My Magic System(feedback appreciated)

So context first: the world of Hollow Lake is a dark fantasy world that takes place large pit that’s surrounded by cliffs on all sides, it’s substantially larger in surface area than the earth(not sure by how much but yea), it’s part of a flat plain. While there are plants and animals who serve similar functions as ones in the real world there are none directly from the real world. The environment is rather hostile and deadly, for example there are gigantic storms that constantly rage across the world, the hottest desert is too hot for people to survive, some places the winter is said to flash freeze a fire. The ocean is unforgiving. And in the middle of the world there is something called the Iris, which is a large impact point in the middle surrounded by a ring of mountains that crosses land and sea. There are straits but storms don’t pass through. The waters within the Iris are calm to an eerie extent. But that’s not to say the this is a less hostile area. Within the Iris the sun is at its hottest(where the previously mentioned desert is btw.) but oh well that’s enough of that, species that inhabit the world are Humans, then there is a subterranean race of anthropomorphic eusocial bugs called Myr, and then there are the Nobilis, and the Morior, which are from other dimensions but bound to this one, and stand ins for typical good and evil. At least in perception. So last two are Automatons and what I call “tourists” which yea they’re spirits or entities that don’t belong in this realm. Also the technology level can be compared to the sixteen hundreds

Anyway the magic system:

So there are two types of magic and three general types of magic users. Those being, sorcery and Alchemy. And the magic users are Sorcerers, Alchemists, and Casters. With those last two overlapping a fair bit usually.

The natural world is full of magic, but it’s not something that is acknowledged if that makes sense? It’s just seen as part of nature. Sorcery is when it is tied to a person. Only humans can be sorcerers, the reason for this is that humans are the only ones who can breed with “tourist” entities, and that entity’s magic passes on to the offspring, but the inherent magic such an entity passes down, which is usually far less than itself has, is still far greater than a human can actually use so it is then again passed down a few generations at least.

Anyway! Alchemy would be using natural resorces to “make” magic, that is to say extract its properties and use it to make something else. This includes spells which must be carried for a wizard to use them. Which is what a caster is, someone who uses items or tools made my an Alchemist, and that often means they overlap, since most Alchemists would use their magic items. but casters are more numerous because using items is easier than making them.

Sorcery kinda just ends here because all I really can say beyond this is that it’s instinctual but can be practiced, and it’s cost is the same as any other muscle in the body, so sorcerers have fast metabolisms usually.

Now back to alchemy, the cost of making is just knowing what to use and how to use it, really that simple, though it is a difficult field to learn, so it’s usually elitist too since the average peasant can’t afford to learn it I’m sure you get the gist. Casters too but less so since it’s easier to learn but also you need to be able to afford the items. Casting has a heavier price too on the user since it effects the body, mainly spells have a heavy drain on their mental health.

There are restrictions on what it can do, but I’m still struggling to decide what it can do, if you feel that makes this pointless, yea probably I just wanted to share what I have and maybe get some advice on how to make it good.

“I may appear to have the weak and feeble body of a woman but I possess the heart and spirit of a king”

Only post I’m ever making on this subreddit or show for that matter. All I’m saying is that line makes me fucking gag!

Do you see sports as a tool for socialism?

So with the World Cup I thought I’d ask around, to be clear I’m not suggesting FIFA is something to cooperate with because it so obviously isn’t. I’m mainly reminded of Mandela’s speech about exactly this. Anyway I’m curious about this sub’s opinions. My own opinion is yes, even if it is overly commercialised currently.

Implications of a large world?

So a few days ago I posted a map where explained some lore and I made a typo but also I made a decision based on bad calculations. So anyway the setting Im working on is a giant pit in not really the middle but also kinda, of an endless plain. So anyway the calculation error was that the earths surface would be 50k kilometres in diameter across should it be a flat disk(and the area was meant to be equal to that of the earth) this was obviously wrong. But further more I made the initial typo of saying it was 500k kilometres in diameter. Which yea that’s rather large. But oh well, I decided to entertain the idea of leaning into it. The world is also surrounded by cliffs roughly 20 kilometres tall(also ridiculously large ik) so what I’m seeking is advice and maybe some things I should keep in mind if I decide to make it somewhere between 50k-500k in diameter, I’m aware that’s a huge gap in between but I haven’t decided exactly how large it is.. The surface of the pit is meant to be around 70% water and of the land area around 60-70% habitable(from what I’ve found online this seems to be the case for the earth too). It is a fantasy setting, high fantasy too, so I am willing to hand wave things but I don’t want to completely do that and I’m seeking a balance of that. If you think this is a bad idea I’m not against hearing that either. Anyway the question yes mainly environmental implications of such a large world is what I’m asking for.

