It's ok just to say "hot dog".

The world wasn't clamoring for fucking "glizzies." Everything doesn't have to be some contrived bullshit.

Question for longer-time locals

In 2023, I had a major motorcycle malfunction on a long road trip and limped my bike into town from the north. The first shop I came to was (I think) Fort Bragg Cycle Supplies. It was run by a guy in his 70s and his mechanic, who was a girl in her 20s, I'd say. They specialized in Harleys and he had a number of them in the storefront. He helped me a bunch and I really appreciated it.

In May this year, I rode back and found the place empty, which was a bummer. Do any of you know who they are and if he/they are still around anywhere? I was going to buy them both a bottle of tequila, which they said at the time was kind of a shop tradition.

The shop was at 1290 Main St, according to google maps. It's behind a fence now.

Council won’t fix the damp in my flat, any advice?

I moved into the property in feb 2024 and have repeatedly reported issues with damp starting around a month after, I’ve had the housing inspector out 3/4 times for him to tell me the same thing “I’ll get it pushed along for you” but nothing happens I just can’t seem to get anywhere with it, I first noticed damp in the stairwell which had been freshly painted 2 weeks before we moved in by the council so they clearly knew about the damp, there’s also mould in my bedroom and I’ve discovered more mould in my bathroom under the flooring, the flooring has been down since we moved in and we’re looking to replace it but I won’t be able to unless I get this sorted first, I just keep going around in circles with it, I’ll attach some pictures so you can see but I’m kinda at a loss right now, I’m also trying to find a mutual exchange rn which is hard enough without the on going damp issues, I just wondered if anyone has any advice?

"I was gonna do that."

The moment I was doing it, you were "gonna do it." Cool. We can turn "I was gonna do that" by just doing it. Instead of setting the bowl down on the counter, rinse the bowl and put it in the dishwasher or wash the bowl and put it away. Strip the bed and wash the sheets when you notice it's time. Move your laundry out of the washer before I need to wash a load.

For Christ's sake, though, stop waiting until I'm doing a chore to tell me how you were going to. Tell me you were going to does not earn you credit for having done a fucking chore.

Support Local Businesses

Cut the shit, local business owners.

I try. I really do. If I need something I think I can get locally - for instance, today, some splitboard hardware - I'll try to buy locally. But if I call to ask if you have something in stock to save me a 60 mile round trip and your fucking dingleberry employees can't be bothered to listen to what I'm saying or don't bother actually looking into my request, then fuck your local business.

***

To be clear: I need tension clips for my splitboard. They hold the two halves of the board together. I gave the part name, the company that makes them, and sxplained their purpose.

The guy said "you want binding buckles?"

I told him no and repeated what I need. He attempted to put me on hold and botched that so I could hear what was happening in the background when he asked a coworker "do we have binding clips for this guy's splitboard?"

Motherfucker, did I say binding clips?! And of course, since "binding clips" aren't an actual part, his coworker said no. This is what is called "the point of diminishing returns." Explaining myself again would have frustrated us both so I just gave up.

I get it. I've worked in the ski industry off and on for the last 25 years. We all live in a tourist area with lots of traffic from people who have no idea what they're doing or talking about. But to find that out...you have to fucking LISTEN.

So...fuck your local business. I'll order my stuff online until you get your shit together or go under and blame people for not supporting you.

Oliva Serie V pigtail. Never had one of these

Sotting in the yard under a big beautiful thunder cloud with my wife and dog, having a rum and getting ready to smoke.

Great day. Stayed in bed late, hit the gym, went river tubing, and now a perfect, chill evening.

Cheers.

*edit*

Nice burner and very mild.

I don't know what words mean...

...so any misuse of words by me is what they mean now and if you disagree, "you're dumb/ok boomer" and/or "that's how language evolves."

Language is better when words have no meaning. It helps with communication.

That's why I milk the fork on freeway lampstand corporation bathtub.

LEASH. YOUR. CHILDREN

Please leash your children.

I don't appreciate them running up to my responsibly leashed dog with their hands and face in his face, putting boogers and other human residues on him and trying to get me sick, all while smelling like piss and cheerios in sour milk.

I don't care if they're "friendly" or they just want to pet him or if they "don't scare dogs" or "have never reacted that way before."

If my leashed dog bites your unleashed kid, it's my dog who gets punished, not your nasty little larvae.

Addendum

STOP putting "Service Child" vests on them. They do not need to go into stores or on airplanes with you where the rest of us have to interact and be confined with them.

And if not...is anyone down for a Critical Mass? I think if I did one, I'd want to start at maybe UNR and McCarran and head to a location where everyone could kick it at the end, like The Hideout or Ryan's or 40 Mile. Further south is fine, too.

I'm open to suggestions, for sure.
