I just finished DD Netflix S3 rn and dear God...

This was the best thing I've ever seen in a show. Really, seriously. I don't give a damn about what people say which is the best show ever, if it's Breaking Bad or whatever crap people is into. THIS is GOLD to me.

Incredible, amazing, mesmerizing... I never thought in the same year I'd become a DD fan and watch the whole netflix show + defenders. This was... phew, this was a pretty damn good ride!

I have absolutely no idea on what to do next. Right now I guess I'm going to take a break and finally open my daredevil season ML action figure to cheer and just... wow, contemplate and enjoy the moment. That was A LOT!

Oh, and before I forget: R.I.P Nadeem.

EDIT: Ok forget what I said, I guess I'll just stare a white wall. I'M NOT OKAY!

Why everyone who talks about anime character development is hyper fixated with the "seinen big 3" and never put other classic animangas characters alongside them, like Kenshiro (HNK) and Kenshin Himura (RK), characters that are totally on the same vibe as Thorfinn, Musashi and Guts?!

I’ve been thinking about this for a while: why is it that whenever people online talk about “the best anime/manga character writing,” the conversation almost inevitably turns into the same trio — Thorfinn, Musashi and Guts?

Don’t get me wrong: I love all three characters, and I completely understand why they’re praised. Vinland Saga, Vagabond and Berserk have incredible writing, and their protagonists deal with some genuinely complex themes: violence, trauma, guilt, identity, purpose, redemption, and the search for a meaningful life after becoming consumed by violence.

But then I look at characters like Kenshin Himura and Kenshiro and think: how are these guys almost never brought into the same conversation?

Kenshin in particular feels like an obvious example. A former assassin who spent his youth killing people for a cause, eventually becoming horrified by what he had become and dedicating the rest of his life to finding a way to live without taking another life. His entire character is built around the contradiction between Battousai the Manslayer and Kenshin, the man trying to atone for what Battousai did.

And Kenshiro has a similarly fascinating journey, just expressed through a very different kind of story. Beneath all the absurdly powerful martial arts and post-apocalyptic spectacle, Hokuto no Ken is deeply concerned with grief, loneliness, compassion, masculinity, violence, responsibility and what it means to remain human in a world that constantly demands brutality from you.

So why don't these characters get mentioned alongside the “seinen big 3”?

I honestly think part of the answer is internet culture, the way people consume media today, and the prejudice surrounding tags and labels that prevents people from bringing other works into the discussion.

Once a certain group of works becomes established as the examples of “peak character writing,” people start discussing character development through that particular framework. Then the same handful of characters get used as reference points over and over again, while everything outside that circle gradually disappears from the conversation.

And that's especially ironic when we're talking about works like Berserk, Vagabond and Vinland Saga, because none of them appeared out of nowhere. They exist within a much larger history of manga and anime that explored many of these ideas before them.

It's not about saying “Kenshin is better than Thorfinn” or “Kenshiro is better than Guts.” That's completely subjective and honestly misses the point.

The point is that these characters belong to the same broader conversation.

That edit of the three of them sitting together, taking a sip of tea? Kenshiro and Kenshin should be at the table with them!

Kenshin's struggle with violence, guilt and redemption isn't somehow less sophisticated because Rurouni Kenshin is a shonen. Kenshiro's compassion and humanity aren't less meaningful because Hokuto no Ken is an older, more straightforward action manga.

It feels like people simply pick up whatever is currently popular to talk about and dismiss what is historically important or genuinely well-written just because it carries a different genre label, even when it explores many of the exact same themes as the works currently being praised.

The classics didn't just sit around waiting for modern manga to become good. They helped build the road that modern manga is walking on.

So yeah, I really wish people would expand the conversation a little. Broaden their horizons and let the prejudice shrink.

Let's read the classics. Let's look backwards. There are decades of incredible characters sitting there, and some of them were wrestling with exactly the same questions we're praising modern protagonists for asking today.

They deserve to be brought back.

Another weevil successfully rescued by the Weevil Rescue Squad!

