Accidently became a RAM 1500 owner...

Been looking for a truck for a while. This is only to tow with, a dozen times a year or so. Just seemed like a coin flip between the F150 and a RAM1500.

Found an auto auction by me, and this was the nicest truck (that wasn't $8k+) on the lot. Got it for $4000.

Not a spec of rust on it, one of my main concerns living in the rust bucket belt.

Frame damage on a F150

So I'm interested in buying this 2011 F150 XLT with 191k miles. During inspection I saw this. It's towards the front end of it.

The entire purpose of this vehicle is to tow with. I'll at most put 2k-3k miles a year. Is this worrying damage for a vehicle that will be towing?

Thoughts on my estimate?

I'm located in the Poconos PA. Had about 8 contractors come out, this was the only 1 that actually followed through, so I come to reddit to see.

TLDR Having an addition done about 8x12 covered screened in porch, siding the whole home (600 sqft raised ranch, only half of the raised is exposed in the front), 4 new windows.

2010 Dodge RAM 1500 with 130k miles.

Buying it for $3650 and an 03 BMW 525i.

Pretty sure I'll be going through with it just wanted others opinions. The bit of rust this has is nothing compared to some rust buckets I've seen. I live in PA so lots of salt.

I will specifically using this to tow. Not as a daily. My camper, and a trailer and do projects and what it.

Anyone notice anything I didn't? No pictures of the frame but they said it's very solid.

[US] Truck for sale for $1.5k, including shipping when it's worth somewhere around $5k. Too good to be true?

This was a sponsored ad on Facebook Market place. The message I got after asking them "what's the catch?" Was this:

The truck has 113,808 miles, an automatic transmission, and a 6.0L V8 engine. It has been well maintained, serviced only at dealerships, and always stored indoors.

This truck belonged to my father, who recently passed away, and selling it has become a priority for me after moving to Lincoln, Nebraska for a new job.

I’m asking $1,500 and hoping to sell it to someone who will actually use and appreciate it.

Because I am currently on a military base for training, the truck is already with Shiply in Nebraska and ready for delivery. So there would be no delivery cost to you. Shiply handles the process safely for both sides—you would be able to receive, inspect, and test the truck before any payment is released to me.

If you’d like to move forward, please send me your full name, complete delivery address, phone number and email address so I can start the process with Shiply.

2001SportTrac with 130k miles

This will be my first truck. Looks like it's in really good shape and the price is decent too.

My main concern is that I solely plan on towing with it (camper, trailer etc) and I've read a lot about the timing chains and transmission. I'd be putting under 2500 miles a year with it.

Should I get it?

2003 525i

So I bought this off of auction on a whim ($750) with no keys ($325) and I'm trying to get it up and running. So far I've replaced the battery ($200) and did an oil change/added coolant ($80). I turned the key and start right up, I was very surprised considering it likely sat for 5+ years.

It stays running for the most part. Sometimes I gotta give it gas cuz the idle seems to be acting weird. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but first ever BMW.

Any guesses as to why it idles like this? Is it the alternator? Also makes a buzzing sound after it dies, is that an indication of anything?

Bonus points if anyone knows it's normal for the digital dash to be how it is, that's not a camera trick it's how it actually looks.

2nd septic?

For a while I've suspected I had a 2nd septic tank. As there was a basement bathroom, about 5' under the existing septic.

While digging for a leaking water line I found this. It wouldn't be anything else, right? Could it be a well? Looks about 3" in diameter. Not sure if it's the age but looks like layers of a material.

Can you tell the size?

So I got a leak in my water line and was quoted $12k to replace. Obviously not doing that, just looking to see if anyone can tell what size this is, so I can get appropriate fittings to connect to the existing one.

Also this wouldn't be anything other than poly line, right?

[Request] How high would an elephant need to jump...

To make a plane drop... Let's say 10' mid flight?

Just woke up from a nap on the plane, and that's what happened in my dream. Now I'm curious, if even possible.

First day as a CW...

And holy shit. I've never been more convinced on a decision I made being so right. It's exactly how I imagined working in a commercial setting would be, I come from residential.

So many things done the right way. The right amount of people for the right amount of work. I cannot wait until the day where I can take the pledge.

It's been something I've been chasing for 4 years, and finally given the opportunity to put my foot in the door.

Advice on how to install these

So I picked these windows up for free the basement. I didn't realize that they had this weird "track" on the bottom side, while the top side is flat. Am I missing something to install these properly? A 2x4 fits in there standing on the 2" side.

Or at least what this type of window is called so I can look into it? Tried doing a reverse image but just get normal window installation.

Got my foot in the door... 1 step closer!

It's been 3 years since I first started the process at Local 102. Thanks to a fellow redditor I found out Local 375 (which is like 30 min closer) had expanded to my area.

I went in and applied for their CW/CE program and start Monday with my first contractor. Then Tuesday I have my first interview for the apprenticeship at 375. Kinda happy I got into the CW as they placed me as a CW3 so my starting pay (even if I go to the apprenticeship) will be higher to start.

I'm beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity. Keep your head up if you're still in the process, dedication will shine through.

A whole ass noob flipper here... So I won the bid on this 2003 BMW 5 series (https://www.govdeals.com/en/asset/51/30926?utm\_campaign=Transactional%20-%20Outbid&utm\_medium=email&\_hsenc=p2ANqtz--VfbwOZLLCLFc0Y4XsA6Izpp3FFTBO1BsFfzskZAAID6L6brNCvx2rtvMTLLcjbluzly3UfUVEkpc2tdilUyL1hVHREg&\_hsmi=360213843&utm\_content=360213843&utm\_source=hs\_email).

Just entirely on a whim knowing not much about these cars, besides "Beemer!" And having some 2nd doubts on it. Don't know if it's running, and no keys, but it does have a title. Seems to be the key will cost me almost half the price of the car bid. So that made me have some 2nd thoughts.

Worse case scenario is a part out. Will that even make me break even? I'm hoping to get the key, and do basic stuff and it magically work. Might just be the price I paid for a lesson.
