The latest in the Bricks and Minifigs saga.
I know you guys don't seem to be too interested in this, but this whole situation is way more interesting than Oak Island. It's gotten world-wide attention, been featured on multiple TV news channels and unlike Oak Island is likely to actually get resolved ... at some stage.
For those late to the party:
- A guy gave his sick Dad's $200 000 lego collection to a Bricks and Minifigs franchise store to sell on consignment.
- Before much of it was sold, Bricks and Minifigs corporate locked out the franchise owners, installed their buddies as new owners and denied the existence of the lego collection.
- The new franchise owners say the consignment agreement was with the old owners therefore all stock in the store is now theirs. The simultaneously claim that the lego collection both doesn't exist and is their property. They direct all enquiries to corporate.
- Corporate directs all enquiries to the new franchise owners.
- The police seem to arrest anyone who asks about the lego collection.
- The owner of the lego was trespassed from the store so he can no longer visit his own collection. Or ask the get it back.
- The new owners promised to return the lego collection that they previously denied the existence of.
- The new owners did not return the legos.
- The local police in Utah did a fully armed SWAT team raid on Reckless Ben and arrested his whole crew after "crime shopping" to find some bullshit to charge them with.
- The value of the lego is too high for small claims court but too low to warrant a lawsuit, ie. the legal fees will kill them.
- The police aren't at all interested in investigating the lego theft, but are very keen to charge anyone who tries to help the guy out.
- Reckless Ben is on the run in Mexico and now apparently being sued by Bricks and Minifigs.
Reckless Ben's Lego Investigation Continues ...
It gets fucking crazy!
Reckless Ben investigates $200 000 lego theft.
Not sure if you guys have heard of Youtube's Reckless Ben. He's infiltrated Scientology, infiltrated the Yellow Deli Cult, and taken down McKamey Manor.
This time he investigates a lego consignment company that apparently took a massive lego collection to sell, didn't sell it, refused to give it back to the owner and then had the owner trespassed when he went to the store to get it back.
He does tend to string his videos out a bit and he loves the clickbait thumbnails ... but he's genuinely achieved more than probably the combined history of all investigative journalism.
[edit] This has gotten pretty big, and it's a hell of a ride. It's been on local Oregon news, the CEO of Patreon has weighed in, and the lego community is in an uproar. 1000x more interesting than Oak Island.
Guy buys broken Bugatti Veyron - Could this be the Oak Island of car repairs?
This is number 1 in a series of videos about this guy's attempts to get his Bugatti running again. You might find some similarities with TV's The Curse of Oak Island such as: Lots of re-caps, 3d animations, a successful business man, a fair dose of people getting Lagina'd, several on-location Euro Trips, and a potentially never ending quest ...
It's actually a pretty good watch. Although I did watch a fair chunk of it at 1.5x speed.
100 year-old logging boom chain, overgrown by an old growth maple
I live on a remote off grid Island in BC called Lasqueti and caretake a piece of property for cabin owners that is a couple hundred acres of old growth and second growth forest. This is one of the coolest finds that I’ve come across.
Just curious, where would you go to get a fedora in the city?
Some thoughts about the ricks ...
- Obsessed with geometry but know nothing about geometry.
- Obsessed with history but know nothing about history or the historical method.
- Obsessed with archaeology but know nothing about archaeology.
Because, you know, if they like knew anything about any of the above, they wouldn't be carrying on about how "something special" happened on that island. The funny thing is that while they're obsessed with the above, they aren't willing to put any effort into learning, like anything, about geometry, history or archaeology.
TICKS
The last 5 years worth of ticks has left me a bit depressed. I grew up walking in the woods almost everyday without a worry and now I can’t even walk in my own yard without finding them on us after we come in. I’ve lived here my whole life and the outdoors has always been very important to me. I don’t even want to walk in the woods these days. The threat of Lyme isn’t worth it to me after seeing it in people I know. The solution of course is to use toxic sprays but that’s equally upsetting to me. I envy states that still have a low threat for now. I’m sure that will change. Have any of you had success keeping them away from your yard and off of you?
How Canada’s first commercial spaceport is taking shape in Nova Scotia
saltwire.comYesterday's rain opened a hole in our driveway and there's wood in there!
Maybe cool, maybe freaky, I honestly don't know what to think. My exhausted home owner brain is so done with the curveballs this old house keeps throwing us.
Tried to shove my cheap endoscope camera in there, it seems fairly deep. Thought I could see a possible wall on the right. There's another 4x4 buried next to this one.
I just don't even know. I want to dig into it and explore but I'm worried about the can of worms I could find and also, I need a driveway..
Now we all know that nature doesn't make straight lines, but what about Similar Triangles?
Do we know if the ricks have heard of these? Are these more or less mysterious than the tree of life? Is there a Rick Method for solving these?
If you're one of the crew on Oak Island and you want to have a sick day, who do you call?
For example if you were surveyor Steve Guptil would you call Marty directly or would you call one of the Fornettis?
“We believe we have identified the largest TAM in human history.”
Apparently, TAM stands for "total addressable market"
As a new day dawns on Oak Island, the brothers Rick, and Marty Lagina were headed to the newly mysterious Lot 12 for some bullshit
Just about to watch (what I think is) The Boys series finale - Will I get Lagina'd?
Or will this be the best series finale in the history of series finales?
