New addition - the cheesy fried slice

Made a fry up for tea. Sadly I was out of tomatoes but I thought I'd try a new idea. Cheesy fried slice.

I also added green stuff cos I'm healthy like that.

Edit: the cheese was mozzarella

What to get next?

So on my audible I've accidentally have ended up with the first book in the heir to the empire trilogy.

The first book in The High Republic series.

And everyone constantly talks about the Darth Bane books?

I've enjoyed them about the same amount. Which do you think I should get next? Or do you think there's another book I should get instead? What's everyone's opinion?

Crossovers that never existed.

Are there any shows or types of shows that never had crossovers but would have been fun?

I've been thinking recently about Police Procedurals. The concept for most of them are ones a cop, ones a writer/gardener/carpet fitter/chip shop owner (delete as appropriate) but end up teaming up and your non cop is amazingly good at solving mysteries.

But I've been thinking how fun some of those shows could be as a cross over. Castle from Castle and Jane from the mentalist would have mad shinanogans running off and causing chaos while Beckett and Lisbon just got increasingly annoyed. And honestly I think it would be fun to watch.

Is there anything I'm missing?

It's my 10th anniversary coming up so I'm planning to cook a special meal.

I'm planning a 7 course meal. I've arranged the menu and drinks etc. I've also come up with a cute idea to make a menu with a wedding picture of us on the front.

I've thought of arranging the food, place setting etc.

But is there anything I've missed or you would like to see if it was you?

I'm planning this well in advance so I've got plenty of time to make arrangements if necessary.

Xander should have been in the Initiative

So I basically like season 4, I think there's a lot of good ideas in there (although not personally how I'd have done it - and I can and will bore anyone about this at length if asked/

But the more I think about it, the more it bothers me Xander wasn't in the initiative.

1 - from an audience point of view Xander is fairly aimless and doesn't seem to matter much until the end of the season. Putting him in the initiative gives his character a clearer direction for the audience to follow. It would also change our perspective on the Initiative making Walsh's twist more sudden and surprising.

2 - from a real world perspective and character perspective Xander makes a great choice for recruitment into the military. The US military do recruit out of highschool. He's a vaguely directionless teen who (at the end of season 3) just wants to leave a crappy home and see the world but has no money to do it. He also tries to be moral, is willing to fight and risk his life for others and the greater good. Plus he has seen no fewer than twice by this point how army training, tactics etc can and does help fight the forces of darkness.

3 - from the initiatives perspective. Xander is a Sunnydale local who knows the area they want to set up their new base. Appears in way too many incidents and police reports to be incidental. Along with all the reasons the army might want to recruit him in general. He seems perfect for the initiative to approach and try to recruit.

4 - small point but in the Yoko Factor when spike splits everyone up, Xanders division always seems the weakest, it's like spike says it because the plot requires it. But questioning split loyalties works much better. Especially if he's in a leadership role like Riley in the initiative rather than being Buffy's support.

Tea is soothing, I wish to be tense.

This line from Giles literally lives rent free in my head and deserves more love.

Genuinely, I think about it every time I go to brew up and I usually pick my drink based on if I want to be soothed or tense.

Just felt a need to share this underrated gem.

The con is on

A while back now I started the ultimate dad moment.

Every time I see those big bails of hay in fields (you know the ones all wrapped in black). I point them out to the kids as Cow Eggs and when we see the baby cows I do say "oo look the cow eggs must have hatched"

I'm ready with the arguments of Where else do cows come from, you never see the eggs and the same time as the cows.

I want to see how old they get before they realise I'm taking the piss.
