This highly collectible vintage sport radio was produced in 1974 by Sutton Associates Ltd., New York, and manufactured in Hong Kong. Powered by a standard 9-volt battery, this unique transistor radio stands approximately 9 inches tall and features a fun soccer player design inspired by the excitement of the 1974 World Cup.
This example is especially desirable because it still includes: Original retail box Original earphone Original plastic radio holder/insert Excellent original condition.

In this first part of the restoration series, we take a close look at a vintage vacuum tube radio and begin the process of identifying exactly what we’re working with. Before any repairs can begin, understanding the radio’s origin, design, and condition is critical. In this video, I carefully inspect the chassis, components, and layout to determine whether this set is a good candidate for repair or a full restoration. Along the way, I share my thought process, point out key components, and discuss common issues found in tube radios of this era. One major challenge quickly becomes clear—there is no schematic available. This raises an important question that many hobbyists and restorers face: can a vacuum tube radio be successfully repaired without a schematic? Stay tuned as this series unfolds, where we’ll dig deeper into troubleshooting, testing components, and deciding the best path forward for bringing this classic radio back to life.

In this video, I walk you step by step through how to troubleshoot and repair a GE downdraft stove range with a common PC board failure issue.
This particular model: UVB30DK1BB suffers from a poor design: the PC board is mounted directly beneath the wiring opening. Over time, oil and grease from the downdraft vent can leak onto the board, causing electrical damage, blown fuses, or complete failure.
