a silly question but my 2025 return I opted to claim for CWB since I was easily making all the requirements but I noticed for 2024 return I also meet them with a bit lower income so more return however I see a point on CRA website where it states "have to be a resident of Canada throughout the year", Now I remember I visited my home country in early 2024 for a period of let's say less than 40 days like maybe 35-37 while I was on a leave of absence for medical caregiver leave at my workplace. Am I eligible to make a change on my 2024 return and claim those benefits still?

Google says something about being in Canada for 183+ days to be deemed a resident for tax purposes but I'm not taking just their word for it what do you guys think.

Just finished Act 2 of CS4 and omgg those last 4 hours the moment we step foot in that airship were one of the most emotionally gratifying payoffs I've experienced in any media ever. Long running books haven't been able to give me that kind of feeling where by the end I'm exhausted by the sheer quantity of peak fiction moments and surprise reveals.

I KNEW Olivert wasn't dead cz I saw some art of him with a eyepatch months ago before I even started CS series but EVEN THEN that man had me jumping out of my chair and moving around in sheer adrenaline that whole sequence was worth the build up ever since wr saw him throw down the challenge to Osborne in Sky 3rd.

Also at the end when the bad guys kept appearing in big screens one after the other I was like oh okay Ironbloods that makes sense oh Mrs Reinford also Schmidt guess they're bad guys for now all the while I was like someone is missing after seeing Toval and Olivert like wheres your third Musketeer WHERE'S SIR AURA HIMSELF the man who has never seen an L yes McBurn included and then HES A BAD GUY NOW?? And he's not brainwashed either?? I was actually exhausted cz of being so hyped for so long like suure at that point.

Kinda still don't get how the curse is forcing him against his will I thought he had better strength of will than that. Also don't understand how Roselia now implies she will tell us the truth of the curse when she couldn't upto now even in last game's ending. I wish the other protag teams would have stuck together. I WISH I COULD SEE THE EASTERN CITIES again I was holding out hope when we apparently saw Bareahard in one of Jusis's events I wanna visit Trista aaah.

So many questions still but I'll wait to see how this plays out.

All in all, thought CS2 was a one off but no APPARENTLY all you need is a Pantagruel section in your game for it to be one of the best moments of the entire series.
