Probably the Most Oak Island TV Show on at the Moment

Probably the Most Oak Island TV Show on at the Moment

There's like a giant pit with a spiral staircase, one or more "mysteries" and each episode (and season) leaves you disappointed.

Not to metion that just as they're figuring things out, someone gets amnesia and we have to watch while them solve the whole mystery all over again.

New episode this Friday.

Halifax Council votes “Yes” to supporting a Universal Basic Income

Mayor Andy Fillmore votes no in the motion (“Letter to Federal Government Reaffirming Support for Basic Income”), which passes 13-3.

The motion was introduced not as a municipal policy to introduce a UBI, but to call on the Government of Canada to do so as a means of addressing the cost of living crisis. Most councillors, if not all, in the discussion acknowledged that the letter itself wouldn’t move the needle much but that it was a fine symbol to support. I’m a bit confused with Trish Purdy’s “no” vote, as they cut off her statement during the discussion but it seemed like she was leaning in support of it?

IMO a Universal Basic Income program will not only be necessary, but urgent to implement in the coming years as we see major shifts happening in our economy, with mass investments and reliance on AI as a prime example. It works in just about every pilot that has been ran, seeing people achieve education goals, find sobriety, start businesses, improve health, etc.

Anyway just posting here to note that it has been discussed on council floor and that more and more people are recognizing that UBI has the potential to lift a ton of people out of poverty!

Love Oak Island

Just want to say that we have been vacationing at Oak Island every year since before some of my kids were born. My youngest is now 18 and we always have a great time, love Oak Island. It's a great place to vacation and relax with family.

Thank you to the community for this wonderful place. I'm counting down now to vacation in August.

How can we define god as omni-benevolent but also claim that humans are incapable of understanding god's benevolence when we were the ones who defined the god as omni-benevolent in the first place?

When we're talking about the tri-omni god and the problem of evil, one of the defences of the god that allows the existence of evil caused by natural events is that the god's benevolence is infinite and we as mere humans could not possibly understand the reasoning behind that infinite benevolence. I've never found this defence convincing but I've never been able to articulate why.

As we know there are many, many natural events that cause horrendous suffering for innocent people. Suffering that a regular person would work to prevent happening to others if they had the opportunity. In fact, many people actually work very hard to forcast natural events and reduce or mitigate the suffering that may come about. This is seen as a good thing. So it's never sat well with me that humans would have such a vastly different definition of benevolence to the god.

It kind of seems like the defensive argument is circular or something similar. Humans defined the god as having infinite benevolence, but then claimed that since the god's benevolence is infinite and humans have far less than infinite intellect there is no possible way that we could understand the god's reasoning. I think this is similar to the "God moves in mysterious ways" phrase.

Humans seemed to have; defined the god as omnipotent, omniscient and omni-benevolent, also defined regular human style benevolence, and then claimed that we are incapable of understanding the omni-benevolent style of benevolence.

When someone questions the god's benevolence, it's like: "Don't ask me I just came up with the definition, I'll never understand it either."

Bugatti Week Episode 8 - Is it finally fixed this week?

Could this be it? Was last episode's slipping clutches all just a running in issue? Did he re-build his gearbox in record time? Did he give up and just pay Bugatti to do all the work? Does he just drive it regardless of his busted gearbox?

No New Bugatti Video Today

Has the Bugatti guy reached the bottom of his personal money pit?

He was releasing a new vid every Tuesday, but his latest video is running late. I won't give away any spoilers but last time things ended rather badly. Is he going to give up like a regular person or keep going, Rick and Marty style? Stay tuned.
