Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy Announces $5.3 Billion Investment in Rail Safety Upgrades, New Amtrak Train Sets

In the statement, the White House attacks the California HSR project (for no reason, in my opinion) and claims that this money was made available by slashing its federal funding. They say:

In total, the $5.3 billion grant package will:

  • Close over 30 grade crossings and upgrade over a thousand with new infrastructure and technology
  • Purchase 43 Made-in-America trainsets to replace Amtrak’s aging fleet in high-demand corridors
  • Overhaul 41 locomotives currently serving Amtrak’s Midwest and Pacific routes.

What do you guys think about this? Obviously it is a mistake to abandon the California HSR project, but at least they're moving the money to other rail projects around the country.

Why do people frequently compare America to the whole of Europe?

On a daily basis, there are questions on here that ask things such as:
"Is Europe more racist to Black people than the United States?"
"Why are Americans so social compared to Europeans?"
"Why are Europeans so much happier than Americans?"

This is not the case exclusively on r/NoStupidQuestions. People do this in real life too.

These questions don't make sense to me. Europe is not a singular country and it is a large conglomerate of cultures and languages. What is the point of these questions? Or do people literally think the whole of Europe is the exact same?

Karma-seeking Redditor attempts to argue that Europe is less racist than America towards black people, and that American racism is more deadly to them. Backfires spectacularly.
