Show us your PC setups for gaming work.

I just saw a user post their PC and loved it, thought I might want to see what everyone uses.

show us what you use for gaming, or productivity!

I do LLMs, (sorry gamers, I'm guilty of the rising prices).

Real question

we always want to have the best partner ever, but we never really think about their perspective.

why would your desired partner choose you over someone else ?

Entitlement

I think us as a society have lost the skill of "putting up" with things, aka"compromise".

back in the day, you instant you hear the word "marriage" it is always accompanied by "compromise" or "conceding" / "تنازلات".

you don't hear that anymore. In fact, all you hear is "what more I can get", and then you complain why divorce rates are over the roof.

being patient, compromising, understanding, and willing to delay your gratification is a MAJOR skill in achieving success.

it's not only in relationships, it is in everything.

We also should discard the idea of "someone better will come", if you find an opportunity then seize it.

God didn't promise to compensate you in this life, the reward in the hereafter, so don't expect your patience, charity.. etc to pay off in this life, God didn't promise you that.

if you get rewarded in this life then Allah is the most merciful, if you get nothing, then he didn't promise you anything in the first place.

learn to be patient, and give opportunities the true value they deserve, don't be arrogant.

looking for an old game

the game was around 2000-ish era.

I only remember the first moments as it was scary, it starts at night with naked people running away, you have a machine gun and you can shoot said people if you wish, after you walk a bit, you find a port and if you fall into the water, there might be a massive fish that devours you.

the game was scary at the time, and it gives similar vibes to Blood.

You may remember me as someone paranoid, I had issues with my studies with winter term full withdrawal due to the expiry of my SP, the expiry was caused by my mistake, as I applied for a student visa mistakenly rather than SP extension.

that being said, all terms were full-time, and no extra term was taken.

SD not showing proper app icon unless it is a shortcut

as the title suggests, my stream deck Plus only shows the icon if the app is launched through a shortcut, and not from the main folder.

this was not an issue in the past.

the image shows Msi afterburner, the left one is a shortcut, and it displays the icon.

the right one only displays the placeholder icon because it is launched from the main folder.

obviously this is a big problem because I don't want to fill my desktop with shortcuts.

i have tried everything, deleted the cache, uninstalled/installed SD..etc

running ver 7.4.2 (22730)

Was B2 three months before this test

I’m not a native English speaker. I’m 27 y/o, I never seriously studied English. What I know came mostly from years of watching anime with subtitles, browsing the internet, and picking things up along the way.

Three months before taking this test, I scored B2. Nothing extraordinary. My writing score would usually fluctuate between 6.5 and 7, depending on the day, for the few tests I have participated in in the past.

Then something unexpected happened.

One morning, I was walking to college with a group of friends. They were discussing a crime novel by Agatha Christie. At first, I paid little attention, but as they spoke, I noticed something fascinating. Their voices carried genuine excitement. The way they passionately described whatever scene they thought of, It wasn't just a conversation, there was soul in their words.

The problem was that I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.

I was virtually allergic to reading books, it is a thing of the past - I convinced myself, it can't pack more value than animate series with OSTs and superb VA - I thought.

Curiosity got the better of me.

I decided to pick up a novel of my own. Not a crime novel. I was interested in anything that has nothing to do with our world, so sci-fi and fantasy setups it is. I read a book, Then another. And another.

Before I knew it, I was completely addicted.

I would spend entire days reading, sometimes 9 or even 10 hours at a stretch, a thousand or so pages per week. Every chapter pulled me deeper. New stories, new plot twists, inner, what-if theories..etc Every story made me eager to turn the next page. I wasn't reading to improve my English. In fact, I had no intention to do so as I was satisfied with my level at that point. I was reading because I genuinely wanted to know what happened next.

Three months later, I thought, "Why not test my English again?"

The results genuinely surprised me.

It felt almost unreal how much progress I had made in such a short period. Reading had expanded my vocabulary without any conscious effort. New expressions, sentence structures, and turns of phrase simply became familiar through repetition. I wasn't memorizing word lists or drilling grammar exercises, albeit I use google translate for words I don't recognize. I was enjoying stories, and the learning happened naturally in the background.

Now I'm attempting the same experiment with French.

The difference is that English was always somewhere in the background of my life. French, on the other hand, is a true foreign language for me. Right now, I know almost nothing.

We'll see what happens.

I'll come back in six months or so and post my TCF/TEF results.
