Book 2 confusion

I just saw a book by Alice Hoffman called Practical Magic 2. It seems to be similar plot wise to The Book of Magic, from the blurb. Is it different or did she rerelease the book under a new name for the movie? Which is movie 2 based on?

How to avoid looking frumpy?

I'm 33/F curvy and have curly hair that's greying / frizzy at times, but I'm also tall, and feel like this has potential for a DA wardrobe but I don't know how to pull it off. Every time I think I do, I see a picture of myself and think it looks frumpy rather than DA.

Does anyone have tips on how to balance frumpy vs DA? Where's the line?

Wanted this to be summery - something is off. How can I fix it?

Hi! I'm not a fan of the pink up top and I feel like it's ruining the summery / Mediterranean vibe I was going for. And maybe something else is off, not sure yet. The door I'm trying to go for an old wood paint feel, but that's not done yet.

Any ideas on how to improve it?

Also yes I know the bear has a beanie on but I'm going to make it summery.

I'm using alcohol markers and have a paint pen for highlights later :)

Terrace help

Hello! I created this spiral staircase and wanted the terrace on top. I put it on a red present on a pillar but the present is really visible.

  1. Is it possible to put it on the pillar without the present?

  2. What are some tips to hide the present here and in general?

And a slightly unrelated question

  1. Is there a way to get around the maximum stacking height? Here I've just put a shelf on the pillar and started putting the slabs there...an inelegant solution

Offenbach timeline?

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone has experience with Offenbach timelines. My wife is an EU citizen and we applied together in June 2024. Our appointment in Offenbach was in September 2024 where they checked and collected all the documents and from there the documents were sent to Darmstadt I suppose. We haven't heard anything yet.

Is this a standard time for Offenbach / Darmstadt?

Prepping for heat physically and mentally

In Germany we're expecting another heatwave, which will potentially be worse than the last.

The tl;dr: My question is, how do I mentally prepare, and lessen or avoid the anxiety that comes with an impending heatwave, knowing that I'll be home alone for most of it, and feeling sick frequently because of it?

I live on the top floor of an apartment building and work from home, so luckily no commute needed. We have a portable air conditioner that works, but when it's multiple days of 35+ or 40 degrees, it only gets the home down to about 26.5-28, depending on the room and if we've closed off other rooms. I've found that the room needs to be below 27 for me to feel okay - above 26.5 is a bit iffy, and then 27+ has me starting to feel sick.

We have lots of windows, all with external blackout blinds that help. Half of the apartment is north facing, half is south. In the morning, the AC is on the south side and the blinds on the north side are down. Then it's switched after about 1pm.

We have a decent cloth covering for the gap in the window (it's a tilting window) and put an emergency blanket on the tube - those help a lot.

I'm 33F and on two medications that make me more heat susceptible - and I've never reacted well to begin with (I'll stop sweating and get nauseous really easily). I have a lot of ice packs, light foods, light clothing, water and electrolytes. We also have 2 standing fans and 2 ceiling fans, and some desk fans.

I'm also aware that I'll be home alone until the heat passes, except for the evenings and mornings when my spouse is not at work. And I have a walking pad to avoid being too stationary, which will also help with my health.

I'm still freaking out seeing multiple days of 35+ temps and even up to 45. I get really anxious because I know how hard, tricky, and lonely it'll be, and that I'll most likely feel sick most days. I'm tired of being worried about this when I'm as prepared as I can be.

So my two questions:

  1. How do I mentally prepare to handle this?

  2. Is there anything else I can do to prepare or to motigate the heat that I haven't listed above?

Cooling in between heatwaves - best tips?

The heatwave in Germany is finally done! But there might be another one in two weeks. What are your tips for cooling the home after the heatwave? I can still feel the heat emanating from the walls, but I'm not sure how to help speed the cooling process up.

I'm from the US, so even though I know lots of things to keep a home cool, I'm not used to cooling buildings that are made to retain heat - especially on the top floor.

We have a portable air conditioner, two tall fans and some desk ones, and loads of windows that open on the north and south sides of the apartment. I'm trying to optimize airflow today by strategically placing the fans but the air seems to just get stuck, and the walls are so warm.

Expanding set from 104 - what to buy?

Thank you to anyone taking the time to read and answer this. I've read posts on Reddit but I'm still confused, so I also apologize for the repeat question!

I have the 104 set https://amzn.eu/d/02eHeVCn

But I'd like more colors, particularly more browns and greens, and maybe blues - what should I get to avoid having repeat colors?

LF Haymitch fics

Just finished Sunrise on the Reaping and I'm looking for Haymitch fics, something with any of the following:

- Haymitch's loved ones live (some/all of them)

- Haymitch and Katniss interactions (written after SOTR came out)

- Haymitch volunteers for Peeta

- Haymitch falling in love with one of the Donner's after the games

- anything with Haymitch being a little bit happier or more stable 🥺
