My 13-year-old sister mentioned a few days ago that she wants her first record player. So, being the good brother I am—and someone who uses refurbished gear from the 70s and 80s—I’m looking for a starter turntable for her for around €100 (or preferably less). I already know you shouldn't buy those cheap Chinese suitcase-style players, but I’ve noticed that Dual also makes all-in-one units where you just need to connect speakers; are those any good?

Because those do fully support 7-inch singles but not 12-inch LPs, and I really want to get it right the first time with the budget I have.

I’ve actually been looking at Philips and its sister brands, since they’re widely available, or otherwise the other well-known brands—unless you can recommend a brand that isn't as famous but is still good.

You don't need to offer my condolences. It's been years since my grandfather passed away. It's just that my grandma is moving to a smaller place soon, so we're clearing things out, and I saw it lying in the kitchen drawer and I really wanted to have it. I'm very happy with it now. I'll probably sharpen it sometime soon and put it in the ultrasonic cleaner, because I'm not having a new blade put in it.

My grandfather worked in road construction for years, and that knife was always in his cooler to cut open oranges or slice an apple. I'm not going to say he used it for other things as well.

I am on holiday in Austria for two weeks. I bought a TomTom for myself, since the internet isn't great in the mountains every now and then, and I don't want to be dependent on my phone. However, the holder for my TomTom died on the way there yesterday, and I am actually looking for a new one quite urgently, because it's not nice to have that TomTom lying on the passenger seat.

I arrive in Innsbruck tomorrow and leave on Wednesday. I could possibly have it delivered, but I need to be certain that I receive it within that time.

Now I just need to set up my tent, but where am I walking past?

As you can see in this photo, the mirror in my S80 is completely wrecked. I went to the scrapyard yesterday and found a very nice mirror that doesn't have this problem. However, since it is electric, I would like to disconnect the battery if possible. But my question is, can I do that without having to reprogram things into the computer that I don't have, and will I get error codes because I installed a different mirror?

Because of a company currently painting my Toyota that isn't honoring their agreements, I'm going to look at this S80 tomorrow to go on vacation in two weeks. Are there any other things I need to look out for? The car will probably stay with me until I get my Toyota back, and after that, it will likely go up for again for the same amount or slightly less. I'm actually going into the mountains in Austria, and my mother didn't approve of me going into the mountains with a with a 1-liter engine block:) Thanks for the help in advance, and if anyone knows of a good buyer for a Bluetooth adapter for the radio, I'd like the link, but one that gets delivered quickly.

John Illsley is playing at the Effenaar in Eindhoven on January 17th next year, and my question is if anyone has ever been to his shows. I would actually pay a lot of money if we had a time machine to go back to the 80s and just see Dire Straits, because I am hesitant; I really want to see him, but I don't want to buy tickets now only to be disappointed.
