I built a free, open-source stage timer for live shows (Mac + Windows)

Free, no sign-up, open-source: https://github.com/srdjankotarlic/protimer

Big countdown for the stage that turns yellow then red as time runs out. You can drop it into OBS as a transparent overlay, run it from your phone, share a QR code so anyone on-site can watch, and there's a backstage screen showing what's now/next and whether you're running over.

Built it solo — would really love feedback from people who actually run shows. What's missing?

Free tool for PowerPoint/PDF presenter workflows in OBS

Hey everyone,

I built a small free open-source plugin for people who sometimes need to run PowerPoint or PDF slide decks through OBS, but still want something closer to a presenter/confidence view.

It adds two source types:

- a clean slide output for the audience/program feed

- a presenter view with current slide, next slide, timer, and notes

It is not meant to replace ProPresenter. I built it more for those awkward cases where someone sends a PowerPoint/PDF deck, the show is already built in OBS, and you still need a usable speaker/operator view without screen-capturing full-screen PowerPoint.

Right now the stable build is for macOS Apple Silicon. It is still in active development, but I made a short demo video so people can see the actual workflow before trying it.

Demo/download:

https://github.com/srdjankotarlic/pptbridge-sk-obs

I would really appreciate feedback from people who run real presentation setups:

- does this workflow make sense?

- what would make you trust it in a live show?

- is there anything obvious missing for church/event/webinar use?

Free offline tool I made to track which drive a shoot is on — looking for blunt feedback

I kept forgetting which drive old footage was on, so I built a free little tool for myself and I’m looking for honest workflow feedback, not trying to sell anything. It’s called DiskCat. The basic idea is simple: add your drives/cards/NAS/cloud locations, log shoots, and search later by shoot name, project folder, client, tag, year, filename, codec, etc. It also flags footage that only has one copy, and it has reports for “not backed up”, missing drive links, stale drive checks, and per-project drive maps. I know the obvious criticism: “isn’t this just a nicer spreadsheet?” Honestly, partly yes. A spreadsheet can absolutely do some of this. The parts that made it more useful for me were:

- search shows the exact drive/copy without me maintaining tons of sheet columns

- folder inventory import makes old filenames searchable

- project/root folder view helps when the same job appears across multiple drives

- backup status is visible immediately

- local/offline mode needs no account and stores data on your own machine

- optional cloud sync is self-owned, using your own Supabase project, so I’m not hosting anyone’s data

It’s free:

https://srdjankotarlic.github.io/diskcat/

Mac download / source:

https://github.com/srdjankotarlic/diskcat/releases/latest

If you manage footage across a lot of drives, I’d really appreciate blunt feedback:

  1. Would this help your workflow at all?

  2. What is missing before it becomes genuinely useful?

  3. What feels confusing or too spreadsheet-like?

  4. Would you trust a local/offline tool like this, or would you only use cloud/team sync?

Negative feedback is welcome. I’d rather fix the right thing than polish the wrong thing.

DiskCat – I kept forgetting which drive my footage was on, so I made this (free)

I shoot video and could never remember which drive an old shoot was on. So I made DiskCat: add your drives, log each shoot, then search and it instantly tells you where it is — and which shoots aren't backed up yet. Free, no signup, runs in your browser (works offline).

How do you keep track of yours?

FineArtAmerica sellers: how do you audit titles, descriptions, and keywords in bulk?

Disclosure: I’m building a small Mac tool around FineArtAmerica listing-audit workflows, so I’m trying to understand how sellers currently do this. No product link here.

If you have 50+ listings on FineArtAmerica / Pixels, do you review SEO page-by-page, use spreadsheets, export anything, or only edit when a listing underperforms?

I’m especially curious about:

  • title and description cleanup
  • keyword order and relevance
  • avoiding accidental bulk edits
  • whether CSV review would actually help

Not looking for guaranteed ranking tricks; just real workflow pain points from sellers who have a lot of listings.

Looking for feedback on an OBS workflow for PowerPoint/PDF presenter views

Hey everyone,

I’m working on an OBS workflow/plugin for people who use PowerPoint or PDF decks in live production, churches, webinars, and small events.

The problem I’m trying to solve is this:

When using PowerPoint with OBS, I often want the audience/program feed to show only the clean slide, while the operator or presenter gets a separate view with notes, next slide, timer, and controls.

I also wanted it to avoid some common problems:

- PowerPoint taking over the whole desktop

- keyboard shortcuts changing slides while I’m typing in another app

- resizing the PowerPoint window changing the OBS output

- needing Companion/Stream Deck control without relying on app focus

- using different decks in different OBS scenes

I’ve got a macOS version working now, with Apple Silicon and Intel builds, and a Windows beta/source validation build.

I’m not trying to promote/spam the subreddit; I’m mainly looking for workflow feedback from people who actually use OBS with slide decks.

For those of you who run PowerPoint/PDF presentations through OBS:

what would you expect this kind of plugin to do before you would trust it in a real show?

I built a free OBS plugin for PowerPoint/PDF slides in church livestreams

Hey everyone,

I work with live events and presentations, and I built a free open-source OBS plugin that might be useful for church livestreams, worship services, conferences, and volunteer AV teams using PowerPoint or PDF slides.

The problem I was trying to solve is pretty common: PowerPoint works fine for the person presenting, but in OBS you often want something different:

- a clean slide feed for the livestream or projector

- a presenter/confidence view with notes, next slide, and timer

- control that does not break when OBS, PowerPoint, or another app has focus

- easier use with Stream Deck / Companion / OSC

- a way to keep the PowerPoint window smaller on your screen without messing up the OBS output

The plugin adds native OBS sources for:

- clean slide output

- presenter view / confidence monitor

- PowerPoint and PDF decks

- presenter notes and next-slide preview

- OBS-focused hotkeys

- optional clicker capture for presentation remotes

- Companion/OSC control

- manual or automatic PowerPoint live mode

- Apple Silicon and Intel macOS builds

It is free and open source. I am not trying to sell anything; I mostly want feedback from people who run real church tech setups, especially volunteers who need things to be reliable and simple on Sunday.

macOS is the stable version right now. Windows is available as a beta/source validation build and still needs more real testing.

If this kind of post is not allowed here, no problem at all. I can remove it. I just thought it might be useful for churches that use OBS with PowerPoint every week.

I’ve been working on a small side project for OBS.

The idea is simple: when using PowerPoint or PDF decks in live production, I wanted two separate OBS sources:

- a clean slide output for the audience/program feed

- a presenter view for the speaker or operator, with notes and next-slide context

The macOS version is the main stable build right now, and I’m using the project to learn more about native OBS plugin development and real live-event workflows.

I’m not trying to sell anything here. I’d mainly love feedback from people who use OBS for webinars, conferences, churches, schools, or AV work:

Does this workflow make sense, and what would you expect from a plugin like this before trusting it in a real show?
