Men hate women who read books??

I recently came across a man who told me that women who read, particularly women who read romance novels, are an “ick” to him, especially if they read about topics like love triangles, unrealistic hero male, enemies to lovers, tropes. I asked why? And it really got me thinking about how I think this stems from misogyny! I think it has its roots in female desire being demonized , along with female sexuality being demonized. For centuries, it’s women, who need to be virgins when they get married, whilst men went to brothels etc and didn’t keep the same amount of abstinence, married women who are expected to please ther husbands whenever they want, stoned for having an affair, while nothing happened to Men who have affairs. Even in history, doctors called normal sexual feelings in females “hysteria”. So as we know, female desire has been repressed throughout history, and STILL is being repressed in some countries. And it exists in smaller forms, in western countries like being repulsed by women who read romance. In my opinion, men who are threatened by women who read romance, feel this way because they can not fathom a women experiencing romantic, or sexual desire beyond a world that revolves around men. Romance books for women are heavily made by women, for women. It’s the only expression of female desire that doesn’t revolve around pleasing a man, because they read about what they like. It’s a safe way to explore desire without a relationship or sex without men, and also men feel threatened because I see a lot of them complaining that it gives women “unrealistic standards” when it comes to relationships. Due to the centuries of female romantic and sexual suppression, it’s now unattractive to men when they don’t have complete control over women’s expression of sexuality.

What do you guys think?

Shaming women into relationships they don’t want.

I noticed a new discourse online and on X, about how it’s homophobic if a woman doesn’t want to date a Bi man. And I find the whole discourse so misogynistic, because why do people think they can control what a women’s preference is when it comes to men they’re attracted to ? If a woman learns a man is bi, and doesn’t want to have intimacy with him and is turned off. That’s her right , and she can do that. And it’s nobody right to shame her, calling her a homophobe and all these names because she’s not interested. It really shows the depth of how society controls the female body and what it does, that even though they deny it and are “pro woman” and feminist, it crosses into so called progressive spaces. Women don’t owe their bodies, emotional investment, and time, to anyone. Regardless of the reason, if it’s “homophobic” or not. It makes me think about how entitled all men are, regardless if they’re heterosexual or gay/bi, even though people like to ignore and brush over the misogyny of gay and bi men, and makes me sad all the women hopping on this “homophobic” bandwagon not seeing the misogynistic undertones and entitlement of this whole convo.

Guy lied about restaurant on a date.

(Vegan pizza in the post)

Hi guys! So I was talking to this guy, for a while and he knew about my dietary restrictions and allergies. I have specific medical restrictions and just personal and ethical preferences, I don’t eat dairy or meat. (I’m allergic to dairy, VERY VERY allergic, I get very bad reactions instantly when around it) and I don’t eat meat for ethical reasons. So because of the combo of being allergic to most dairy items and not eating meat, I thought for a guy I was talking to for 9 months, knew my allergies, and what I can and can’t eat, would take me to a restaurant that’s suitable for me. I sent him over 5 different choices of places we could go that would be suitable for me, and would be safe for me to eat at with my allergies. He asked me what place I wanted to go to so I sent him tons of options! And he said he’d pick from one of the selections. So he comes pick me up, we go to our outing and it’s approaching dinner. He announces that we’re going to a different place, without telling me beforehand. because he didn’t like any of my options . So I ask, “well, since I have allergies will it be suitable for me?” He said yes of course. I go to the restaurant, tons of cross contamination with dairy, which I literally can’t eat because I’ll have allergic reactions to, even if it is technically dairy free, because of cross contamination . And then the dishes without dairy, we’re all meat, which I don’t eat either for ethical reasons. The only thing I could get was a salad, which I had to make sure was cooked far away from dairy, and couldn’t even get the dressing because it had dairy in it. I got a lettuce salad with balsamic and olive oil. It was so selfish, I gave him so many options to choose from; and I’m fine with ppl changing their minds. But atleast… choose an option I can go to if you change your mind? It just shows this man doesn’t have a slither of respect for me.

Eating ruined on vacation

Hello everyone! Currently writing this on a family vacation, where everything is so miserable, because of FOOD. I’m getting super annoyed because, whilst I’m out with my mom, she insists every slither of food is “shared” and it’s so damn annoying. You see that tiny slither of cake on the pic? That’s a slice she wanted to share between 3 people.. which annoyed me so much I just bought my own. When I get my own plate, she has her own, and she always asks for some of mine and gets angry when I say no thanks. Shes extremely disordered with eating and can’t eat anything without making a hissy fit. If I dare say I don’t want to share a tiny slither of cake, etc etc she’ll get angry and call me fat. (Which I’m not even fat.. I’m very slim..). For gods sake, I just want to enjoy eating without having to share all my food, which usually is a tiny portion anyways!!

Weird dating icks have:

Hi girls! I’m just going to be sharing some of the icks I have with men when dating, feel free to share your guys icks too in the comments.

My icks:
-Men who use/watch TikTok when they’re over the age of 25

-men who wear jewelry/ get their ears pierced

-hedonist/materialist men who think flexing something like a Porsche will get them a girl

-Stingy men

-Men who talk in lower case letters when typing (it’s some sort of weird social media trend? I don’t even know.)

-men who are overly into conspiracy theories (they tend to end up being racists/bigots)

-men who are over active on dating apps

-men who take selfies/ photos of themselves and post on social media. So feminine imo. Okay girlypop. 😂Group photos are ok.

-men who call themselves “carnivores” (recent health trend on social media)

-men who are obsessed with masculinity, testorone, just any of that manosphere BS. (A man whos actually masculine, just is.. he doesn’t need to hyper focus in it) 😂

-bad hygiene

Anyways what are your guys icks? Any icks we have in common?

(Also the food in the pic is a chocolate pudding chia bowl, it’s so delish!!)
