Asking for the model (and a sad story)

Hi! While looking through a box of things to throw away, I found this AGP graphics card, and I was wondering about the model and if it had anything special about it.

And now for something some of you might have already noticed: "Shouldn't it have capacitors?" Well, here's a story, which is sad for me now: when I was little, I found this card lying around, and since my parents didn't want it, I had the "brilliant" idea to... RIP OUT ALL THE CAPACITORS 😭.

Obviously, it won't work now because it doesn't have those components, but if I could somehow install new capacitors, it should work again, unless the reason my parents didn't want it was that it didn't work in the first place, although I'd say they replaced it with a better one.

My Retro collection

After five years of collecting, I've landed here.

From a very young age, I became fascinated by old technology: video games, computers... all that kind of stuff. This passion has led me to spend my savings on this, which provides me with plenty of material to keep me fascinated, and a lot of fun (especially with computers when I have to fix them, but that's another story).

One thing I should clarify is that I'm still young, and because of that, I'm sometimes embarrassed to show my collection to other people, for fear of being judged or something like that, I don't know. But putting that aside, I like to share my collection and see other people's; that way I can keep researching and discovering more.

What do you think???

Old hard drive

Hey!

A while ago, I found a computer in the studio of some of my parents' colleagues. It turned out to be my parents' computer, a Wearnes Boldline MP series (about which I found almost no information online).

But getting to the point, I don't know if the hard drive is working properly, because when I turn on the computer, it doesn't seem to be able to boot. And when I connect it to another, more modern computer with an adapter, it's not detected, even though the hard drive itself starts up. One thing I should mention is that it emits some beeps when I turn it on.

Does anyone know what these beeps might mean, and is there any way to tell for sure if it's working correctly?

Driver issues

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1520 and decided to install Windows 7.

The system works fine, but I'm having a problem with the graphics card drivers. Without them installed, I couldn't use hardware acceleration, so, using HWinfo, I found the card model (Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT)and downloaded the drivers from the Nvidia website. However, the problem is that with the drivers I found on the Nvidia website, when I try to use hardware acceleration, the computer freezes completely, and I don't know why. I also saw that Dell has some drivers uploaded to their own website, but they say they're for Windows Vista, and I don't know if they would work correctly. Could someone tell me why it freezes, and if the driver from the Dell website would work properly with Windows 7?

Cool find???

Today I received a package from Wallapop: a Dell AXIM PDA for only €16 (including shipping).

It came with the charging cable, the dock for connecting it to the PC, a car mount, a GPS modem, an antenna for the modem, and a case.

And to my surprise, the original battery works!!!

(I also got to install SimCity 2000 on it, I'll try to install more later on)

Overall, everything was in a pretty good state, and I'm really happy with it, since I get more software/hardware to explore 😁

Do you think it was cool find?

Also, any cool ideas on what I can do with it?

Could someone tell me the model?

Today I was at my parents' friends' studio, looking through all the computers and other equipment, and I came across this one. It says on the front that it's a Wearnes brand, which I've never heard of 😅. It has two floppy drives, one 5.25" and one 3.5". Could someone tell me the model and some specifications? Because an image search didn't give me any matching results. If anyone's interested, my dad said we'll take it home another day to try it out, since according to his friends, the computer was originally his. I'll give you an update when I do.

Bonus: While I was there, I picked up some Windows 98 and 2000 CDs, and I also found some "Windows 2000 Professional, Server, and Advanced Server" floppy disks. They came in an official envelope, and there are five disks inside.
