Finally grew my nails the longest they’ve been, but they look gross and keep breaking low on the sides

My nails grow super weird but I finally managed to go 2 months with growth. I used oil daily, only filed them, and wore gloves to clean and wash dishes. However, the split low on the sides and they look so gross? I clean under them with a nail brush but they’re patchy and discolored and I wanna cut them short so bad!

I want to start shooting photos with an analog camera, what are some things I can do to improve my composition and lighting first?

I only have an iphone 13, and a ‘73 polaroid sx-70. I want to buy an analog camera and shoot on kodak gold, but I want to make sure I understand the basics of lighting, composition and choosing good subjects first (since film is so expensive)

▲ 123 r/piercing

Got both nostrils pierced, not sure how I feel

I can’t tell if the piercings should be smaller since my nose isn’t very big, or if the size works. Also my septum is deviated so the posts keep rubbing the middle cartilage 😭

How can I properly light photos with medium toned subjects?

My boyfriend is AAPI of mixed heritage, he leans more warm toned and is a medium skin tone. He’s a beautiful man inside and out, and I love taking photos of him. The issue is I’m used to taking photos of lighter toned people, and I’m struggling to light shots with him in it. I know he favors golden hour, diffused warm lighting and moodier settings, but my photos are either over exposed and white wash him, or are too dark. This one was just ok.

I know this is the limit of shooting with an instastax, but I use it as practice for my 1973 sx-70, and eventually want to go fully analog and film. I wanna shoot him on Kodak gold, I know he’d look radiant so I wanna practice a ton before I get to that point

Need a fresh start, tired of Ohio

Hey guys, I’m fed up with Ohio and looking to get out of the state but I feel so lost as where to go. My lease is over in April so I have time to plan. I work as a bachelor level social worker so income isn’t the best, but I still average 60-63k a year in Ohio. I love warm weather, forested areas, hiking, outdoorsy activities, and am more of an artsy person. I’m pretty liberal but I can survive a red area if the view is nice enough. I’ve always been a small to medium sized town person, but have always lived within reach of a large city. I’ve been to every state in the south, California and most of the Midwest. I dont wanna live in the Midwest anymore. Where do you think that fits?

How do ya’ll manage chronic pain when doctors won’t pursue care

Hi guys! I have raynauds, erythromelagia (both diagnosed) and clicky, hypermobile joints with persistent achey pain but they’re relatively unmanaged as I cannot get any doctors to refer me to a rheumatologist, because my labs are always perfect (go figure) I do the typical wearing airy clothing, yoga and ibuprofen for joint pain, cool down when erythro flairs up and warm up when my raynauds flairs up. I’ve accepted that I’ll probably never have answers to what causes all this, so I’m looking for good home remedies. What is ya’lls favorite advice, life hacks for managing pain and still living a fulfilling life even when doctors don’t give a rats ass. It doesn’t keep me down, my life is still very active, but it has impacted my ability to go to the gym and I feel a lot more tired than I used to. I didnt have these issues until I hit about 24-25 so it’s only been about 5 years. The severity fluctuates but I feel it’s gotten worse as time goes on, and I wanna get back to regular, pain free me. I refuse to waste away and have these issues impact my ability to travel, work and be social.

My boyfriend seems frustrated I “don’t take an interest” in his culture, but he hasn’t really taught me anything about it?

I’m white, my boyfriend is Chamorro but grew up in the states. He’s super proud of his culture and is very involved, and wants me to learn about it. I would love to! I knew nothing about Guam and had never heard of his culture before meeting him, so I was pretty intrigued and I have tried to ask him questions about it. He brought up that he was frustrated that I don’t seem interested in it, but he also really hasn’t taught me much beyond telling me about 1 dish, giving me a little info about the history and teaching me 1 word. Granted, it’s only been a little over a month or so since we began dating so I feel like he’s trying to rush it? I would love to know about the different dishes, the music, the language, but I also feel like there should be some effort to teach or introduce me so I have a basis of what his culture is about! I told him it’s hard to learn when I don’t know where to start, also it takes time to learn things. He brought up that his female friend has been interested and asks him loads of questions and that he wishes I would do that, which I feel I have been trying to do.

He brought up that I’ve told him loads about Scots Irish and Appalachian culture, one my ex was Irish, two my stepdad is from Belfast so I’ve spent SO much time in Ireland, 3 my family were Ulster Scots who came to Appalachia in the 1900’s, so there is a personal connection, and also I make the effort to teach him even if he doesn’t ask questions about Appalachian culture. I told him that, for starters, my ex and I were together for 6 years, I wasn’t an immediate expert, I learned the language over time, I learned the dishes over time, he took me to all the historical sites, immersed me in the language, music and history. I explained that I’d wish to do this with him too, I would love to go to Guam, learn recipes from his mom and aunties, and go to cultural festivals with him, but I also feel his frustration is a bit unfair given how new the relationship is.

So I figured I have to do most of the learning on my own so I can start asking more questions about his culture, but I didn’t realize the country of Guam is the size of Chicago and there’s only like 170k people that live there, so resources for learning have been me reading wikipedia and watching tiktoks about the different dishes, musical artists etc., which even then has been limited. Idk, what do ya’ll think?
