Flight diverted to Hanover due to storm/airport closure. Anyone had a similar experience? What got reimbursed and how long did it take?

Our flight from Vienna to Berlin got diverted mid-air and landed in Hannover due to a storm and a closure of Berlin airport. We were circling for a while and made 3 aborted landing attempts before being diverted, supposed to arrive in Berlin at 14:10 (flight was at 13:10), ended up landing in Hanover around 15:00 instead.
No alternative was offered on the plane, just told we’d have to stay in Hannover. On the ground, nobody seemed to know what was going on, no AUA counter in Hanover and the Lufthansa ticket desk couldn’t help either, just said “more info will follow” (never really came). We had to sort our own way to Berlin, fastest option was the train, but at a steep price.
Questions for anyone who’s been through something similar:
1. Compensation: Despite “extraordinary circumstances” (weather), did you get any compensation (€250/400/600), or was that flatly refused?
2. Reimbursement for train tickets: Did the airline cover the cost of alternative transport (train/taxi) to your final destination? Fully or partially?
3. Meals/hotel: Did they reimburse that?
4. How long did processing take?
5. Has anyone had experience with whether it’s better to go directly through the airline or use one of those passenger-rights portals (AirHelp, Flightright, etc.)? Worth the cut they take?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Does anyone know any sewing creators who are into gothic, rave, or alternative fashion?

I’m looking for nice people to follow who actually design and sew their own clothes!!
I’d love recommendations for instagram, etsy or even youtube.
I’m especially interested in fitted mesh pieces, cut-outs, corset-inspired designs, asymmetrical silhouettes and dark/industrial aesthetics!
Who are your favorites?

How do you get a clean and durable hem on mesh fabric?

I’m a hobby sewist and I’ve been wanting to make some sheer clothing pieces with mesh, but this fabric is still my biggest struggle. Every time I try to finish the edges, the result looks messy and not very durable, so I usually end up giving up.
I’m especially looking for advice on how to create a clean, folded-looking hem on mesh. How do you usually finish your mesh edges?
I was thinking about trying a rolled hem foot or sewing with tissue paper underneath and removing it afterwards, but I’m not sure if that’s the best approach.
Are there any techniques, presser feet, stitches, or tricks you swear by for getting professional-looking mesh hems?

Looking for csd after party locations with at least one pop/2000s floor! Do you have any recs?

Hi everyone! My friend (M23, gay) and I (F24, queer) are visiting Berlin for Pride again this year and are looking for some fun party ideas after the demo.
We’re fully expecting everywhere to be absolutely packed, but we’d still love to celebrate the day somewhere with a good atmosphere. We’d especially love places where it’s possible to buy tickets in advance, so we have a guaranteed entry instead of queueing for hours.
Our ideal party would have: Diverse dance floors/music styles and at least one floor playing pop, throwbacks, or 2000s/2010s hits (guilty pleasure 😄🙏🏻)

How would you sew that skirt?

Saw it on Pinterest yesterday and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Have you seen a similar pattern? Would it be possible to recreate it at home?

Question for the european facepainters!

Which shop in Europe has the quickest delivery in your opinion? I’m located in Austria and some of the websites don’t share estimated delivery times. I have an event next Saturday (25.06) and would love to restock some of my faves till then! ✨🫶🏻

Exit vs. Unlock! vs. Hidden games?

Hi! I’m currently looking for a fun game that simulates an escape room at home or lets you solve riddles and mysteries with my younger brother (he’s 13).

He’s genuinely interested in forensic medicine, reads a lot of crime novels and is definitely very intelligent and mature for his age when it comes to medical and scientific topics. He loves solving mysteries and enjoys escape rooms with all the puzzles and challenges, so I’d like to surprise him with something like that at home.

I’m almost 15 years older than him and have never played any of these types of games myself. I came across the three games mentioned in the title and was wondering which one you would recommend. We’d be playing as two players.

Any idea how I could recreate these pants?

I would first sew a very simple pair of loose barrel/balloon pants using chiffon, including the elastic waistband and gathered ankles. After the base pants are finished, I’d put them on and mark exactly where I want the lace panels to sit around the knees. Then I’d cut those sections out, keeping seam allowance and use the removed fabric pieces as a pattern for the lace inserts.

Next, I’d make the small ruffle strips and sew them onto the lace pieces first. After that, I’d sew the finished lace panels back into the openings of the pants, attaching them between the upper and lower parts.

Is that a good way to do it? Is there a better way? I simply can’t find a pattern for it, but immediately fell in love with them online.

Used brother 2104d serger, 6y old

We‘ve negotiated the deal and the price is 140€ (around 165$). I’m located in central Europe!
I was looking for a brother serger for a long time, especially this model (also the 1034dx and m343)!
It’s 6 years old, almost never used, has no flaws and had 1 inspection some time ago. Is it worth the price? Should I buy it? What should I be aware of?
