he is currently on his second treatment, with a different type of eyedrops.

he has already had a one week course of treatment that he finished a few weeks ago, and then i went back in as it still didn't fully heal his eye.

now he is mid way through his 2nd one week course of treatment, but i'm still not seeing any improvement.

he is an only cat, that is indoors. he has previously lived with other cats (3 different ones from different flatmates i have had in the past).

the photos are from the day i noticed, and a few from the first course of treatment, and some recently. it includes the date the photos were taken. (left eye in the pictures)

his eye just seems slightly swollen, and his third eyelid is covering his eye a bit, and is a bit pink.

any advice on what to do??? I'm really confused as to why nothing has been fixing this issue, especially considering visually wise, it’s quite a minor irritation.

i have spoke to him since. i stated clearly that we have deep issues than just cleaning and sex, which is his communication skills. his communication skills are what is essentially preventing us from fixing issues that could easily get fixed, as it is impossible to bring up issues with someone who instantly gets defensive.

we have agreed that we will keep on having conversations about what we are going to do, and where are relationship is heading, until the end of the month, right before we go on holiday. he will also try and improve on the communication skills and take on some more household chores etc, but we shall see.

before we go on holiday by the end of the month, we will come to decision on whether we will continue to live together or not.

if we decide to not live together, then we will see how our relationship is from there onwards, and how we both feel for each other as well, and see whether a break up is necessary.

my boyfriend and i have been together for 2 years, and have been living together for 1.5 years.

the first 4 months of living together were completely fine, but he started to slack in terms of chores. at the time he said he didn’t feel like the place we lived in (he moved into a flat with me and my two friends) felt like his own place, hence he didn’t really contribute to chores. during this time, he was working in hospitality and i was doing my final year at uni. i excused it because we still had a lot of fun, and we got along really well.

last year we then moved into a flat with just one of my friends. he has now started his first year of uni, and i am doing my postgraduate masters. for the past year in this current flat, cleaning has become a massive issue within our relationship.

when we moved to our current flat, i finally told him i wasn’t going to do his laundry anymore. however, i still have been the one to vacuum, wash the bedding/sheets, clean the bathroom/toilet, and just tidy in general. i also have my own cat to look after as well, and dealing with being on medication for adhd for the first time. whilst he just goes on his PC and games nearly all day.

since bringing up this issue with him multiple times, there has been nearly no changes, and he tends to always get extremely defensive when i bring it up. he always says that i just have a higher level of cleanliness, but i really don’t think i do, it’s just basic adult chores. last month i had a serious chat to him, and said that if things don’t change, we can’t live together anymore, and if we don’t live together anymore, i will probably end things. because to me, it just shows a clear lack of respect.

now, it got brought up a couple days ago, and he insists that he has improved and also that he does to a lot. he now makes the bed in the morning when he gets up (i get up around 9 a.m, he gets up around 1 p.m-3p.m), and he takes out the bin bags maybe 50-60% of the time. maybe i’m blind, but i really don’t understand what he’s improved on? this has also impacted our sex lives, and we go months without having sex, as i just don’t really want to anymore. he also never makes the effort to get to know what i want in bed, he doesn’t really like giving oral. i had my first orgasm by myself the other week, and he didn’t really care, he just said “why are you telling me this”

every time i get annoyed when i’m doing chores and he’s just sat in front of his PC, and he realises i’m mad at him he just says that i didn’t tell him i was cleaning and get annoyed at me for being mad. he also stated that i’m “letting such a small thing potentially lead to a break up”. he was also the one to suggest moving away from each other, and that if i want someone who has a higher standard of cleanliness to find someone else.

should i end things?

For context:

I started taking Elvanse a few weeks ago, starting at 30mg, after a week moved up to 50mg, and on saturday i will be moving up to 70mg. I was previously on Medikinet XL but had a horrible experience.

My question:

I’ve heard a lot of people suggest to wake up and take your medication and then sleep for a few hours more. I have tried this as, I was struggling with taking it too late and not being able to sleep, so this method has been working well to combat that.

HOWEVER, my appetite is now suffering A LOT. I just tried to have a meal in the morning and whilst i was chewing, i had to spit it out cause i was gagging and thought i would throw up. The only thing I am able to stomach is a protein shake in the morning, and maybe one small meal towards the end of the day. granted i think some of the lack of appetite is also due to stress as i am currently going through exam season.

I am just worried about messing up my body from not eating enough, which i really don’t want to do. Before Elvanse i was at 67kg (165cm), and 3 weeks in, i’m at 65kg, which i understand is water weight. I am also just struggling mentally with wanting to lose weight, and trying to fight that thought in my head as well. i gained 15kg from 52kg to 67kg in 2024-2025 due to the injection birth control, which i no longer am on, but this has made me very insecure, and it’s hard not to take advantage of the lack of appetite. at the same time i am also anxious about messing my body up, and i truly don’t want that for myself.

Also other than this issue, Elvanse has been working so much better for me than Medikinet XL, and i have no other side effects.
