Please please help. Daycare is saying our 15 month old needs to be fully on cups.

Let me start by saying that we really like our son’s (15 months) daycare. They have done a very good job caring for him, making sure that he is transitioning to solids well, keeping us updated on things, etc. You can tell that they really care about him and the other kids.

One thing that they are very strict on though is making sure he is fully drinking from cups, both at daycare and at home. He does a fantastic job of this when he is at daycare, but anytime he is home with us at home, he refuses. We have tried different sippy cups, 360 cup, etc. We have tried giving him 15 minutes or so, coming back to it an hour later, but he still refuses. Then we have to give him the bottle. He takes it amazingly.

Last night we went cold turkey and he has only had a couple sips. I have been giving yogurt, water filled foods to help supplement yesterday and today. My mom heart is hurting so badly seeing him refuse the cup and cry so badly and knowing I shouldn’t give him the bottle.

What do we do? Is he extremely behind? I know that by defaulting to the bottle, he knows it’s an option, but I just don’t know what to do. I would appreciate any tips.

Pet Peeves While Driving

What is your biggest pet peeve when you’re driving? Mine is when people don’t use their turn signal when they change lanes.

Man Hole Covers on Harlem

Just a vent of how annoying the man hole covers are on Harlem. If you hit them, it’s like your car is going to bottom out and trying to avoid them feels like you’re playing Frogger.

Storage Room Organization Project

We recently moved into a new house and we have a decently sized storage room. However, having a one year old and just being busy with life in general, this became a spot for us to throw everything we didn’t really need and sort of just forget about it. But the issue was that we could never find anything that we ended up needing down the road. Pretty proud of the progress I’ve made so far!

The PPA / PPD should be better by now, right?

My husband and I got married a couple years ago and I gave birth to our son just over a year ago. The love I have for my son is tremendous and seeing him grow and develop everyday is absolutely amazing. However, since he was born, I have dealt with extremely bad postpartum anxiety and depression. I have been doing consistent therapy and have been on medication since February. This has really helped, but I still feel like there are days when I feel maxed out mentally and need to take a day off. It doesn’t help that we also bought a new (very old 1800’s) house a few months ago so we have been doing a lot of repairs and projects on the weekend which depletes me even more. Is it bad to feel like my anxiety / depression tolerance since having a baby feels much lower? I feel that I have always been an extremely hard worker and always give as close to 100% as I can, so it’s difficult for me to feel like this and I feel guilty, especially since it’s been 14 months since I gave birth, so it has to be better by now (especially with therapy and medication), right?

AITA for being upset that my husband has slept in every day since our son was born?

I’m looking for validation that this is normal and that I’m just being sensitive. Since our son was born 14 months ago, I have been the one to wake up with him every morning. My husband is a night owl and likes to stay up late to watch movies and play computer games. He used to go sleep around 2 am and wake up around 11 am, even on weekends. He recently started a new job where he has to go in person everyday. So atleast now on the weekends he goes to bed between 11 pm - 12 am after he plays his games, watches tv, etc but he will not wake up any earlier than 8:30 / 9 am on the weekends and then he needs to have his breakfast and coffee before he will help out. I love both him and my son so much, but I would love atleast one day here or there that he would wake up with him and I could sleep until 8. Our son used to sleep until 630/7, but has now started waking up around 5, which is fine, but is difficult when I’m the sole one doing the wake ups. My husband’s reasoning for why I need to continue waking up with him is because I go to bed early so I should do the early wake ups. But the only reason I’m going to bed early is because I need to be able to function in the morning. I even asked him last mother’s day if he would let me sleep in, and I couldn’t get that. Again, this is probably normal but I need some external validation on this.

Daily confusion on having another

My husband (30) and I (29) have a son (14 months). We love him beyond words and he is the absolute best. I had a very complicated delivery with a lot of complications and I struggled with PPA and PPD pretty severely, but I have found really good support through medication management and routine therapy. We feel that things are pretty stable now and we are really enjoying our routine and our son sleeps well.

We are now considering having another baby, and we would love to have them closer in age because of how difficult everything was for me. My sibling and I (now estranged) were also 4 years apart so I felt like it was difficult to bond with her because she was always in the next stage of life with her own things going on. I would love to have my son have a sibling closer in age, though I know it’s not guaranteed they will be close.

My husband and I both have pretty demanding jobs and the return to work for me after maternity leave was a bit of a struggle. My role was basically given to someone else and it was really difficult for me to find new things to work on. I started a new job a few months ago and am really enjoying it.

We keep going back and forth every day on whether we should be one and done or have another. I know it’s a decision we will need to come to on our own, but we are struggling. We both would love another, and I would love to experience pregnancy and the newborn bubble again and I would love to give our son a sibling, but the financial and overall stress of it makes us extremely indecisive. My husband is also worried about my PPA and PPD since I’m doing really well right now.

New Parent Groups

My husband and I recently moved to Oak Park with our 1 year old son. We are extremely interested in finding new parent groups in order to meet new people in the area and become more of a part of the community. Are there good groups or resources that people would recommend?
