Been on a long ride, what have I missed?

I’ve been away from mountain biking for 18 years, focussing more on road and commuting than trails.

What have I missed?

All the magazines have gone, the websites where I got parts have gone (chain reaction cycles!), wheels are now different sizes?

I’ve just bought a nice, well specced orange subzero to get back at it, what’s the uk scene like now?

Did anyone have a nice time?

Just seeing a constant stream of negativity on here and across social media. Was it awful? Did anyone enjoy themselves? I’ve not been for a few years but seeing everyone coming home today made me want to go!

A thanks from the bands

I’m currently a bit drunk, in a field at a festival
In the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from home.

I just played to a thousand people that chose to come see my band, that knew the words to my songs, those shitty songs I wrote in my bedroom and we work on as a band every week at practice in a rainy post industrial shithole. All those hours, the studio time, the blisters on my fingers, the cost (oh god the cost!) it’s all worth it.

So when you go to a show and have a great time, just take a second to remember that the band genuinely appreciate everyone of you. Drunk guy at the front, girl with a camera, person in a tshirt of a band I like who’s getting into it, chatty people who stopped talking and listened to our songs, on behalf of every band world wide, we appreciate you.

Thank you. I love this scene.

Rare 1983 footage of the UK82 scene: interviews, squats, and live performances

I came across this short compilation/documentary built around some great archival footage from 1983, including parts of the Islington squat documentary, TV interviews, and live performances from bands like The Exploited, Chaos UK, Disorder, The Varukers, and G.B.H.

I thought people here might appreciate the old interviews and the way TV portrayed punks back then. Curious what those who were around the scene think about it.
