If it truly is a Namek Saga WWC, and the Frieza isn’t a Final Form Frieza, I am going to lose it

If it truly is a Namek Saga WWC, and the Frieza isn’t a Final Form Frieza, I am going to lose it

For the record, I’m not a Frieza fanboy, and despite how badly the saga needs it, I’m not dying to see a Namek Saga theme personally

But it is RIDICULOUS the way Dokkan has handled Final Form Frieza

Final Form is Frieza’s MOST iconic form. Not first, not Golden. This is his most iconic arc, and in its most iconic appearance

And how, pray tell, does Dokkan handle this form? IT DOESNT!

First form Frieza has had 3 major releases. Two Dokkan festivals and a Prime Battle LR

Full Power Frieza got 2 LRs and a DFE

Golden Frieza got a DFE, a gold coin LR, and an exchange DFE LR

Even Angel Frieza has had two DFEs and a carnival LR

But Final Form… unless you count the Final Form stage of transforming Frieza, the fucking STEPPING STONE that is neither the first or final transformation of the card, has NEVER ONCE gotten anything with more fanfare than a BANNER UNIT. A major release, for the most iconic villain, in his most iconic form, in his most iconic appearance, hasn’t happened in ELEVEN AND A HALF YEARS.

EVERY OTHER form of Frieza that’s considered remotely iconic, aka not 2nd or 3rd form, has gotten at minimum 3 major releases. They NEED to change that, if we’re getting Namek, but some fucking respect on him. I mean, let him go full power after a bit, but he should at least START in this form. Because this? This is fucking ridiculous

The very end of the credits are… for lack of a better word, heartbreaking

Obvious spoilers for anyone who hasn’t finished the entirety of the paragon route in v14. But now that the credits have been uploaded to YouTube, I gave it a new watch

First off, credit where credit is due. Up in Flames is an absolute banger

But man, it wasn’t any of the cutscenes or anything like that along the way that did it. Those were sad, it showed how downtrodden our cast is at this point, no words necessary. But this is the good route, this is the darkest hour, but there’s almost certainly a light awaiting the end of the tunnel.

But when the credits stop scrolling, and the scenes stop playing, that’s when my hope for a happy ending really was tested. When Karma began talking

Karma is a near omniscient being within its worlds. First things first. “Unprecedented path data”. Things have gone so far off script that Karma never once in all of its calculations could have predicted it.

Second, Karma immediately runs new calculations for the odds of Blooming status being achieved… then refuses to share the results. Given that its whole purpose is to produce worlds that will reach Blooming status…

Well, the nail in the coffin comes from its final words. “I won’t lose. I will surpass your expectations. No matter how long it takes.” On top of everything else, this sounds like an admission. If it was just the first part, it would sound like a declaration, that Kaina won’t win, that Karma still has plans to ensure this world reaches Blooming status. But “no matter how long it takes”. Karma believes that this world is no longer capable of realizing that. That line implies that things will have to be reset once more, and the process began anew. As ancient, vast, and powerful as Karma is, the three years ahead aren’t worthy of being noted as however long it takes, that’s a blink of an eye.

I’m sure that things aren’t doomed, that the story will advance in a way that challenges this outcome. Melia seemingly had a plan for all this. But more than anything. More than us dying, the cast’s life being put on a clock, and being faced with an opponent so many steps above what we just got done fighting. Karma’s words at the end of the credits shook my faith that there’s a happy ending awaiting us once the game is finished

The Mastered Evolution mission has me looking at the category for the first time in a while and… man is it inconsistent

Like, at a glance, it seems like it’s pretty obvious. What it says on the tin, transformations the user has mastered, right? Clearly a bunch of forms that took some time but they got down to a science… wait is that SSJ3 Goku? The form it took him like multiple minutes to transform into and drained him of his energy in about as much time? And he said he’s not used to the form?

Okay, maybe it just has to not be the first time they’ve used a form. We know Goku reached SSJ3 off screen a while back. So it’s probably just that, right? Wait, like none of the regular SSJ Gokus are on the category, outside of the 10th anniversary Tag LRs. Uh, guess that’s because they go SSJ3? Oh okay, so the ‘Evolution’ part must mean it has to go beyond SSJ… except for all the SSJ Teen Gohans. In fact, teen Gohan specifically isn’t allowed his SSJ2 forms on the category, just SSJ, even though the Tag Goku/Gohan is excluded despite also being a post-time chamber mastered SSJ form.

