HOTAM (VKB GLAD L/H OTA) in ED

Does anyone have any suggestions for button mapping on the VKB gladiator omnithrottle left hand, with mouse in the right, for Elite Dangerous?

Current plan is vkb x-axis for roll, y-axis for thrust, analog mini stick for lateral (sway and heave), with mouse for pitch and yaw.

I've looked on the edrefcard page, but no one seems to be uploading HOTAM configurations.

Analysis paralysis: replacement or extension?

PSU: MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE5

CASE: MSI MAG PANO 100R PZ (not the M100)

MB: MSI B650M PZ (micro-atx, in atx-capable case)

GPU: XFX Quicksilver 9070XT (2x8 (6+2) pin connectors)

The two stock (pigtailed) 6+2 pin cables are listed as 600mm long, I've got a little bit of slack - but I'm going to be adding a "back of case" sag bracket (EZDIY-FAB Black-341-2) which potentially adds about 40mm of thickness to the area around which I will need to route a cable.

Which is the better option - direct replacement or an extension cable?

And what length, either way? I was considering just going with an airgoo strimer instead . . .

MAG PANO 130R PZ

Does MSI have this case available in the USA, other than the MLG edition? I've got an MAG PANO M100R PZ, but I'm not digging the esthetics of my bottom intakes being in two levels because of the PSU shroud.

I suppose I could settle for the MAG PANO 110R PZ, but I'm not liking the hard lines of that case.

PSU to components cabling questions

Building (rebuilding, actually, original PSU died) a new PC.

I've been out of the PC building world since 2002.

My GPU (xfx quicksilver 9070xt) takes 2 x 8 pin pcie connectors.

My original psu (msi MAG a750GL) had TWO PCIE cables (6+2), one with a single connector on the PSU end with TWO at the other end, daisy chained.

can I use just that ONE cable to connect my GPU, or do I need to use TWO SEPARATE ports on the PSU to power it?

Additionally, similar question - I'm trying to power an RGB controller, either a Nollie8 (SATA connectors) or a Nollie16 (mollex) - each take two power connections - CAN I use a daisy chain style sata cable, or a daisy chained mollex?

When I was trying the daisy chain of either of them, it appeared my leds were not getting enough power (only half of them lit).

When I attempted to use two separate mollex cables for the Nollie16, the computer would not start - RAM would light up, nothing else.

I removed the mollex cables, and it started up fine.

Tried the mollex cables again, no start, also, now, without the mollex cables connected, no start, pretty sure I coooked the PSU, so I got a new one (MAG A1000), but I haven't tried it yet.

Issues with Nollie8, Nollie RGB and Signal RGB

Motherboard is a MSI (AMD) B650M PZ; nollie8 controller, four sets of RGBs to control: 3x Nollie GC120 v2 daisy chained, another 3x Nollie GC120 v2 daisy chained, one MSI MAG F120 ARGB, and a thermalright aqua elite 360 v5.

I have now uninstalled signalrgb, and deleted all of its folders.

I have deleted nollie 2.1.4 which I had run, and it updated the firmware on my nollie 8.

When everything was plugged in, none of the fans were controlled either in nollie rgb, or signal.

Signal recognized the nollie controller, but no matter what I did for adding components, they would not be controlled - they were all lit up in a random static set of lights.

What settings should I have in windows (dynamic lighting enabled or disabled)?

What settings in bios for rgb led?

What is the BEST order for installing devices and software?

Honestly, I've about given up, and ordered a nollie16 from amazon (so I don't have to wait for it to come from China), which should arrive tomorrow.

Fan suggestions

Fan suggestions

I've got an MSI MAG PANO M100R case - it will support a total of ten fans.

Currently have three intake fans on the side, one exhaust in back, and when i finish the build, it will have 2 fans exhausting through a 240mm radiator. I feel like I need more intake than exhaust, at least that's what I've seen most people recommend.

I'm considering maxing out the fans, two intake above the PSU, one intake on the bottom (right next to the lowest intake fan on the side . . .

I'm wondering if there's a point, other than esthetics, in adding the tenth fan, exhausting next to the 240mm radiator. If I'm looking at esthetics, I would probably want to add a spacer so that it lines up with the fans on the radiator.

I would end up with six intake - two of which would be drawing through the PSU compartment, and four exhaust, two of which would be blowing through the radiator.

