Do these two styles look fundamentally different?
They’re both my handwriting, one is what I call my “freestyle”, when I need to jot down things very quickly, and the other I use when I’m studying or thinking hard about what I’m writing. I have a third way which is somewhat between the two, a bit flat, still upright and some say is not readable.
Those good old days when Homelander was sane enough not to be a white supremacist
We always knew that Homelander would go insane - there were plenty of indicators, plus this is consistent with the original comic book character. But at least in season 2, he was sane enough to side eye Stormfront as she went on about “white genocide”. This was before writers decided to model him after a certain POTUS…
I think our expectations of HL’s arc increased only because Tony Starr portrayed him so well. Starr managed to convey the complexities of someone growing increasingly unhinged, far better than the two dimensional character we were given in season 5.
Has anyone successfully applied for a copy of their child’s birth report?
My kid was born overseas and soon after birth, we obtained a passport for him from the embassy by submitting a report of birth.
We’ve moved around since then and relocated to another country, where his passport was renewed uneventfully.
This year it was time to renew his passport and they had a new requirement, which is his birth certificate or report of birth. I’d kept my own copy of his report of birth filed away somewhere back in the Philippines so I didn’t bring it. I thought they meant his original birth certificate so that’s what I brought.
I was told to get a birth certificate from PSA.
The PSA online service won’t accept orders for names with a different convention. My kid didn’t technically take my last name as his middle. (He took a translated version of it.)
I spoke to an immigration lawyer and he says kids born overseas won’t have a PSA birth certificate. Their birth certificate would be the one from whichever country they were born in. What they’d have is the report of birth.
I emailed the embassy where I’d originally submitted his RoB and they told me that I’d have to apply for a change to my son’s name to get a PSA birth certificate.
I don’t want to do that as I’d prefer my son not to have two different names as this will cause confusion in the future.
It seems simpler to request a copy of the report of birth.
Has anyone successfully obtained one?
Meghan Markle's mountain hike video goes viral after Princess Kate hits major milestone

A video of Meghan Markle crawling down a hill was highlighted after it was reported that Catherine, Princess of Wales had finished the Three Peaks Challenge.
The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the tallest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales - Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon, respectively- within 24 hours. Catherine did the challenge to support the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she’d undergone cancer treatment.
Observers couldn’t help but compare this considerable accomplishment with a video of Meghan gingerly making her way down a slope, guided by Harry. The clip was taken from their Netflix series.
While many ridiculed the Duchess of Sussex, others defended her by saying one shouldn’t compare the two.
These comparisons happen so often because the fandoms are so fervent. Meghan’s followers are always criticising Catherine. It’s been reported that pro-Meghan influencers have been told to post negative news about Catherine. Some pro-Wales supporters feel they should return the favour.
Still, this won’t help the trope that Meghan is constantly being criticised for no reason.
Japan to implement new plan to recruit distant male royal relatives, but citizens want a female emperor

Japanese lawmakers are proposing a plan to recruit distant male royal relatives who have been living as commoners ever since the imperial family was slimmed down after World War 2.
The Japanese monarchy recognises only a male line of succession. The current emperor, 66-year old Naruhito, has just one daughter, Princess Aiko. There are only three next in line: Naruhito’s uncle, 90 year old Prince Hitachi; his brother, 60 year old Fumihito, Crown Prince Akishino; and Akishino’s son, 19-year old Prince Hisahito.
However, this hasn’t always been the case, as Japan has had 8 female emperors in the past. While their rule was mostly temporary until a male could sit on the throne, it shows that women weren’t historically excluded from power (https://www.nippon.com/en/japan-data/h00753/).
This ceased altogether in 1947, when the Imperial House Law was enacted to ensure only men would be in the line of succession (https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/04/15/japan/politics/why-princess-aiko-emperor/).
Current surveys show that the majority of Japan prefer that Naruhito’s daughter, 24 year old Princess Aiko, should ascend to the throne(https://amp.scmp.com/week-asia/lifestyle-culture/article/3337076/more-japanese-favour-having-empress-princess-aikos-public-appeal-rises ). As it stands, should she marry a commoner, she would be banished from royal life, just like her cousin Mako.
The eldest daughter of the Crown Prince, former princess Mako, married and settled in New York, where she gave birth to a child in May 2025 (https://www.hola.com/us/royals/20260219884773/mako-of-japan-kei-komuro-dubbed-asian-harry-and-meghan/).
In February, Japan’s first female Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi doubled down on parliament’s stand to preserve the male line of succession, saying it would be “disrespectful” to Japan’s traditions to do otherwise (https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/02/28/japan/politics/takaichi-males-imperial-succession/).
The public is keen on changes to the Imperial Family, not just in changing the line of succession but also in recognising marriages to commoners. It seems to make more sense to preserve the royal line, whether they wed non-royals or not, than to “adopt” distant cousins who have lived as normal citizens.
Catherine and her children maintain their composure amidst protesters at Trooping the Colour
Newspapers have been banging on how Catherine “glared” at anti-monarchy protesters on Saturday’s Trooping the Colour.
IMO she looked worried as some of these protesters could harm her children. One gets a sense of the steel beneath the softness.
To their credit, George, Charlotte and Louis maintained their composure despite the boos. I think Charlotte looks like she’s ready to challenge an anti monarchist or two!
This Boys nutshell is still spot on the characterizations

