Boyfriend wants to open relationship but is jealous of other men.

i’m a monogamous woman in a monogamous relationship and my boyfriend wants to explore intimacy with his female friends he already has loosy goosy boundaries with. I’m not interested in that lifestyle.

he tells me i can have a girlfriend if i want. But then i ask him if he feels the same way about me seeing other men? his answer is no. he later said i guess it’d be okay as long as he is sleeping with other women.

i’m bisexual but don’t naturally like most men so i think he isn’t threatened by me exploring anything with a man as he tries to open up our relationship. Also i think it fetishizes queer women and undermines queer relationships, as if there is noooo way id leave him for a woman??

isn’t this hypocritical?!? Why should i be told that im jealous and insecure over him breaking my boundaries with his friends but if i did the same with a man (which i have no interest in) it’d be unthinkable???

how should i proceed with this? Are we cooked?

Help with basic nighttime & daytime skincare routine

Hey guys! I’m not much of a skincare/makeup person, but want to up my skincare routines.

currently i only use whatever hand soap i have to wash my face (i usually don’t have makeup to remove) and then i use a CeraVe moisturizer. Round Lab sunstick when i go out.

but i’ve heard about toners, retinols, vitamin Cs, cleansers.

what is the best order to use them in at night/in the morning?

i‘m not sure if i have oily or dry skin. When i wake up in the mornings, my skin is usually oily especially around my nose and forehead. But after i wash my face, i must quickly put on moisturizer as i feel my face drying. So maybe i have dry skin?

any advice on skincare steps as well as products you use would be appreciated:)))

Polybombing question

Has anyone in this subreddit experienced polybombing?

I‘m monogamous and i don’t want to generalize all poly people, but sometimes i feel like desiring more openness while knowing your monogamous partner doesn’t want to explore anything with anyone but you creates this sense of non-threatening environment.

Like my ex started calling me jealous and insecure of his female friends bc he wanted to explore intimacy with them and i was not comfy w that. BUT IF I was also snuggling in the middle of the night with my male friend he’d freak the fuck out. Like he was jealous over random ass things when i’d occasionally hang out with my male friends. Asking shit like “does he have a gf”, which ive never asked when he’s hung out with any of his female friends + planned solo travels with them.

He’d say i was the reason he had less female friends (bc im not ok w him being intimate) but he actually ended a friendship between a guy friend and i over deadass nothing.

he also announced himself monogamISH at the end instead of having a serious conversation with me about our relationship’s future. Which i think is so lame. Just have the balls to say you want more openness and end the relationship rather than throw your partner into confusion like that.

So i’m confused, why was he expecting me to be okay when he’d break my boundaries but if i did the equivalent it’d be unthinkable? Is it because it was convenient to just have a partner that’s not interested in openness so you don’t feel threatened?

Compartmentalizing and non-monogamy

Do you think there’s a possible pattern to how monogamous and non-monogamous people differ? Maybe some poly people are just better at compartmentalizing? Like intimacy with one person doesn’t take away your love for your partner typa thing.
saying this cuz my ex who turned out to be poly would explore intimacy with other women and didn’t feel horrible about it, nor distance himself from me. To me that’s compartmentalizing, to be able to separate relationships like that.

Me personally, i wouldnt be able to look my partner in the eye if i explored anything with anyone else.

What are yalls thoughts?

How do you navigate a relationship while not being able to orgasm?

I’m a woman and i can’t really orgasm easily during sex. I looooove the process of penetration, but i usually don’t come in the process.

For some reason my clit gotta be hit at a certain angle or with certain pressure for me to feel an orgasm, when i touch myself outside of sex i can sometimes orgasm. And oral sex most of the time just feels slimy and not super interesting, and i feel like i cant relax and enjoy it because he is so focused on me orgasming so i feel a lot of pressure.

Honestly i don’t care about orgasming, i just really enjoy other aspects of sex! My question is, how do navigate with this in a relationship? Men sometimes see it as a challenge to make you cum, and when you don’t they seem not as satisfied. My ex definitely didn’t feel as connected to me during sex because i wouldn’t “orgasm at the same time” like his partner before me did.

like i do appreciate that he wanted me to feel pleasure and if i put myself in his shoes i‘m also like damn i can’t make my bf come, so i do understand how they feel.

but i don’t wanna focus on this during sex, knowing my partner is putting so much effort into me cumming puts so much pressure on me that i cant even relax and enjoy sex, but at the same time, i’d be also annoyed if he was just focusing on himself? I wish i could just orgasm easily so i wouldn’t have to deal w this:((

Does anyone know how to navigate this?

TLDR: i cant come easily and dont want to feel the pressure to during sex. Buttt i also want my partner to care that i’m satisfied and i definitely see the male POV in this. Am i doomed?

How do you feel about your partner fantasizing and masturbating to his female friends?

My ex would claim that fantasies were normal and that he'd rotate between fantasizing about having sex with different female friends of his when masturbating.

I personally could naturally only think of him when masturbating. I'm probably not as much of a fantasizer so i'd like to understand how it works. And I agree we are wired differently, how do yall feel about this?

Why do people on this subreddit say poly is a choice?

I’m fully monogamous but i have to disagree when people say being polyamorous is a choice.

like I agree you can CHOOSE that lifestyle for sure, and i think it’s best that poly people do so and seek relationships with other poly people, instead of forcing themselves into monogamy.

Saying this as i let go of someone who struggled with monogamy for years in three different relationships.

some people can truly fall in love with more than one person (i don’t think most monogamous people can), i think it’s the way of life most authentic to them? It absolutely shattered my heart to find out my ex is exploring emotional intimacy with other women, but to him it was normal as in his brain one doesn’t affect another. To him he didn’t want to be in a relationship where he can’t cuddle with others, but to me that was threatening since i know that can be very intimate and deepen emotions. Again, he was not threatened by having feelings for multiple people. We can be wired so differently!