Thoughts? I'm really not sure how I feel about intakes that are drawing from the PSU compartment, but I have been out of the PC building environment since 2002.

So, I know that Corsair has figured out that people are annoyed it's got proprietary RGB control in its ram, as they've got guidance for integrating it with mystic light:

https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/14649496854029-RAM-How-To-Enable-RGB-Control-with-MSI-Mystic-Light-for-DRAM

Has anyone managed to get Corsair Vengeance ram RGB control with any of the other RGB control systems out there, either? NollieRGB signalRGB or openRGB?

Because I have a new build coming up, and I'm considering pulling the trigger on a nollie controller, but I want to make sure I can get everything in my case synchronized.

Motherboard: MSI B650M PROJECT ZERO Micro ATX AM5 - music light capable, three ARGB headers

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Elite 84.2 CFM Liquid Cooler - two stock cooler Master fans as well as the RGB on the pump

Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30

Case: Lian Li VECTOR V100R MINI so, stock Lian Li argb fans, and and argb case strip

Video Card: XFX Quicksilver 2 Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card (I don't recall if this has any RGB on it)

u/QuincyMABrewer — 4 months ago

Trying to figure out control of the various argb devices in this build.

As far as I can tell, I will have five different ARGB plugs: One from the back fan, one from the LED on the cooler pump, one from the two fans on the radiator, one from the three pre-installed fans on the side, and one from the 26 LED strip along the left side glass.

The motherboard only has three ARGB Gen 2 headers.

Because none of the manufacturers of any of the individual parts in this build give any sort of detail as to which implementation of argb they are using, I have no idea which parts will be able to be daisy chained, and yet still have individual ARGB control.

Does anyone have either any better details on those various parts, or, failing that, a good solution for ensuring I have control of all of the individual LEDs separately?

I realize that the best solution would be to purchase only ARGB Gen 2 fans, but that's not in my budget right now.

Elsewhere, it has been suggested all three of the pre built case RGB items are on one y-chain, but even if I pull them apart, I'll still likely need something like a nollie controller . . .

Thanks in advance!

It appears that nobody has found an answer for this, unless my searching is that awful. I will be using MSI b650 project zero gaming motherboard, which has three argb Gen 2 headers.

Are the four fans (and the 26 LED strip along the side) that come pre-installed in this case gen one or gen 2 argb? I am trying to figure out what my ARGB control situation is going to be like.

Besides those pre-installed fans and strip (which, if my understanding of the manual is correct, will be three different argb plugs), I will have six other RGB items, 2 of which will have their own plugs:

Cooler Master elite 240 - one plug for the pump led, one plug for the two fans LED

Two sticks of Corsair memory with RGB

PNY ssd with RGB

What is my best option for the most granularity with LED control, that is, how will I best be able to control every one of the addressable LEDs separately, instead of having the three pre-mounted fans on the side and the one on the back the same color, if I daisy chain them

First of all, I have been out of the PC building game since 2002, so my knowledge is extremely rusty.

I am also aware that the USB naming convention is beyond hard to understand.

I am about to embark on building a new pc, when all of the parts arrive sometime in the next 3 weeks; I am using an MSI B650M Project Zero motherboard, and a LianLi Vector 100R case.

Like many others, I get the following compatibility warning on PCpartpicker: "A USB 3.2 Gen 2 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 header adapter is required."

MSI B650 Project Zero - https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/B650M-PROJECT-ZERO/support#manual

Mobo manual, page 37: JUSB4: USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps Type-C front panel Connector

Vector 100R https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PhK6bDymuEhaHH6FHVaZdBMdwN3Fms\_o/view

also here, in case people don't want to go direct to a google doc:

https://lian-li.com/product/vector-v100-mini/
Page 5 of that document shows "USB 3.1 Gen.2 Type C, with a diagram of an 11 pin connector.

https://preview.redd.it/p9emk87n5sxg1.jpg?width=1909&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82c2942a14e978d883f5a42ce816aeaeb03be4fb

2 questions - without any OTHER adapters:

  1. will I be able to connect the motherboard usb type-c front panel connector to the case's USB type c port?
  2. will I get 10gbps from that front usb port if question 1 is YES?
  3. WITH an adapter, will I be able to connect the mobo front panel usb cojnnector to the case usb port, and is there such an adapter that will let me get 10gbps on the front usb-c port?
