Watching a stock go up after selling it somehow hurts more than watching one drop while holding!

I can handle a red day while I’m still in a position, but seeing something run after finally exiting feels weirdly worse. Do you also get stuck thinking about the opportunity cost more than the actual loss?

Why does everyone act like Australia is mostly about Sydney and Melbourne?

I’ve noticed that whenever people talk about moving somewhere in Australia, or even just general life here, the conversation always seems to circle back to Sydney and Melbourne. Places like Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and even regional areas seem to get treated like they’re some sort of backup option rather than somewhere people actively choose to live. Is it just where the opportunities are, or do Sydney and Melbourne genuinely offer something the rest don’t?

ANZ’s automated rejection system is an absolute joke

I have a perfect Equifax score, zero debt, an offset account sitting with a comfortable buffer, and a very healthy corporate salary. Applied for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black today just to hit the 90k bonus, and got slapped with an instantaneous, automated rejection email within three seconds of hitting submit. No human eye even looked at it. Called up their support line and the operator just read off a script saying they can’t disclose criteria. Meanwhile, my mate who works part time and has half my income got approved instantly last month. It makes absolutely zero sense.

ASX barely finished green today but some stocks absolutely went crazy

The ASX only closed up 0.12%, but underneath that there were some massive moves. Megaport exploding nearly 30% in a day while Xero and Lynas got smashed shows how random this market feels lately. Even when the index looks flat, individual stocks are moving like it’s earnings season on steroids. Anyone here catch the MP1 move early, or is everyone just hiding in ETFs right now?

Are the big survey panels actually raising their "Points-to-AUD" rates to match the May fuel spike?

With the 12% fuel surcharge hitting our delivery side-hustles this month, the cost of living is biting hard. Has anyone noticed Pureprofile or Octopus Group increasing their per-minute pay to keep up? It feels like 10c a minute is the same rate we were getting three years ago. At what point does it become more profitable to just sell stuff on Marketplace than to grind surveys in 2026?

Is $18/pay cycle the new "Standard" for management fees in 2026?

I just got my annual statement from one of the "Big 3" providers and my monthly admin fee has jumped again. Is anyone finding better value with the smaller, independent "No-Comm" providers, or are the big guys still the only ones with enough buying power to get decent lead times on the Tesla "Juniper" Model Y? I feel like the "Admin Fee" is slowly eating my GST savings on the servicing.

Why do our bike lanes just disappear when things get actually dangerous?

Does anyone else find it mental that the "protected" lanes in Melbourne always end exactly where the intersections get the most congested? It’s like the planners think we just stop existing once the white paint stops. How are you guys handling those gaps without getting squeezed into the gutter by utes?

With Joe Ingles reportedly close to signing with Melbourne United, it feels like more than just a homecoming. He’s still competing in the NBA playoffs, so what kind of impact would he bring back? Is this the move that shifts the balance in the NBL? Or is it more about experience and leadership at this stage of his career?

I just received a "Request for Information" letter via MyGov regarding my income from three years ago. Apparently, Centrelink’s new AI cross-referenced my ATO data and found a "discrepancy." I thought they weren't allowed to do the "averaged income" thing anymore after the Robodebt scandal? This letter is asking me to provide payslips from a company that doesn't even exist anymore. Is anyone else getting these "compliance check" letters in 2026? It feels like they've just rebranded the old system with a shiny new algorithm. Should I call Legal Help (EJA) immediately or try to find the records myself?