I personally would never again date someone that struggles with monogamy, if being poly or other forms on non-monogamy feel better to them, i think it’s best we go our separate ways. If not, they’ll be forced into a dynamic where they do cheat on us by blurring boundaries that just naturally do not make sense to them, which is what happened w my ex.

Do you think you can trust a monogamous partner more?

my ex had a background in polyamory and deep down struggled being monogamous long term (which is why i let him go).

he had confessed his feelings to me when he was still w his gf at the time and was full on exploring intimacy w me by blurring boundaries, (they broke up shortly after for other reasons but his feelings for me definitely added to the fire) so when we were getting together months later i knew he can kind of compartmentalize like that and not feel guilty about exploring intimacy w others besides his partner. He also would proudly claim that he can fall in love with more than one person at once and there’s no such thing as “emotional cheating”. Don’t ask me why i said yes when he decided to be monogamous to be with me🤣🤣

i feel like knowing this about his personality and core belief system made me more jealous and controlling? Knowing if he explores the intimacy he did with me it’ll happen again that he develops deep feelings for someone. So sadly i was not happy to see him grow deeper friendships w women (like he did w me) bc of what would happen (i was correct and he did in fact repeat his patterns). But deep friendships are awesome and i don’t want to be the kind of person who worries over that w my partner.

i think if i was someone who is truly monogamous like me, with intuitive boundaries, and isnt able to indulge in multiple emotional attachments without feeling terrible about it, i’d have an easier time trusting in our future together and not worrying if he’ll one day tell me he has fallen in love with someone else. But maybe i’m naive. What are yalls thoughts?

What do you do with all the post break-up clarity?

Do you ever wonder if having this clarity (and the self discovery and pattern recognition that comes with it) during the relationship would've saved it?

How to not lose desire when stressed?

post breakup clarity is that i cannot fully enjoy/want sex when i am stressed/in my head. for me sex is best when i’m relaxed and happy. i was stressed because i knew i was the sole sexual partner to my partner who was poly before me, and i knew he had sexual desires i couldn't fulfill, deep down i knew he wouldn't be satisfied with just me long term. i wasn't aware of this at the time, but sex over time became filled with anxiety of not being/doing enough (he would say i didn't desire him like his previous partners did), rather than something i truly craved. as i naturally want sex when i’m relaxed, i wasn’t as into smashing in random parking lots or other places people might spot us, but those were big fantasies of his. We definitely did do that but not as much as he wanted. he started going soft too so i got more in my head and was so anxious every time we'd have sex that he'd "lose the spark" as he put it. i was also so busy and stressed in grad school and i don't think he empathized with that...

lowkey thought i was asexual for a minute, then he said i’m lesbian, but no, i love sex with someone i love, just can't relax when there is so much anxiety and uncertainty.

i'm sad, i feel like i'm not enough and how i love is wrong, and i'm scared of intimacy with others in the future.

anyone else? how do you retain intimacy when super stressed?

Thoughts on “monogamish”?

What is your opinion on the label monogamish?
My ex was poly before me, then decided he only wanted to be with me so chose monogamy, near the end of our relationship he came out as “monogamish” and said he wants to explore emotional (ideally also sexual) intimacy with others. Ideally also swing/threesome in the future, which i am definitely not interested in.

It just doesn’t sit right with me, to be at peace knowing he’s exploring intimacy with other women as someone who can fall in love with more than one person.
But am i too old fashioned? Obviously you can have friends of the opposite sex, but cuddling at night and going to bed together when you have a whole ass partner is strange to me. Same with swinging and threesomes, i think it would forever ruin my relationship to see him have sex with another woman in front of me. I don’t think i can ever be not jealous over that.
What are your takes on being monogamish?

My monogamish ex made me feel asexual

i'm (25f) a few months out of my first relationship and am kinda traumatized from the sexual experience. i personally enjoyed the sex, and it was my first time learning everything too, so i adapted to things he told me he and his exes would do. but i feel like i never figured out what i liked. we did things like rough play and roleplays (as he would tell me hed do with his exes), but then he was like "i feel like you're just horny and you dont REALLY desire me", even though during sex i would be affectionate and say i love yous with eye contact, to which he would say awwww (._.) and just pin me down?!??! like IM the one thats just horny???

and he also would get more aroused than me at the most randomest places and then tell me "you dont desire me" just because i don't wanna fuck in a parking lot. and when i go into a near-death experience car accident where i rolled down the hill, i came home and he was all over me instead of being like - hey my gf just almost died how do i support her?

and i think these insecurities got to his head and he had started to go soft (he made it all about himself like oh i feel so gross when i wanna have sex and you dont), then i would overthink that and be less relaxed during sex, which made sex with him not something i was really craving like before, because it was becoming filled with anxious feelings of not doing enough and not being enough. it was a whole feedback loop.

now i'm like... if i was really into him, would i wanna have sex all the times and all the places that he did? he definitely had more of an adventurous sex fantasy and i was also excited to explore that too, but in his words we werent having "enough" outdoor, public, car sex. like all the times we were just hanging out, he was counting those as times we werent having sex. like bruh i am in grad school i dont even have time or energy to eat dinner:(( he also started talking about us swinging and threesoming in the future, things i've always told him i'm uncomfortable about, i think he was trying to become "monogamish" with me so we could include others in our sex.

i just feel like the way i loved and desired him was wrong, that something in me is broken. now i'm not sure what i like in sex. i'm not really sexually attracted to anyone in this breakup stage, but i fear that i am just not someone that knows how to love or desire... anyways thank you for reading my rant, if you have any advice for me i'd love to hear :,)
