[Review] Epomaker CarbonX - Esport Ready Gaming Mouse with 8K Polling 👀

Recently I reviewed a keyboard made out of carbon fiber… and now we’ve got a gaming mice using the same material 😅

After using it for gaming over the past few weeks Here are my thoughts on Epomaker CarbonX gaming mouse:

  • Carbon fiber shell
  • 8K polling
  • PixArt 3950 sensor
  • Optical switches
  • 47g weight

📦 In the Box

Inside the package:

  • Braided Type-C cable
  • 8K dongle
  • Extra skates
  • User manual

Pretty straightforward accessory package.

🖱️ Design & Build

The first thing you’ll notice is the symmetric cutout shell.

It has:

  • Matte finish coating
  • 2 side buttons
  • Soft tactile scroll wheel
  • Minimal RGB indicator
  • Visible internals through the shell 👀

The overall design feels very minimal and comfy rather than flashy gamer aesthetic.

And honestly… the coating is probably one of my favorite parts of this mouse.

I’ve used quite a few gaming mice, but I always kept returning to my old G502 mainly because of that smooth matte texture on the clicks. Many modern mice either feel too rough or too slippery.

This one actually feels really comfortable for long sessions, especially if you have sweaty or touch-sensitive hands.

🏗️ Build Quality

Now because of the lightweight hollow cutout design, there is some flex if you intentionally press the thinner areas.

But during normal gaming usage?
Honestly, I barely noticed it.

No creaking issues on my unit either so far, and shell is made out of carbon fiber so regardless of the flex, this is quite durable.

So unless you aggressively squeeze your mouse, it should be perfectly fine.

⚡ Performance

Specs:

  • PixArt 3950 sensor
  • 8K polling rate
  • Optical switches
  • Tri-mode connectivity

And performance-wise, it delivered exactly what I expected.

✅ No disconnects
✅ Smooth tracking
✅ Accurate micro-adjustments
✅ Very responsive clicks

No complaints during gaming.

🔋 Battery & Software

Battery:

  • 300mAh
  • Roughly 2-3 days depending on usage and power settings

Software:

  • Web-based software support
  • Lets you adjust:
    • DPI
    • Polling rate
    • LED colors
    • Dongle lighting
    • and much more...

The functionality is there, but the UI definitely feels a bit rough and could use refineme2nt.

🤔 One Thing I Didn’t Like

The 8K dongle design.

It looks cool with that capsule-style aesthetic, but:

  • requires an extra cable
  • needs separate desk space
  • can’t be neatly stored inside the mouse

I honestly would've preferred a simpler USB dongle design. Though this is not limited to this mouse it's pretty common with most of the mice out there.

✅ Pros

✔️ Extremely smooth matte coating
✔️ Lightweight (<50g)
✔️ Great gaming performance
✔️ Optical switches = no double-click issues
✔️ Comfortable grip shape
✔️ Carbon fiber shell feels unique
✔️ No creaking

❌ Cons

❌ Some shell flex due to hollow design
❌ Software UI needs improvement
❌ 8K dongle setup feels inconvenient
❌ Not major but Dongle lighting can be distracting at times

🏁 Final Verdict

The biggest highlights for me were:

  • the coating
  • comfort
  • lightweight feel
  • reliable gaming performance

And the carbon fiber shell + optical switches should also make it a pretty durable long-term option. The software could definitely be polished more, and the dongle setup isn’t my favorite… but overall, I genuinely enjoyed using this mouse 🎯

Community review request

Hey Fam,

Let me know if you want a review for any keyboard.

I've already covered most of the requested boards here: https://youtube.com/@santaxp32

Also don't spam by asking "suggest board under X budget, just search through reddit for that"

[Review] Epomaker Carbon60 - A True Travel Friendly Mechanical Keyboard 👀

Low-profile keyboards are getting more popular lately, but most “premium” options end up being heavy aluminum bricks.

So when I saw the Epomaker Carbon60, the biggest thing that caught my attention wasn’t the RGB or switches it was the carbon fiber build.

And after using/modding it for a while, I think this keyboard fits a very specific type of user.

📦 Unboxing

Inside the box:

  • Braided Type-C cable
  • Extra switches + keycaps
  • Branded puller
  • USB dongle
  • User guides

Pretty decent accessory package overall.

The keyboard itself looks very clean and minimal. The carbon fiber texture actually looks nice in person, and the small strap adds a bit of character without overdoing it.

🪶 Build Quality & Portability

This is where the keyboard stands out.

  • Around 435g weight
  • Extremely lightweight
  • Very sturdy for the size
  • Almost no flex despite being super slim

Honestly, this thing feels like the perfect “throw it in your backpack” keyboard.

Unlike aluminum low-profile boards that become heavy travel bricks, this one actually feels practical for portability.

🔋 Specs

  • Tri-mode connectivity
  • VIA support ✅
  • 3000mAh battery
  • South-facing LEDs
  • Hot-swappable low-profile switches (Gateron)
  • 3-layer sound dampening

Price is around $129, or lower during sales

🌈 RGB

RGB is decent overall.

Not insanely bright, but the transparent switch housings help spread the lighting nicely. Looks much better in person and in darker setups.

⌨️ Typing Experience

This is where things get a bit mixed.

Mine came with Gateron Brown low-profile switches:

  • Tactile feel is decent
  • Nothing bad, but nothing mind-blowing either

The bigger issue for me was:

  • Slight switch dryness
  • Some stabilizer rattle
  • ABS keycaps

And honestly… at this price, I really wish they used PBT keycaps instead.

