CNA training after age 65?
I’m 67f, retired, and looking for part time work in North Carolina. I have a lot of experience as a caregiver to family, and spent about 15 years in the healthcare/long term care industries but not in direct patient care. I’d rather be an independent caregiver vs working for an agency.
I can take a CNA I course at my local community college for ~$300 and I’m wondering about a couple of things:
Has anyone taken this course after age 65, and was it a good experience?
Is it a realistic plan to be an independent caregiver without a CNA? Would the answer change if a relative (not someone I reside with) becomes eligible for Medicaid caregiver assistance in the future?
(I’ll be cross posting to r/caregivers as well.)
