Help me name my tabby kittens! They are a pair of bonded female littermates.

They came with the names Lolita and Lokita (lol) from the shelter, and while Lokita really is the god of mischief personified, I’m looking for different names. Open to suggestions!

They are sisters, both full of meows and energy. Here they are right before I let them outside into the backyard.

What’s this plant? Southern MO, USA

Hi there, does anyone know what this plant might be? Cut open one of the tubes, and it was white inside with the consistency of crunchy jicama. Hardly any smell, slight starch scent once cut into.

* Note that I do NOT plan on eating this, but want to know what it is! I have curious pets that might take a bite of it.

Came up in my backyard on its own, I didn’t do much trimming or maintenance this summer.

Trying to stay positive, becoming increasingly hard

EDIT: I am NOT interested in Jesus. Been there, done that! I am a practicing witch now, Hecate is much more my speed. I deconstructed from Christianity long ago. Overall am happy with my life, just noticed this pattern over the past couple of years. No more DMs about Jesus, thank you.

For context, I’ve lived a full life and am in my 40s. Am not naive or just starting my journey out into the world. Anyway… what is up with these past few years!? I’m in the USA for context, and I’ve never felt like the general collective has been so low and jaded as it has in these past couple of years.

Used to do things like bake cupcakes, surprise people with thoughtful little gifts, do trivia nights, host gatherings. I’ve pulled back majorly over the past few years on… well, everything.

And I know it’s not just me. So many of us feel like we’re just surviving rn and waiting for better. I’m more tired than ever before and so are other people, or so it seems, and I don’t have nearly as much money to go around. Or maybe my depression is back? Idk.

Feeling defeated lately and hope things turn around for all of us. My favorite teacher used to say, “Oh my precious angels, it’s gonna be okay.” And that’s what I repeat to myself these days. So I hope it gets better for all of us precious angels soon. It’s gonna be okay 🙏

Let’s hear it—whatcha got?

Mine is my CHI hair straightener, I’ve had it since 2012 and will probably have it until I pass it down to my grandkids.

My other thing less used (but still working!) is my red & black Fireball yoyo that I’ve had since I was ten. I still love it so!

I accidentally left the attic door open at night & what I saw still haunts me

I need to get this off of my chest, even if no one believes me. It has to be recorded somewhere, and I want people to know that this happened.

This happened to me somewhere around 2007 and I have not stopped thinking about it since.

At the time I lived in a suburban house with my family on the outskirts of Houston, in a room with an attic connection. I was a teenager, and liked to smoke weed in the small attic space, which was connected to my room by a small door. But weird things would happen sometimes, like coins being tossed down from the bedroom, or strange moaning sounds when I wasn’t home that my parents would tell me about. Or rotten smells would come from the room and scratching noises that couldn’t be explained.

The night before I was getting ready to leave for college, I had been up late packing up the room & things were in disarray. I had passed out on my bed and had even left the attic door ajar, which was something I usually never did because the attic space creeped me out. But I was packing in a frenzy, so maybe that’s how it happened. I woke up from a dream where I was being watched by something from the attic door. And that’s when I woke up and saw it… a pair of eyes staring at me from behind the small attic door. This person looked disheveled and like a gollum creature but with stringy long hair, and just stared at me, frightened. We sat there for about a minute and I eventually bolted out of my bedroom, screaming to my dad that someone was in my room.

My dad searched and never found anything and even thought I was playing a prank, but I swear it was a person and I can still see them in my mind’s eye. I told my parents to board up the attic door, and my mom got freaked out and stacked a bunch of boxes in front of it. Then they sold the house not long after I moved out.

I was relieved when they sold it.

To this day, I don’t know if there was an actual person living in my attic, an entity, or an anxiety dream/hallucination, but I hope to never see it again.

Data centers in the Ozarks

What the title says. I don’t want to go too down the rabbit hole, but I’m worried about data centers being built around the Ozarks. I know Springfield already has a large data center, but I’m worried about more being installed, destroying our natural wonders. How does the average person get involved to help stop this?