The stock typing experience is fine, but not something that immediately screams “premium.”

🛠️ Modding Experience

I opened the board and did:

  • Stabilizer tuning
  • Lazy switch lubing
  • Tape mod
  • Added extra foam

And surprisingly… modding this keyboard was actually pretty fun 😅

That said, there are some annoying parts:

  • Ribbon cable latch glued down
  • Stabs require deeper disassembly

So it’s moddable, but definitely require some time to work on.

After mods, the sound became:

  • Fuller
  • Less hollow
  • Better spacebar tone

Not a night-and-day difference, but definitely improved, and felt good.

✅ What I Liked

✔️ Extremely lightweight
✔️ Durable carbon fiber build
✔️ Great travel keyboard
✔️ VIA support
✔️ Tri-mode connectivity
✔️ Modding potential
✔️ Clean minimal design
✔️ Easy to dissassemble

BUT,

❌ ABS keycaps
❌ Disassemble the board to tune stabs

🏁 Final Thoughts

The Carbon60 feels like a keyboard designed for a very specific audience.

If your priorities are:

  • portability
  • lightweight design
  • durability
  • compact travel setup

…then this keyboard actually makes a lot of sense.

There are definitely other options at this price points and Personally, I think this board shines most as a travel-friendly enthusiast keyboard rather than a pure typing-focused board.

And with some mods + better keycaps, it becomes significantly better. 👀

Custom keyboards are addictive… and expensive + Hard to get.
But what if you could get a fully customizable aluminum board starting at ~$69?

That’s exactly what the Akko MOD68 is trying to do, and honestly, it’s one of the most interesting releases I’ve tested recently.

🧩 Customization (The Main Highlight)

This isn’t your typical prebuilt.

With the MOD68, you can configure:

  • Case color & frame (Aluminium)
  • Wired / Tri-mode
  • Switches (I went with Astrolink)
  • Keycaps (tons of options)
  • Plate material and color

Basically, you’re building your own “custom keyboard” without dealing with sourcing parts separately.

💰 Price:

  • Starts around $69 / $80 for wireless
  • Goes up depending on config (mine was higher with tri-mode)
  • Can add discount codes to further lower the price

📦 In the Box

  • USB cable
  • Keycap + switch puller
  • USB dongle (if wireless)
  • L-key for disassembly
  • Dust cover
  • User guide

Pretty complete overall.

🏗️ Build Quality

  • Full aluminum case (~1.2kg) heavy and solid
  • Clean design with rubber grips at the back and a natural typing angle
  • U can either for aluminium or FR4 plates

This is where the keyboard really punches above its price.

🌈 RGB & Aesthetics

  • Bright RGB, looks clean
  • Frosted PC keycaps → nice diffusion + matte feel
  • Overall look is very premium for the price

🔊 Sound & Typing

  • Astrolink switches → stable and surprisingly good
  • Sounds clean out of the box
  • Poron foam present (no switch pad or PET sheet though)

Very good sounding, and definitely better than most prebuilts Hall effect boards in this range.

🛠️ Internals & Modding

  • Hot-swappable (south-facing LEDs)
  • Silicone gasket mount (from product info)
  • 2-layer foam setup

⚠️ Issue:

  • Included L-key is bad
  • Couldn’t properly open the board without a proper screwdriver kit

👉 If you plan to mod → get your own tools.

🎮 Performance

  • 8K polling rate ✔️
  • 0.005mm RT precision ✔️
  • Web-based software (RT + HE settings)

Gaming performance is top-tier, no complaints. I also added the Keyboard inspector and latency test results in the video for those who are interested.

🔋 Battery

  • Massive 10,000mAh battery
  • Easily one of the biggest in this segment

❌ Cons

  • Included L-key is almost useless , rather get your own kit to open the board
  • No switch pad (minor, but noticeable for enthusiasts and is moddable)
  • the left CTRl/ALT/Win key sounds hollow (maybe due to the internal foam cutouts)

✅ Final Verdict

For the price, this is kinda crazy.

You’re getting:

  • Full aluminum build
  • Custom configuration options
  • Great switches
  • Strong performance
  • Huge battery

👉 Starting at ~$69-79, it’s easily one of the best value custom-style keyboards right now, and u can even add discount codes to further reduce the pricing

Just keep one thing in mind:
If you plan to open/mod it, invest in a proper screwdriver kit.

Hi there,

I'm using an old phone with Android 11, it's still going fine but the issue is due to work requirements I need a phone with atleast android 14. Is there any way that I could either bypass the android 14 requirement or upgrade my phone to android 14 without messing up my device.

Device: ROG phone 2

Any help is appreciated thanks

Hey Fam,

It genuinely feels great to say this that I’ve completed almost a year of my mechanical keyboard content journey 🥰 (22nd May 📌)

I started with zero experience in video recording or editing (literally started with a webcam). Just a passion for keyboards… and honestly, a bit of frustration seeing the same scripted reviews everywhere where flaws were ignored completely and no real teardowns or deep dive was done.

Here’s my first attempt to review video (fair warning: lower the volume before watching 😅): Youtube

I’m still not a pro, still learning, experimenting, and most importantly, doing what I enjoy. This community has played a huge role in that, so thank you ❤️

For weeks i've been trying to reach out to lofree support and marketing team, Tried reaching out on discord / emails / instagram and their official chat support.

This is very strange but I don't know how to connect with them

P.S.: I don't own a lofree product 'YET' but this is very concerning. Also I already had shared my concern in the chat earlier , pasted the screenshot of last few msgs... I didn't start with just hello 😅
