Tips and Tricks for new PM role

Hi Everyone.

I’m starting a new project management role in construction specifically in the commissioning. I don’t have PMP nor other certifications. I have run small projects myself that are $20k but nothing larger at a large scale. I was wondering if folks here can guide me on what I should look into and wanted to learn from folks that have been in the industry for awhile. Any suggestions would be helpful to be a good PM. (Ex. Doing meeting minutes with attendees with action items, etc)

I’m going to do my PMP but that would be a year from now. Just need some information now so I can be successful in my new job.

Glitchy After upgrade to V12

I had Jellyfin v10.11 installed on my windows 10 IOT which was working great. I recently updated to Jellyfin v12 and the videos are playing back glitchy with frame freezes. I was wondering if people are also have this issue and what would be the solution to this.

Debian vs Ubuntu Server for first home server OS

Setting up my first home server. I have some experience with Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server should be similar. But wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on which os is the best for a home server (file storage, some self hosted apps like immich, etc).

Best place to buy used Drives

I have a NAS set up. Trying to increase storage. Where is everyone buying hard drives? I’ve seen some cheap SAS drives on eBay but I don’t want to deal with a HBA. Where are folks buying SATA drives (used or refurbished or new)?

Store all photos in one folder

I want to store photos similar to how Jellyfin stores movies. I want to have all my photos in a folder and don’t want it how immich has it in multiple folders and sub folders. Is there a way to do that on immich?

I’m using Ubuntu desktop which is running casaos is how I run immich.

We have seen a bunch of critters such as cockroaches, long bugs and scorpions inside the house.

Does anyone have any good pest control companies they use. Please send me your recommendations.

Question on Offsite backup of confidential files - encryption

I have a local server running Ubuntu with RAID1. I want to sync some confidential stuff like copies of my passport and drivers license to an offsite backup. I’m wondering what everyone is using. I’m thinking about using SyncThing but I want to add another layer encryption to make sure my important files don’t get compromised. I’ll be using Tailscale to connect the two computers together that are not in network.
What are others using or how can I make my things more secure

Best os to run Jellyfin Server

I was running Jellyfin server on my Windows 10 minipc (i5 7th gen, 8GB RAM) that is connected to my TV. Recently I’m getting more errors in running the Jellyfin server. What OS is everyone running their Jellyfin server on?

I was thinking about Ubuntu Desktop since it has a GUI. I am better with a graphic interface rather than a command line operating system so I need something with a GUI. I’ve heard about Linux Mint as well.

Wondering what the majority folks are using and what they would recommend me.

Also I’m not running anything else on this PC. It’s strictly for Jellyfin and watching stuff on my TV as this PC is connected to my TV.

NAS using Ubuntu Desktop RAID1 BTRFS Question

Using Ubuntu Desktop to run docker and store my files natively on Ubuntu file manager.

I don’t want to use applications like TrueNAS or NextCloud. I’ve tried them and I’d rather store the files natively on the computer. I have my backup set up on an offsite computer on a weekly basis through SyncThings.

I am thinking about running RAID1 and BTRFS. Because I am scared of bitrot and redundancy.

Has anyone tried to set up? I’m using a Lenovo Q920s desktop pc running Ubuntu Desktop os.

Streaming Options

How are you using TorBox to stream? I’m using a GoogleTV with Kodi and linking it to the WebDav of TorBox.

Is there a better way to stream?

I wish it was similar to JellyFin/Plex where it shows with the art work and all the details.

Extra Bumpy and Vibration

I drive a 2015 Lexus GX460 SUV.
I recently got my lower and upper control arms changed. Then got a wheel alignment and then got brand new rubbers (Michelin defenders). One thing I started noticing that my car was extra bumpy, there was slight vibrations (not in the steering wheel) but in floor board espeically when I drove between 40-60mph. Also when I drive over bumps I feel it twice from the front drivers side.

I got my wheels rebalanced twice and got my vehicle aligned twice. The issue still persists.

Could it be that when the mechanic that changed my lower and upper control arms did all the work when the car was in the air and tightened it and not when the car was flat with the weight of its wheels?

Vibration in Steering Wheel at 60mpg help

I am having a slight steering wheel shake in my 2015 Lexus GX 460 that peaks right around 60 mph but completely disappears and smooths out once I hit 80 mph. The vibration is felt almost entirely through the steering wheel rather than the floorboard or seat.

This started happening after I recently replaced both upper control arms, both lower control arms, both tie rod ends, the rear shock absorbers, and put on four brand new tires followed by a full alignment. Since almost the entire front end is completely new, I am stuck on what could be causing this speed-specific issue. Has anyone else experienced this on this platform, and what should I look into next?

Ai At work

I wanted to know what other folks are doing by incorporating AI into their work. Either by creating an agent or just using simple prompts to help themselves when it comes to data centers.

When I’m using to read reports that are coming from vendors.

Integrating Jellyfin

I was just wondering, is there anyway to integrate Jellyfin with TorBox? What I want is the ability to stream links from TorBox on a nice platform so is very easy to do on my phone or anything else