Hello, my friends. Yesterday, Mr. Fluffy spotted something in the kitchen. When I went there to see, turns out he found a little guy that looked a lot like a weevil to me. Well, as you know of our record of one(1) weevil that came to visit me and we successfully rescued so far, we decided to make it two and help this little fella too.

Btw, I'm lack enough knowledge about the weevilkind, so, if someone can clarify to me and help me make sure this guy is, indeed, a weevil, or a honorary one, I'd be thankful.

I always observed people as they gave high praises to Daredevil. Now, I see myself converted as one of those very people.

Hey, guys, so, I've just started watching the DD show in the last weeks and dear God... Now I'm thinking this character is better than Batman and Spiderman.

I'm about to watch the episode 13 of season 1 today and man... What a ride! The only marvel shows I've watched were Moon Knight and then Loki and I never thought I'd see a show as good as Loki this year, god damn!

Can I join his fanclub now?

Eu finalmente retornei ao hábito da leitura!

Sempre gostei de histórias em quadrinhos. Eu lia bastante quando mais jovem, mas, depois que entrei no ensino médio, dificilmente passei a ler.

Na última sexta não tinha expediente no trabalho mas eu fui mesmo assim, sem saber. Ao dar de cara com o portão fechado e voltar, decidi finalmente botar os pés numa banca de revistas que fica na esquina. Depois de verificar algumas HQs, encontrei uma que se destacou e, por algum motivo, me chamou atenção.

Depois de folhear um pouco e ver a arte, senti uma curiosidade que nunca mais havia sentido.

Eu perguntei o preço e estava bom. Porém, achei que era melhor não gastar na hora, mesmo tendo dinheiro sobrando.

Então eu saí e comecei a andar até o ponto de ônibus, porém, no meio do caminho, senti uma coisa me dizendo que a melhor hora pra aproveitar aquela história era AGORA. A curiosidade quase infantil que eu estava sentindo não iria mais se manter na semana seguinte, disso eu tinha certeza.

Então, eu aproveitei isso e, como havia tido um péssimo dia anterior, decidi voltar lá pra comprar e tentar espairecer as ideias focando numa história nova.

E dito e certo, foi a melhor escolha que eu poderia ter feito. Já havia lido comentários sobre O Homem Animals antes, mas eu não sabia que era TÃO BOM assim.

Quando eu era adolescente eu lia mangás +18 como Tokyo Ghoul e AoT e só podia imaginar o que tinha de tão especial em histórias mais maduras como da Vertigo comics.

Na última sexta, eu finalmente entendi.

Hoje, finalizei a leitura. Eu propositalmente arrastei pra poder passar o máximo de tempo saboreando. Mal posso esperar pra partir pra próxima leitura (dessa vez online) : The Maxx, de Sam Kieth.

Thes characters and a slightly better writing could have saved MCU's She-Hulk

U-Foes, Titania and Absorbing man as introduced villains. I know ab man was already in Agents of Shield but screw it, nobody cares about that show.

We could have gotten Sasquatch as an anti-hero or occasional confused villain.

And the best part: Rick The Goat Jones and Doc Samson. Those guys alone would be just perfect.

Imagine how many possibilities we would have in the MCU now if we got all this up to be used in the next Avengers movies.

Which figure's boots would fit this Savage He Man in order to make a custom Conan?

So basically most Conan figures and classic comic depictions have this kind of leather boots seen in many marvel legends figures.

Besides, I've came to the conclusion that the Savage he-man would give a much better body for this customization, despite the regular MOTU he-man not being a bad decision either.

What do you guys think? Should I proceed with this boots swap or just go for a straight repainting of a regular motu he-man despite his worse body mold?

I was really afraid to hurt or get hurt by him. I didn't know what this guy was.

He suddenly appeared in my bedroom sheets, surprisingly alive after meeting my kitties. I didn't know if it was dangerous to them and I was afraid they could somehow kill him.

After some maneuvers, I managed to get him back to the wilderness. Safe travels, little one!
