Intrarosa

Hello, I’m 44 I was prescribed Intrarosa today to be taken vaginally (only available vaginally in Canada) on top of the estrogen patch and progesterone I already take. I had asked to get some testosterone for my zero libido and low motivation but because my blood platelets are a little higher than normal, she didn’t not want to prescribe me testosterone until we know what is causing the high blood platelets since adding testosterone can increase blood clots risks. That’s what she told me, don’t know if it’s true or not. Anyway I just wanted to know what has Intrarosa done for you that’s been great! I was told it won’t do much for my libido but will help with my energy🤷‍♀️ thanks!

How long has it been?

How long has it been since you last remember feeling « normal »? For me, it will be two years the end of the month. It makes me sad to think I don’t even remember how it feels to feel « normal ». I’m an anxious person by nature and have been on Effexor for 20 years but two years ago, it stopped working. Anxiety came back one morning, I saw my family doctor. Gave me seroquel which helped so i thought it was just a one time thing. Then a couple of weeks later, again I woke up with anxiety so my doctor increased my seroquel. I was good, feeling back like myself for a month and then again, however it kept getting worse. I stopped the seroquel because it was giving me stomach issues as well and contacted my psychiatrist. She raised my Effexor to 375mg at the time and I felt good again for two weeks and then bam. I went on leave for 6 months, tried adding different meds. Each time I thought « oh maybe it’s working », then I’d get a slap in the face and start all over again. This was in 2025. After that two week of being on 375mg, I went back down to 300mg while adding other meds. Then I was fed up and told my psychiatrist I didn’t want to add anything else on for now so I suffered. Some days were better, others were hell. I then figured maybe it’s perimenopause and went to a private clinic. Started HRT in January 2026 with estrogen and progesterone but nothing. In the meantime I told my psychiatrist I wanted to get off Effexor since it wasn’t working anymore so we did by adding Duloxetine to counteract the side effects. I went from 300mg to 225mg and then to 150mg. No side effects at all. In the meantime, my anxious brain was still active. I could function but didn’t feel like myself. July I saw my nurse practitioner again for Hormone therapy and she increased my estrogen and told me to increase my progesterone during my lutheal phase. That gave me more anxiety so went back to original dose. All this two say it’s almost two years of hell and I just don’t know what else to do to get me back to how I used to feel. Oh I forgot to mention I also saw different psychologists, I started a new one three weeks ago. So yeah, I’m fed up, discouraged and just have no clue what else to do. Thank you for listening me vent.

Tapering

I’ve been on Effexor 300mg for 12 years and earlier this year I told my psychiatrist I wanted to taper off of it because I feel it doesn’t work as well anymore. To minimize the withdrawal side effects, she added Cymbalta to it. After a couple of months, I was down to 150mg with no withdrawal side effects. I guess the cymbalta balanced it out. I stayed on 150mg for a few months to be more stabilized. Last week, I asked my psychiatrist to proceed in tapering off and she prescribed me 112.5 mg. Last night was my second night taking this dose but I did not sleep well and this morning I feel jittery all over my body. Just wanted to hear from your experiences. I’m at the max of cymbalta at the same time I had gone down to 150mg but that’s the max dose of cymbalta so maybe that’s why I feel it more this time around. I work and cannot afford to miss work because of this. Should I tough it out for a couple more days or should I go back to 150mg? Just wanted to have some experiences. Thanks !

Prometrium

My NP told me to increase my Prometrium to 200mg on the 14th day of my cycle up until I start my period and then go back to 100 mg. Is it normal to wake up with anxiety the next morning? I have to work and having anxiety while having to concentrate is hard. The whole point of me taking HRT is to improve my anxiety symptoms. I also take the estrogen patch

Weather obsession

I often look at the weather app to know what type of weather we will have and when I see rainy days, it brings me down. I connect rainy days with low mood and depression. How can I stop this connection?

What is wrong with me?

I haven’t been myself for almost two years. In Jan 2026, I started HRT, estrogen patches and Prometrium 100mg. Didn’t do much so at my follow up appointment beginning of July, she increased the dosage of the patches and as for Prometrium, she told me to take two pills as of the 14th day of my cycle until the first day of my period. I don’t feel better and I have all these recurring thoughts and I feel depressed, don’t feel like doing anything but just to stay in bed. Even washing dishes or doing laundry feels like a heavy task. I keep crying. I’ve been seeing a therapist as well since a few months. I feel so depressed and alone. I’m thinking I might need to leave my husband, who is great by the way, but then I get full panicked mode of thinking of being alone, living alone with my 12 year old son, of breaking his family, I just don’t know what to do and it’s taking a toll on me and my health and my head. I don’t even know if I like my job still but then I think of changing job and I still feel blah about it. I compare myself to others all the time because I guess I am lacking what they have and I want it too and it makes me feel more depressed. I’m also on antidepressants since 15 years and because they stopped working, I’ve asked my psychiatrist to start decreasing. To help with the side effects, she added another antidepressant so I’ve been able to lower my Effexor no problem. Right now I’m on 150mg Effexor with 60 mg cymbalta. I’ve asked her to stay on these doses for a couple of months to see if the hormones help. Anyway I guess I’m not asking for anything really but just venting and wonder if anyone is or has been in the same boat.

Depression

I have been struggling for almost 2 years…I can’t believe it’s almost 2 years. Anxiety, depressed moods, lack of motivation, not knowing what I want in life, not knowing if I hate my job, feeling like a failure in everything. I’m an introvert and don’t like socializing that much. I however compare myself to everyone that is the total opposite of me and brings me down even more. Everything makes me anxious. I’ve always been an anxious person but it was controlled with antidepressants until two years ago when a situation with my son brought the anxiety back and it’s never left. Started HRT over 3 months ago and now they increased my estrogen patch from 25 to 50. I just feel like I’m lost and therapy hasn’t helped either. I just feel so alone and wish I were a different person

Ear infection

My right ear started to hurt on Monday but nothing too extreme and with Tylenol it seemed to help. I decided to get polysporin ear drops and the second time I put some, my ear completely blocked and the pain has been horrible. Went to the dr she gave antibiotic drops with cortisone which I started right away. Still had pain, felt like my head was going to explode and I noticed swelling near my jaw so I contacted her again and she prescribed me oral antibiotics as well. Now today my other ear is blocked and painful. When she checked on Tuesday it was all good. What the heck I’m going back to see her now but is this normal? How long for the pain to subside? I’m crying right now

Having a panic attack

I’m in bed and been starting to feel like muscular pain in my left shoulder blade, near my spine but my mind immediately is thinking it maybe be a heart attack and I’m freaking out, having a panic attack. I know it’s most likely muscular but my brain immediately is thinking the worst. Any reassuring advice? 😢

My 12 year has a stomach bug

My 12 year started throwing up since 9:30pm last night up until now at 3:20am. No diarrhea. I make him take a sip of water after each time but obviously it’s not enough to hydrate but drinking too much water causes him to throw up. Hiw do I make sure he doesn’t get dehydrated? And much vomiting does it take to become too dehydrated? Thanks

My NP added estradot to the progesterone I already take because just the progesterone is not working as I feel more anxious in the mornings. Has anyone done this, added estradot to relieve anxiety and low mood symptoms and it actually helped?
