Fairytale retellings?

I'm looking for some weird, frankly freakish fairtyale retelling books, if there is any. Folk/myths as well, but mainly fairytales from any place and any time.

Manga like Beserk, Claymore and Attack On Titan?

I just finished reading these manga back to back and I really liked them, though it’s a shame Beserk isn’t finished, though I’m not a huge fan or where it’s at now so I would also like manga tbat has good endings or feels like that first half of Beserk. I would also like manga that has a significant amount of female characters with little to no fan service like Claymore and Attack On Titan. I really like the dark fantasy element in Beserk and Claymore but I added attack on titan just because I also like that vibe and want to see if there’s other manga like that even if it isn’t dark fantasy.

Are there any fans of claymore that are women here?

I’m just curious how many women like me are fans of claymore on this subreddit. I feel like there would be quite a bit but I don’t know. And if you are, is there any queer women that enjoy the show? I’m personally a lesbian but I wonder how many are straight and how many are not.

Tips on writing an authentic 90s au?

I have a fic that is set in the 90s and I was wondering if anyone has some tips on how to write that time period accurately. Like what were some of the core aspects of that time period, general attitudes, ect. Specifically childhood/teenager things in the 90s, like what games were really in. How was the bullying? I kind of have an idea of the general ways I can make it more accurately '90's but I was wondering if there are some details I could add that could make it really stand out like the fic was made in the 90s.

Edit: I should probably clarify that the characters are in England at the time, specifically winchester. Its for the death note fandom haha.

Looking to find this one Attack On Titan (Eruri) Cannibalism fic

So there was this fanfic I absolutely adored a couple of years ago with pretty much that premise: Levi was a cannibal due to Ackermans having something in their dna that makes them become one, and Erwin enabled him. Anyway the fic was unfinished, and I left the fandom for a good long while. Anyway I go to check my bookmarks and its not there, even though I swore I bookmarked it. There was no deleted fic in my bookmarks either even though that might be a possibility. I searched the eruri tag using the tags I thought would lead me to it, but after a while, no luck. I remember the fic had beautiful prose, and Kenny was a pretty central character in the beginning, but my memory is not good. If anyone can find it, let me know please, it was so unique.

17 years ago, Nana went on hiatus. What are you hoping will happen in the future?

Since this is the 17-year anniversary of the last chapter, what is some things your looking forward too for the story? More merch? We all want a new chapter, but what do you want specifically to happen? A further anime adaptation? An interview from Ai yazawa? Let me know!!

Bonus: tell us how long you've been in the fandom if you want too as well.

I hate when the majority of the fandom sees my top character as a bottom, but they're lowkey right.

Ok this isn't really a vent because its not that serious and actually funny. So most of the fandom for a ship I mainly write for sees the character I usually write as a top as a bottom. I actually get their reasoning behind it because it does make sense, but no matter how much I try I can never get into that specific dynamic. Even though logically it makes sense, and there's a lot of amazing fan works surrounding it, I still can never get into it or write for it despite peoples requests. Anytime I talk about my preferred top, people are always asking me why. Truth is, I think the reason I see this character as a top is because I want to see the other character bottom lol. People are always arguing with me about it, going great lengths to try and make me write for the other dynamic by analyzing the characters and trying to prove that this character bottoms, but I just like it because its hot lol.

I get the reasoning, but its not going to change my mind. I do find it a little funny that people get so aggressive when I suggest that this character tops because he is a bad person, and apparently from what I heard from them, you have to make them a bottom for them to "suffer" or else your condoning their actions. Like uh....ok. Not sure what you mean by that. Others make more sense or are more chill, but I do have to admit, I kind of find it isolating writing for this type of dynamic because there seems like very little people actually enjoy it, even though I know people do by the kudos I receive. And my nsfw fics usually receive more then my sfw so that is saying something. Still not sure why fandom spaces outside of ao3 are so hostile towards it, and cant get that I can see their perspective, they don't need to keep explaining it to me, I'm still going to write my fics the way I do, maybe some switching because I plan for that in my future wips. I do find it funny that people take it so seriously when it comes to trying to change my mind, because no amount of effort is going to change it.

Looking for Mangas like Vinland Saga

I finished the manga and the two seasons of the anime, and I loved the series. I even started a collection for it. I’m now looking for a new manga to read that is similar since I’m still chasing the high Vinland saga left with me. Also if anyone happens to also have manga recommendations that feature or prominently feature well written female characters that would also be a plus.

I've heard a lot of good things about Claymore, and I heard that there is a anime adaptation that doesn't adapt it fully. I haven't read the manga yet, so if I watch the anime, will I still get the full feel of the story if I watch the show first, and then pick up the manga where it leaves off?

Is there any fandoms that have a big fanbase focusing on the female characters? I know arcane and yuri fandoms have bigger focus on female characters, but I would like to know if there is some more.

Basically I want to get invested in a femslash/yuri ship, or a fandom with predominantly femslash ships as the focus. It doesnt necessarily have to be a small fandom or a rarepair, I just prefer smaller fandoms/ships in general but its not a requirement.

▲ 14 r/shoujo

I've been wanting to read some more shoujo but I feel like I specifically want to read ones where there is some queer subtext, no matter how little of it there is, between the girls/women. Sue me. Kind of like Nana, which I just finished reading. Obviously Nana is not a yuri and they do end up with guys, (don't come after me) but Nana and Hachi have that sort of undertone whether one wants to view it as romantic or platonic. So yeah, I'm not looking for yuri, just shoujo with queer undertones kind of like that.