Some context: the world of Hollow Lake is a dark fantasy world, it’s a large pit the cliffs surrounding it are roughly 20\~ km high above the sea level. It is mainly populated by three intelligent species. Besides humans there would be Morior and Nobilis(basically evil and good species, or at least perceived). The latter two not really being from the material plain and thus can’t use magic native to it on their own, instead having to use alchemy, which in this setting is using magical properties of materials. Magic is innate in all humans but it needs to be learned and its difficult so most don’t practice it. There are also what I call “tourist entities” that is to say entities that strictly do not belong on this plain of existence and are usually just passing by, and they sometimes reproduce with humans which creates Sorcerers who have only the magic of their non human parent, which is stronger usually but less versatile. This gets passed down but it fades usually after three generations. The technology level is roughly similar to 1600 ad~ in the real world

Aang vs Elric of Melniboné

So I have a general idea of who wins but hey I might be bad at judging so I thought I’d ask here.

Round 1: both in their prime. No time to prepare or knowledge of the other.

Round 2: all named avatars vs all named Eternal champions.

Edited:

Round 3: Aang does not have the avatar state and Elric does not have stormbringer but instead has a standard sword

Initially I was quite satisfied but idk at this point. How does it look?

Some context: the world of Hollow Lake is a dark fantasy world, it’s a large crates that’s 50000~ km across and the cliffs surrounding it are roughly 20~ km high above the sea level. Who is your favorite leftist content creator and why?

I don’t particularly care for most of them but the Kavernacle is probably the one I watch the most.

What does “lesbian Yaoi” mean?

This is not a post acting like it’s a ridiculous concept to begin with, like whatever you like and if it’s fictional in general the rule is who gives a shit. But anyway the question, yes so I see these memes where they list like straight “women yaoi”, “gay men yaoi”, “lesbian yaoi”, and “straight men Yaoi” with the joke generally being that straight men yaoi is just some anime or manga where the male protagonist and antagonist want to kill one another and it’s implied that creates sexual tension, the one I’ve seen the most is berserk. Be that as it may, what catches my eye is the “lesbian Yaoi” and I’m left wondering, can anyone explain it to me? Is that a thing? Or is it just made up for the meme?

Thoughts on this handsome gentleman?

Personally I 100% subscribe to the theory that Engels just made him up to fuck with Marx. I know it’s probably not true but I find it really funny so I choose to believe.

Does anyone have any advice for improving these coast lines?

Tagging map and not questions, not sure if that’s ok. Anyway,

The world of Hollow Lake is a large pit surrounded by cliffs that seem to reach the sky. At the top of the cliffs, because yes there is a top, are endless fields of golden grass. At the bottom of this pit is a well large salt water lake, and the map seen above. Inhabited by humans and what are considered the noble race(basically elves and dwarves, which are considered one) as well as the cruel race(basically dark elves and orcs which are considered one). Magic is an ever present force in Hollow Lake, which is divided into three categories, arcane, sorcery, and alchemy. The arcane can only be used by humans because its the natural force of this world and neither the noble race nor the cruel race are of this world. While sorcery can only be used by humans who are born with a special organ. Which happens if one of their parents is not of this world. Now to clarify that does not mean the previously mentioned races(confusingly ik). And alchemy is basically just using magical properties of some kind of resource. Which the noble race and the cruel race can use. Anyway that’s a peek into the chaotic setting I’m making.

Is there any solid evidence that the Khazar Khanate had converted to Judaism?

I won’t lie I heard about the khazar Khanate through crusader kings 2 where they starting characters are Jewish. And I knew nothing of it so I just accepted it. But then I briefly looked into it and all I could find were some star of david iconography which like no I don’t accept that as proof of anything really. It’s a very basic shape.