This clip is two years old but the characters are essentially the same.
Butcher wanting to destroy HL by any means possible, MM opposing Butcher’s ways, Hughie neurotically hanging on Annie’s approval, Annie having little to do with outcomes even being the leader of a resistance, Frenchie being guilt ridden.
Only difference is Kimiko speaking now and having a pivotal role in the end.
It’s been two years but I can’t believe this
‘Raise Him Up’ as a pastiche of ‘Superstar’ is genius
The enthusiastic chorus, scantily clad angels, catchy tune, and the irreverent theme. “Raise Him Up” immediately reminded me of “Superstar” from the 1973 movie version of “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
Daveed Diggs as Oh Father brings a terrific performance, just as Carl Anderson did for Judas. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that both numbers are sung by people who betrayed Jesus in the end.
Landlord didn’t fix things during tenancy but now looking to charge for all repairs after we moved out
Just wanted some advice as I’m not sure how to proceed.
We rented a house for the first time many years ago. I was very keen to move asap as my family (myself, partner and small kid) needed a place to stay close to work and school and it was the only property available.
I signed a tenancy agreement with a rental of 750. I was not given a copy of this, but I took a photo for my own records. It was a one page agreement with no stipulations on it.
When we moved there was a lot of furniture there which I didn’t mind as we didn’t have any ourselves. There were items in the loft from the previous owner and other bits like toys and plant pots in the garden. We delayed our move a little bit as landlord had to repaint the house.
On moving the bathtub had no side panel. It was never replaced during our stay (5 years) though landlord kept promising to do so. The paint was chipped etc.
Landlord also asked me to deposit only 2/3 rent every first of month, rest was cash. Whenever I paid full amount he’d tell me not to as his accountant will see it, I assumed tax purposes.
Over the years I tried to be a good tenant. There were lots of things I needed to pay for myself. Bathroom leaked into the ceiling below, I paid plumber to check it out and plumber also replaced many of the toilets as these were quite old.
Landlord wasn’t quick at fixing things. When the gas fireplace broke he said I could fix myself, eventually the hobs broke except one. One time the boiler broke and the house was cold for about three months. I’m not surprised as we didn’t have annual boiler repairs from the engineer. At one point it started leaking causing water damage to the walls, a big water bill ensued, eventually landlord did get round to it.
Landlord gave us a fridge, tv, and other appliances none of which worked. I used the fridge to store things, put the rest in the shed. I did inform him these things didn’t work.
In the last two years I developed long covid and was unable to maintain the house. I was the main breadwinner. Partner himself (stay at home parent) was unable to maintain upkeep. When landlord realised this he finally came up with a tenancy agreement stipulating the responsibilities, he raised the rent, but the tenancy agreement stated the 2/3 price and not the actual. I signed it and decided to move out. I did offer to buy the house having become fond of it, and thinking any repairs at least I’d do myself. They said they’d think about it but in the meantime I decided to just purchase another house.
On moving out, partner did everything (due to my fatigue I couldn’t help out much). We hired a cleaner to give the house a good scrub and partner even recleaned the carpet himself.
I fully didn’t expect to get my deposit back as I knew walls needed repainting (my child had stuck stickers on), and the carpet was quite rugged. It was already more than ten years old when we moved there. I told the landlord to get the last 1/3 unofficial monthly rent from the deposit but he kept asking for it.
Landlord messaged that house was still dirty despite the professional cleaning we’d paid for and he had professional cleaners do the whole thing again. Complained of all the items left behind (which were from the previous tenant), said fridge was working when he gave it to us, complained of the walls, etc. He’s now toting up the bill.
Husband said we should go to arbitration about the bill landlord is expecting us to pay as we’ve done our bits before moving out. I expect the new wall paint to be on us plus fresh blinds for all the windows but little else.
Is there any agency I can reach out to regarding this? I read online one can go to tribunal, but it entails solicitors fees which can potentially be more expensive than whatever landlord comes up with. I’m wondering whether to fight this on principle.
Speculation over Harry’s visit to the UK in July: would he be invited to Balmoral?
It’s strange to me how journalists keep hoping that the king will invite Harry to Balmoral this summer.
Royal watchers are speculating that this could be on the cards. Ingrid Seward thought that it would be a good idea. And somebody (can’t recall who) said Balmoral would be the perfect place for the king to meet Lili and Archie.
I don’t think the royals would risk inviting Harry to their summer retreat. He and Meghan have shared intimate details of the family and taken photos within the privacy of their homes (some of which was shown in their documentary).
Not to mention the late Queen had invited them to Balmoral before, only to be ignored.
Interestingly, an article from the unreliable gossip mag Closer has an outsider claiming Harry doesn’t expect to meet his father, given there were no greetings from Buckingham Palace on his and Meghan’s eighth wedding anniversary. This sounds more like the truth.
Do you think that the UK’s low birth rate is due to uncertainty, polycrisis, and the influx of bad news 24/7?
I just read this interesting article from the NYTimes regarding falling birth rates in developed countries:
Reasons included the following:
- A sense of uncertainty about the future amongst couples of childbearing age
- Affordability, affected by employment prospects and housing
- “Polycrisis” and full knowledge of it through digital information
- Changing social values, including the decline of marriage and of faith and religion
The low birth rate is one of the factors for importing workers from other countries to occupy jobs, especially in the healthcare sector involving care of the elderly, so it should be a topic of discussion for this facing concerns about immigration.

Why Meghan isn’t really the breadwinner (screenshots)
Just found this interesting post with gossip that Meghan is seriously considering if it’s a good idea to jettison Harry.
I don’t believe the gossip, and I don’t think she’s that unwise to make such a decision. Anyone can see that she needs Harry in order to sell her products.
However, I do see her selling the idea that she IS the breadwinner, so that Harry would feel dependent on her, and would feel obliged to stay on. This seems to be a mind game more than a real plan.
Ex butler called out for sharing “fake” photo of Wiliam and Catherine
Archived: to follow
Ex butler Grant Harrold is called out by Richard Eden for sharing a “fake, potentially AI” image of William and Catherine on social media.
This proves all the more that in this Information Age, caution must be exercised. A deepfake is not hard to generate.