Maybe it’s just because we don’t have many post-time chamber SSJ Goku cards because most of them are SSJ2+ since then, and he just fell through the cracks, alright, yeah. Like Super Kaioken isn’t on it, but that’s probably just because of the Kaioken- aaaaaaand Kaioken Blue is on the category, even though Goku was surprised he actually was able to pull it off.

There’s more examples, like RoF Golden Frieza being on when him not having mastered the form is a FUCKING PLOT POINT in the movie, or GoD Toppo being there despite it being his first usage of the form. But man, this category is just allergic to consistent logic

The way different monsters are processed by people is kinda fascinating

Right now I’m sorta in that period where I’m flip flopping between the 3 modern games depending on the vibes I’m feeling that day, until Ascendance comes out. I came back to World last night and did some hunts with randos, and just had a bit of a funny realization.

Online I’ve seen Fatalis and AT Velkhana ranked basically side by side as far as holding the crown for most brutal hunts in the game. Some people saying Velk has more BS attacks while Fatalis is more learnable but punishing if you don’t learn. Some variance of course, but usually it has the two neck and neck

And I kinda realized. Fatalis is still a massive struggle for me. Dozens of hunts later and I’m basically kinda at the point where if I’m super cautious I won’t eat out carts while experienced hunters are making more of the actual progress whittling it down. But AT Velkhana? I legit first tried it and have never failed the quest, off the top of my head I’m not certain if I’ve ever even carted to it. For two hunts regarded as a shared peak of difficulty, my experiences between them would struggle to be any more different. Rajang, AT Nami, even Kulve Taroth, who I never actually fought until MR endgame, all gave me more trouble than AT Velkhana, whose supposed to be as difficult as the only monster I’ve carted this much to in the series, this side of Savage Omega at least

Initial takeaways from the Fusion Cup banlist

I haven’t had time to go over the entirety of it, but just checking on a few things, at least for the more popular current fusion cards

The coming banlist is in effect for it, including BraFu to 1

Super Poly is also at 1. For Branded specifically, White Boy is limited, and they were NOT allowed to keep Dark Ecclesia

Dracotail, beyond the Branded card hits, has Mululu and Ketu put to 1

For Predap, the Clear Wing stuff was left legal, but the Rose Dragon synchros were not

Cyber Dragons were allowed to keep their XYZ and link monsters

Lunalight is untouched, Azamina is untouched, Gem Knight is untouched, Fairy Tail got to keep their XYZ and is untouched, although Magistus got butchered

And for the current popular non-extra deck focused decks, don’t worry. Enneacraft, Vanquish Soul, and Mitsurugi all got absolutely obliterated

That’s most of what I could think to check, hopefully it gives people some starting ground to begin deckbuilding if they haven’t been able to check yet

EDIT: forgot to mention it in the post, but while Moon is banned, the Fiendsmith links are legal. Make of that what you will

My answer to a particularly BS (optional) battle (end of 16-3 paragon)

Let’s be honest, as crazy BS the Madame X fight was, the Madame Shogun spirit battle was even more batshit insane. No strategy, no matter how much offense or defense I brought, could stand up to the onslaught.

So if you can’t beat em, cheese em.

I went for good old fashioned Baton Pass shenanigans. Step 1 is minimize. Madame Shogun will always start by targeting Drifblim with a priority move, so turn 1, switch Aevian Glimmora out for Farigiraf to block. Maximum physical bulk is ideal for the Silvally’s attacks. This ensures you can get 2 minimizes off before Madame Shogun even has a chance to hit Drifblim. I’ll use Power Swap with Farig to steal Shogun’s attack boosts, then Baton Pass back to Glimmora, who can use boosting moves like Automatize and Work Up with Memory Leak to further buff Drifblim.

Whether or not Drifblim gets hit determines if I get greedy enough to go for Calm Minds before passing, but at any rate when passing, it’s going to Falinks, who can use No Retreat for further boosts. But the real sauce is the Zoroark. Crested with Sylveon in the back, and knows Hyper Voice. But more importantly, it’s a King piece on this team, and even more important, it knows Psych Up to copy every one of the many boosts given to your Mega Falinks, including the evasion from Minimize.

