A hero first person shooter with a party game casual gameloop
Anesthetic and story: it's a story focused game, it takes place in a retro futuristic version of the year 10 thousand, my main inspiration is Futurama, astro city, and invader Zim, so the world is destroyed by nuclear fallout, half of humanity lives in outer space while the other half mutated and even evolved into being able to withstand unbelievable amount of radioactivity, but that is the world, the game itself takes place in a game show called "enteopy"(which is the title of the game), the show collect freaks, mutants, disabled, alien creatures and make them compete in team based matches that take place in any place you can imagine for 1B dollars.
Game looop: you first need to find a lobby, lobbies are made of 18 people, 9v9, but because it's a casual game you can start match while being less then 18 people, so the players are split into team orange and team blue, each one has a counter to how many points they have, then three map choices appear, maps are aligned game modes so choosing a map is the same as choosing a game mode, the players vote over which map they will play, then they chose there heroes(or contestants) freely, meaning you can have 8 tanks and 1 support because no body is forced to one role, also duplicates are allowed so one team can have multiple of the same character, then comes the match, matches gonna take 15 minutes, there is no timer but the maps are gonna be small and the objectives smaller so the matches doesn't take that time, after a team will they get one point then everybody returns to the lobby to repeat the cycle.
Character structure:
Every character will have, a primary, an S1(special 1), an S2, and a Super of which they need to charge,
In terms movement, there is 5 speed categorize:
Very slow: can go through 3 meters per second.
Slow: 6 meters per second.
Average: 10 meters per second
Fast: 15 meters a second
Very fast: 20 meters a second.
And a jump height because the game is gonna be focused on movement, character jumps can range from 5 meters to 30 meters giving them vertical mobility, plus one character can fly.
Edit: such an ass typo, I meant the game isn't story focus
Any tips on how to make my hero shooters more interesting/standout.
it's set in a retro futuristic version of the year 10 thousand, it takes place in a game show where mutants and freaks compete for 100 dollars.
The core game loop is a 9v9 party game like hero first person shooter, where you enter a lobby made of a south team and a north team, vote on a map/gamemode, then choose a hero to play with, the matches will take from 5-10 minutes and after the ending everybody returns to the same lobby and the winner team gets a point. Most maps has their own hazards and effects to spice up the gameplay. And i have only sketched 14 heroes.
Of course I am leaving so much details but this post is mainly for one thing: opinions on the idea of an indie hero shooter in general
Do anyone else think people sometimes just want some games to die for no reason
This thought came to me after seeing a video about the finals being dead but the finals as I am writing this right now has 17 thousand players online, which then leed me to watching a video of a person saying that deadlock is dying, while complaining about the dumbest shit imaginable and lying because deadlock cannot be in a better time, and don't let me started on people that just keep watching the player rate of games just to post on Twitter that a game has died, those people just need to invest their time on something better because it's I now feel that maybe hero shooters fatigue is just a lie made by those exact people.
Another example though this one is different is last flag, the game has so much potential the only negative point i see people talking about is balance(which can have been fixed if the game lived another season) and the fact it's made by imagine dragon, which i don't like the band what are we doing killing such a passion project that had so much potential because the creator makes safe music.
I wanna call them grifters but at this point I feel like they are believing what they are saying
How much can a thing be creative without getting absurd
I can now draw a person made of shaving machines that happen to have a dinosaur head, that would be an original design, but it's just a joke, absurd, and we are in an age we're most ideas has been already covered most of new original media that try to go as absurd and crazy as possible, which made me raise the question of how much creativity can a thing be without falling into absurdity
Or how can I make it have depth(please don't comment "define depth")
