Nail in the tire

Nail in the tire

I know most people just plug it with a kit or something, but I'm planning to take my bike to my first track day and I was wondering if I should just change the tires out at this point to be safer.

Riding pants with zipper pockets

Just looking for alternative pants to my black RST jeans. They're comfortable but I'm a little paranoid of my phone, wallet, and motorcycle keys falling out when I'm riding.

Shops that can install a hitch to my Mazda 3?

The Mazda 3's here aren't rated to tow but their EU counterparts are. Was wondering if any shops in the area do this custom hitch installation.

Is it worth taking YCRS or CSS as a first track experience or just get a few track days before signing up to a school?

Just wanted opinions on people with various experience levels on this subject.

I'm not worried about the cost of either of these and money isn't an issue but I do want to get the most out of the days in a school and I'm worried about info overload. If I do choose a school as a first experience, is there anything I should do for drills or just study on things like track layout or theory?

Good track orgs for novices in Central Coast California

I know of Z2 and Pacific track time but are there any others around the area? I'm located in Monterey, CA so I'm close to Laguna Seca. I'm also down for minimoto tracks to get my foot in the door for track riding if there are any in the area.

How much experience before going to track classes?

I'm comfortable at highway speeds and leaning a a fair amount for turns but I don't ride enough in twisties. I usually ride around town. Should I practice more around mountain roads (at a safe pace) or can I hit up a track for classes. I'm not looking for open track day sessions but actual classes with instructors.

Twisty Riding routes

I'm looking for some twisty routes around the county to get comfortable leaning on my motorcycle. I've gone through heckler pass up near Watsonville already from my commute from San Jose. I also know about Laureles road into Carmel Valley from highway 68 but I went through it via car once. Any suggestions lemme know

Digital or Analog tire pressure gauge for accuracy?

I guess this isn't motorcycle specific but what tire pressure gauges do you use? I got two digital ones (Astroai L7S and Fanttik) and a regular Jaco gauge from amazon. Both the digital ones would read my tire pressure 2 psi higher than the analog one so should I trust the digital readings more?

Vibration dampening for grips and pegs

Im thinking of pro grip 719 for my clip ons since I'm traveling around 85-90 mph and the vibrations are numbing me a bit in the hands. It's a little more bothersome however on the pegs. Are there any covers or aftermarket replacements for the pegs you would recommend for vibration dampening? Also any other grip alternative recommendations would be welcomed

Stopping on a curved bank

This is a merge that I usually take to go home from my office. I wanna take my motorcycle out to work for the first time but I remembered this merge being a little steep of a bank to the right. I'd be able to take this moving no problem but the meter is almost always on whenever I get here so there are a bunch of cars queued up at the light in both carpool and non carpool lane. I'm not sure if I can lane filter to the front with the solid white line (in California) but if I can't, what's the easier way to stop and go here? Left foot down or right foot?

Aftermarket clip on grips for Ninja 500

I need grips that are a little more grippy because I keep gripping the throttle too hard to just keep it open (Yes I'm using that screwdriver grip but I'm being forced to hold that throttle much harder than I'd like to keep a good grip on it)

Tank grips

Looking into getting aftermarket tank grips since these ones seem cosmetic. I'm thinking techspec but what other brands do you recommend?

Also how would you tackle removing the OEM grips? Just a heat gun or blow dryer I'm assuming then some alcohol to clean

Favorite color scheme of the Ninja 500?

I got a 40th anniversary which I really like but I've always preferred the moondust silver one on the '25 model.

Tire pressure going down each day?

I notice my tire pressure goes down every 1-2 days. I was wondering if this was normal. I tried the spray method of checking for any leaks but nothing around the tire. I did notice that the valves on my wheels don't go all the way in. I was wondering if that's normal (Bike's a Ninja 500). If it is, is it normal to lose some psi each day?

How much quieter is the Shoe RF-1400 over the RF-SR?

I currently ride with an RF-SR and motolis earplugs and when I get on the highway, the wind is loud to me. I've never ridden at highway speeds with another helmet so I want to know the experiences of riders who owned both helmets and if it's worth buying an RF-1400.

RST Pro Series GP glove sizing

I got these today at size S. They fit snug but not painful. My fingers touch/rub against the end of the glove.

My biggest concern is that the webbing between the middle finger and ring finger doesn't really touch the webbing on my hand. I can still grab the brake lever but I need to lift some of my hand up before placing my middle and index on the lever. Also the tips if my fingers really dig into the ends, especially the ring finger, when I grip the bars. It's not really painful but I can see it being a bit of a bother in longer rides.

I was wondering if it's just a matter of break in or if I need a size medium instead. I haven't taken the tags off for a ride in case I need to return them.

Hand measurements:

21 cm from wrist to middle finger tip

9 cm palm width (RST measures palm width instead of circumference for some reason)

I chose the size S because it falls under the Small size listed on the sizing chart