From there you can spam the likes of Hyper Voice, Rock Slide, Close Combat, etc. while RNG willing, the entire opposing team is left unable to touch you. Sylveon also can learn Psych Up, so even if Falinks or Zoroark get tagged and go down, you have a chance to keep going by re-copying boosts

It’s not hyper consistent, there will be times Drifblim goes down, but it was the only one of like 7 different team compositions I tried that was actually able to beat the Madame Shogun spirit battle, or even get close. Hopefully it helps anyone else who just wants to clear the battle and get the rewards

Trying to find some new recommendations

Been stagnating a bit on my lineup lately, would like a new one to sink my teeth into. I’ll do my best to be brief and not write an essay about what I like.

Hurt/comfort is something I love, but not necessarily mandatory. I love fics that have someone help Izuku through and past his low self esteem he got from years of bullying, with a look at the damage it did beforehand, before helping him find his value and confidence.

Shipping isn’t mandatory but I’m far from against it. My favorite pairings are Izuku with either Nejire, Mina, or Ochako, but I’m generally not too picky if it’s well written. Just no Bakugo and no harems.

Not necessarily against Bakugo though, I do prefer when he gets a chance to grow and doesn’t have everything swept under the rug, or is just bashed. Some consequences, depth, and character development for him is appreciated, less one dimensional ‘he’s just an asshole’.

Outside of that, I’m mostly open, just nothing too raunchy. Like I love Green Tea Rescue but how raunchy it gets later on is definitely a bit of a deterrent. It can be slice of life or U.A./hero focused, but ideally some of both. Some of my favorites so far have been Blue Haired Angel, Straight Through the Mailbox, Viridescent, Breakdance Buddies, and Erased Potential. Longer stories are generally better in my books, I love something that’ll hold me over for a while, and preferably nothing abandoned, despite me mentioning Viridescent and Erased Potential (they weren’t abandoned when I got into them)

I guess about the only other thing is bonus points if it’s exclusive to AO3. I’ve spent most of my fanfiction life on FFN so I’ve cleared the majority of what I can find on there, and AO3 always felt really… unapproachable in comparison, so I’m sure there’s some great stories there I’m missing out on because navigating the site felt overwhelming, with the few times I tried having to navigate past so, so much smut and harems…

I may have failed to not write a short essay, but with any luck it helps with any recommendations people have!

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a major lore point from the .Karma files and v14

Secondary spoiler warning just in case, if you haven't completed the Paragon route of v14, probably wanna head out.

So during the .karma files, we learn that the world is essentially a testing ground for life created by Karma, to try and find a world that would flourish, and try to make a comeback from the damage humanity did to the original world when they killed Arceus. And we know Karma is a hyper advanced AI program that designs and monitors the worlds, sets up the pieces to fall, etc.

But here's what I'm having trouble wrapping my head around. All of this, it sounds more like a computer running simulations rather than an actual growing world. I know that it is a game, but in universe, it's presented as being an actual, physical world, not a simulation on a computer. Yet it doesn't seem to be presented as such. In the final scenes of the paragon route for 16-3, we see that Karma mentions created hundreds of worlds in mere seconds. Again, makes sense if it's on a computer and it's all just data. Same with Storm-Nym being a literal virus capable of corrupting the world. But again, in universe, it seems to be more implied that this all is real, not a simulated world. That the world was set up by Karma, but it's not on a computer.

We know that Karma is hyper advanced, as is the tech designed by the ancient Garufans. But if this is sowing seeds to bloom on a physical world, how can there be multiple worlds at once? Does Karma transcend time and is trying new versions of the world in multiple timelines? We know previous attempts are essentially covered up by the new planet, the Second and Third layers being previous worlds that wilted, at least that's my understanding. But if Karma has really gone through hundreds of worlds, shouldn't there be an impossible amount of layers for the crust of the earth to contain?

