Trade Foundation Programs
Anybody here take a pre-apprenticeship/Foundation trade program? I'm a little older but I'm thinking of making the switch and taking one.

I dated someone last year for 9 months. We were friends for 2 years prior. During most of the time we were friends, she was in a relationship with somebody else. I sensed we had mutual feelings for each other and when her relationship ended, she pursued me. She then confessed to liking me when she was with her ex-bf and I told her that I had feelings for her as well. Those 9 months were honestly such a great and amazing time.
Last August I was hit with her leaving me out of the blue. There was no explanation and I didn't push or prod for closure because I believe I already knew the answer based off her distance. That was it, we no longer spoke. I became depressed and went through the typical feelings of loss and sadness one would feel after a break-up.
4 months later, in December, I got a text from her and it was very surface level. When I brought up why she felt the need to text me after so many months of no contact, I didn't exactly get an answer I was hoping for. The reply she gave me was quite dry and nonchalant. Over this past year, we spoke 3 or 4 times over the phone. These calls usually lasted anywhere between 1 - 2 hours. We also texted maybe a couple times per month on average - nothing really about what happened between us but just casual conversation regarding work and humor. I thought I'd try and rekindle the friendship at least but I continue getting mixed signals if she even wants that anymore. For instance, I texted her tonight if she wanted to talk on the phone but I received no reply.
Currently, she'll reach out randomly about something every three weeks or so and then disappear again. I haven't dated anybody since her and I feel like I've developed some trust issues because of this. In other words, I can't even begin to think about the good parts regarding dating because my mind always thinks they could leave again. I sometimes think "if someone who I knew for three years and spent 9 months with could leave me so easily, what's stopping somebody I just met from doing the same?" I know that's an unhealthy thinking pattern, but I want to be transparent in this post.
I did truly love her at one point and to some degree, I still do. I sometimes think that the friendship got ruined because of us going to the next level but I cannot change that now, unfortunately. Looking back, I wish I would have asked her last August why she was distant. I suppose I was trying to protect myself and chose not to confront it. I know that's a horrible justification though and maybe should have been more confident in my ability to inquire.
I think I already know the answer and what people are going to tell me, but I need to hear it from someone. I usually keep these things to myself and I don't share my feelings too often to friends or family regarding my personal dating life. But I'm at a point where I truly need some advice. I just want raw, honest advice with no sugarcoating. I think constructive criticism is imperative for growth, so I'm all ears. Has anybody been through this? If so, what did you do to let go and move on with your life? Thank you
I know someone who is selling there 2008 Nissan Rogue for $5,000 CDN. It has 175k on it and no major issues. The only thing I'm aware of is that it sometimes putters when you take your foot off the brake after driving it for some time.
Is it worth purchasing? Or should I put that money towards a new Sentra and make the payments? I've always driven used Nissans but it's only been recently this year that I've been looking at new ones. Any advice would be appreciated.
I see so many jobs with such low pay but high requirement demands. It's always "1+ year in blah blah" and "XYZ training is an asset" or "must have blah blah blah." Then you see the compensation at the bottom of the page (after what seems like 10 different requirements) and realize it's just a fraction of a hair above minimum wage lol.
Anyways, I hope anyone who read this little rant has a great day! Be easy on yourselves and remember to treat yourself every once and a while :)
I think it's right to be respectful to them when they return but also inform them how you did not appreciate them ghosting.
How would you reply to this person once they reach out again?
Do these programs help gain employment or are the trades so oversaturated with applicants that completion of said programs no longer matter?
I know participants in these programs can gain theory, familiarity with tools and other things but do they even help people get hired these days?
could anybody here who has taken a foundations program speak on their experience after the program and whether they were able to find employment as an apprentice or not?
I've driven Nissan's all my life and I'm currently looking to buy a new vehicle (or new used) from local Nissan dealer.
I'm single with no kids so I'm not buying one over the other for space/size or anything like that. I just want something for everyday use in town and reliability. I'm aware Nissan went through a period of time where their CVT transmissions were not good, but from my understanding, these issues have been greatly improved in today's models.
Which of the these would you recommend to look further into? Sentra, Rogue or Qashqai.
Thank you!
Which one is worth getting?
I made a post here a few days ago saying I was going to begin my first playthrough. All I wanted to say is that Khazan is bloody amazing.
That is all lol.
Context: we were good friends before dating.
I (M) was left without any reason by someone I had been seeing for nine months last year. She suddenly just vanished - no texts, calls, check ins, absolutely nothing. I could have reached out during that time but I knew the answer already based on the lack of communication. I understand that I could have been more direct and reached out asking for clarity, but I was so in my head about the situation and being blindsided that I just thought I'd vanish from her life as well.
After a few months, she reached out late last year - nothing to do with what happened but with just very surface level conversation. I finally addressed what had happened a couple days after she broke no contact and her response was quite flat. That opened up the wound again because it felt like not only did she not take accountability for leaving but that she also simply didn't care at all.
I began lying to myself and thinking we could be friends - but I secretly always wanted more. I would reach out occasionally, talk on the phone with her and lightly joke around. This was not a good idea to do. I always thought to myself "well, I'd rather have her in my life as a friend than not at all" but I now see that this isn't the best idea. Because the situation with her and I was never resolved and no answers were made clear, I was basically telling her (without directly saying it) that I was okay with what she did and how she just disappeared - when in fact, it ate me alive.
I've come to the conclusion that in order to move on with my life, I need to cut all communication. It sucks, but it's not like there was much substance anymore with us anyways. At the same time, it feels as though I have developed issues with trust. I think I'll have to unlearn many things and expectations going forward in the dating world.
If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate your words.
I used to work as a custodian for three years full-time. It was hard on the body but I overall did not mind it whatsoever. I love working alone - mowing lawns in the summer or going on supply runs in the middle of the day were a nice change. I felt so accomplished coming home in the late afternoon and also at peace knowing that my job was beneficial to the people who work/live in the building. It was a rinse and repeat type of job, which me being a creature of habit, really enjoys. It's difficult to explain, but when I'm working a job that's independent, structured, predictable, and routine-oriented, everything else in my life begins to click as well because I'm not mentally wasting energy worrying about work. It was basically show up, do same tasks, and leave lol. I love that kinda work. I never once got the "Sunday Scaries" and would ultimately enjoy every minute of the weekend. When Sunday night would come around all I'd think is "oh shit, it's 11pm. I better turn off this movie and get to bed soon." I was never dreading work or anxious - it was quite fantastic to be honest. Although it's taxing on the body, I got used to it and began looking forward to it most days where I could get lost in my thoughts and self-reflect while I clean and earn a living. Some days were chaotic though but there will always be those days no matter what.
I went back to the field I went to school for, and although it's going alright, I sometimes miss the days where it was just me, the empty hallway, my push broom and some music lol. Am I romanticizing custodial work? I don't make that much more now than when I was working full-time as a custodian, so the thought of going back has been on my mind lately. I sometimes regret leaving it.
Anyways, thanks for reading. I appreciate what you all do!

I just beat Lies of P and I've had my eye on FBK for a while now. I finally bought it last night and I'm pretty excited to begin playing it. Are there any tips I should know before starting?
