What was the issue?

What was the issue?

This is the junction box for a recessed led lighting in the ceiling

The light went out and I turned off the power and found this. (I took the cap off of the white cables.

Should the ground wire have a cap on it as well??

House was renovated so guess they just never put a cap on it?

Does it get better?

I’ve had TMJ on my left side of my jaw for over yrs

I’ve never experienced pain. Early on just some grinding feeling and at times my jaw would lock when I did a big yawn.

Sometimes it pops out a bit and I have to push it in correctly after I yawn still but not too often.

Does it ever get better? It’s honestly so annoying

How to remove these?

New homeowner here and this is the outlet in the garage. Home is from the 50’s.

What would be the best way to remove this box and pipe in the circles?

Or better yet. Best way to cover the whole it will leave?

So that small box with the cable cut, what is it? Should I just leave it there?

What would you do?

So we bought our first house in march and it was built in 1950. It was a gut Reno and we have central air.

The house gets cold and ac works great! But it only had a thermostat on the first floor.

Upstairs the vents barelyyyyy blow… air return vent works fine and sucks air.

Upstairs is 2 rooms and bathroom. One room is a full walk in closet (my wife) the 2nd is a home office for us.

We are only really there between 9-5pm while working. And between 12-5 it gets very warm if the outside temps go up to 80+ degrees.

So at night we set ac to 68-69 and by morning we set it to 75 because downstairs stays very cool until like 3-4pm. So ac doesn’t run during that time because we set the temp higher.

Would it make sense to buy and install a small window ac unit to put in the window for the days it gets very warm upstairs?

Is it counter intuitive since we have central air?

I’m assuming an hvac tech checking out the system and fixing anything would be more expensive than the power the ac would use.

As we would only use it on super warm days and if someone wis sleeping in the room while visiting.

Thoughts??

Or am I thinking too much. 😩😬😂

Renting your house

Has anyone ever rented out their home after not wanting to live in any longer and renting an apartment? If so, what was your experience like in renting your home? Are you managing it or are you having someone else manage? It is the income worth it and I’m guessing you’d still be responsible for everything within the home like the HVAC and any other repairs that need to be done

Gutter alternatives

Hi all! New homeowner here!

House we bought has no gutters and during huge rain storms the sides get pretty muddy and obviously too close to the house.

Right now gutters are not in the budget, probably next year. But what are some good alternatives to gutters? Anything I can place in the ground?

Can’t figure out why this keeps wobbling

As videos states, it just keeps moving side to side and it’s screwed in tight.

Any thoughts on solution?

What can I do with the pavers?

The last two pictures are the pavers that remain in front of the house. The first picture with the red circle is what it’s currently looking like on the side of the house. We had an underground oil tank removed, and they had to remove the dirt and the pavers. However, there’s obviously a lot of missing space between the pavers and I want to make this all look nice and cohesive what is the best approach here? Should I put mulch underneath or on the sides of the individual pavers and?

Or is there something specific that goes underneath pavers or around them like very fine gravel?

Best way to clear this out

Entire yard looks like this. Weeds everywhere. Bout the house a couple months ago and it was neglected.

What’s the most cost effect way to remove these weeds, and get new grass?

Most of the soil is compacted and kinda dry for the most part.

But every time it rains seems like these weeds grow 20ft overnight.

First time homeowner here btw.

I’ve gotten quotes for a whole lawn redo, like dethatching, soil, seeding. And it’s like 3k for the front and back. But wanna see if I can try to tackle this solo.

Is mold coming back?!

We bought this house in march and it had old mold in the basement. We did a mold remediation the same month and just looked in our basement and looks like it’s coming back? It’s usually pretty cold down there but not sure if this is old mold popping thru or new growing?

What’s the best way to remove this and stop any new growth if it is?

Is this too close to sidewall?

The small nail is in the red circle?

Just curious if this can be patched with a small kit or a whole new tire is needed. Had been slow leaking for a couple weeks just saw it today

Window blinds?

My wife and I just bought this house in march.

We have yet to do much in the kitchen and need to put some blinds/curtains/ something for privacy.

This window is facing the yard/garage and the frame is so close to the pantry to the right and it sucks because outside mount blinds would be in the way of fully opening this cabinet.

Any suggestions?? What’s a good alternative to this situation?

New home owner here.

Wanting to put some mulch down and make this all look better, but had some questions:

  1. Do I need to pull all the little green weeds before putting new mulch down?

  2. For the stone pavers, can I put mulch underneath to fill it out make it look nicer?

  3. The big open area is filled in after we had an underground oil tank removed. Can we just put mulch on top of this? That’s what was there before.

Not sure what’s going on with the ac fan? And the noise?

House is set to 70 degrees and set to 68 and for some reason it is not cooling down.

The unit is new and we just bought this house a month ago.

Should the fan always be spinning? What does that sound mean?

First time home owner here!

This downstairs tub has an issue where the water is very cold until you move the handle all the way it can go to H (hot)

Then it feels comfortable enough for a shower but why?

Every other faucet in the house has very hot water including the shower upstairs.

I checked in the basement and made sure the lines were open and the line you see covered in white is the cold water line that I straightened out after the photo.

What could be the reason?