Maybe I'm missing something, maybe something wasn't conveyed as well as it should have been, or maybe I just misunderstood critical, need to know information. But this is a confusion I had since the .karma files, and v14 only exacerbated them further. If anyone has a better comprehension of what's going on here... please explain it to me like I'm not quite five

I’m seeing revisionist history kick in in real time around here

I’m gonna preface this by saying I LOATHE this title update and DLC, this is probably the since most disappointing ‘upgrade’ to a MH game I’ve ever seen, and it straight up feels like it was designed to piss off the game’s fans.

That being said…

The amount of vitriol I see being aimed at Stories 3 as a whole seems out of left field. People calling it trash, unfinished, the worst Stories game, etc.

When the game launched, some people weren’t a fan of it taking the traditional story focused RPG route of not continuing past the credits. But I remember seeing, and agreeing with sentiments singing its praises. The best world, story, characters, core gameplay, just everything, that the series has seen. While previous entries had a postgame stuffed full of content and an expansive Monstie roster to tout about, what Stories 3 did with what it had felt like a true evolution and improvement over what came before. People were coming around on judging it for what it did and not what it didn’t.

Until this update. This garbage update is, in fact, garbage. Bringing back a fan favorite monster in the worst way possible. Bringing back a generally very disliked character. Our ‘endgame system’ just being a stat buff of an optional hard mode with nothing else to it. But a lot of people are letting this update bleed backwards and poison the reputation of the base game, like the extreme issues Rudy’s story and the royal monster update have overwrite what the base game did right. I really feel as if they deserve to be judged separately, that Stories 3 still has everything good it was being praised for before the last 24 hours.

I’m not saying be okay with the update. I’m just shy of livid because it genuinely feels like an intentional snub, like they’re trying to deliberately tank the game’s post launch. Just, maybe don’t drag the pre-existing great game down with it

Fixing Morokei's mask

As the title would suggest, I want to fix Morokei's mask and restore the original shout cooldown reducing effect, without getting the unofficial patch. I've been looking into this for a bit now. I'm on Special Edition. I've tried pretty much every mod that seems like it could be the fix, even the ones that have other aspects I'm not as big on, like turning it into a cloth mask. I even tried a few for OG Skyrim just in case. Nada on all fronts.

I even tried downloading the creation kit for the first time and attempted to follow tutorials on restoring the effect, going in, finding the mask, and giving it the unique enchantment that was supposed to be applied, then connecting the creation kit to mo2 so the plugin would appear in my directory and I could enable it. That didn't work either. Granted I could have done something wrong there, it's not like I've used creation kit before, but I thought it was worth a shot.

I feel I've sorta gone as far as I can with basic internet searches at this point. I'm hoping someone either knows a mod that would work, can walk me through using creation kit enough to get this plugin working, or maybe even went through this themselves and has a working plugin. Just ideally something that can get it working without going to the unofficial patch. Thank you in advance

As controversial as the alt arts are, it’s at least nice of them to supply a ‘free’ second set of medals so you can EZA the original and the alt art without doing the grind all over again

I’m under no delusions that I’m some Monster Hunter master. Even after Worldborne, Risebreak, and Wilds, I’m probably on the better half of average. I’ve fought some of the toughest monsters in all 3 modern games. On a good day, I can make Primordial Malzeno look like a fool.

But Fatalis… I have two victories against Fatalis under my belt and I’m gonna be honest, neither of them feel earned. Both of them felt like me doing my best to not die while people who actually knew how to massacre it did the heavy lifting. If anything the fight frustrates me more than anything since it seems like Fatalis even thinks about moving vaguely in my direction and I lose half my health through a level 5 Divine Blessing proc, forget about it not proccing.

And usually I like getting my ass beat. I’m still flipping a coin on whether or not I’m getting in the groove with AT Arkveld or if I’m getting triple carted, and it’s a great time either way. But there’s something about Fatalis. I’m not enjoying it kicking my ass. I don’t feel like I’m improving even dozens of attempts later. It almost feels like it’s a fight you aren’t supposed to be able to master even though I KNOW that’s not the case. I’m just… missing something. I have similar reservations about Alatreon but one, that fight seems to be vastly disliked, and two, at least I feel like I’ve clawed a bit of skill at recognizing its patterns in less attempts.

I know it’s considered hardest fight in modern monster hunter but I seriously feel like I’m missing something. None of the other title update superbosses have been this far out of reach for me. Why won’t it click?
