Tank iPhone 17 Pro: buttons way to easy to click

Got the case from Best Buy a few days ago and after some googling I realized they are selling “old” version. Accidental button clicks are very annoying. What’s the easier route — demand the “new” buttons from dbrand or return the Tank and look for a better quality case?

P10PF in hot climates?

Those of you with P10PF is hot climates, how are your phones holding up? I have an upcoming trip to Virginia/Maryland later this week with lots of walking outside — the forecast says 35-37C/95-98F and high humidity— I’m seriously thinking of leaving my Fold at home…

A distant memory: cold borscht

Growing up in Eastern Europe, there were certain foods that defined home. Nothing fancy - just simple things that carried generations of tradition. Lately I’ve found myself thinking about cold borscht (the bright pink beet soup served ice cold, with sour cream, cucumbers, dill, eggs…). On hot summer days it was just there. My grandmother insisted her version was the right one.

Now it feels like a lifetime ago. All the people who knew how to make it from memory are long gone. Along with them huge part of me has disappeared forever. It’s strange how nostalgia isn’t always about major life events. Sometimes it’s just the taste of a bowl of cold borscht that instantly brings back childhood, family gatherings, and a world of small shtetls that no longer exists.

Did the update fix PW fitness metrics being wildly out of whack?

May be a bit early to tell, but for the past few months my PW4 was wildly inaccurate in steps and calorie counting, multiple bugs in exercise tracking and recording, etc. I know the sloppy and rushed Google Health update throws some more chaos in, but the fact remains unchanged: PW + Google Health tandem can't be trusted with any health or fitness metrics at this time.

eSIM transfers between Pixel and iPhone no longer working

Esim transfers between my Pixel 10 Pro Fold and iPhone 17 Pro used to be quick and seamless and there was no need to use T-Life. However, either since May Google Play system update, or iOS 26.5.1 update, or maybe something recent on the T-Mo side, the phones no longer connect via a generated QR code to transfer esim. Manual connection attempts via session ID fail, too. Anyone else?

Makes my blood boil

I’m a Jew in my 40s, my fuse is getting shorter.

Hey “Jewish Voice for Peace” and similar self-hating groups so determined to provide Jewish cover for those fixated on exterminating every single one of us. How did you end up standing behind savagery? Your appeasement and attempts to get with the program will guarantee you one thing, and one thing only: a place in line to the shower which isn’t a shower.

To every Jew who feels enraged, powerless, and isolated by this moment: stay strong and stand tall. Jewish life and dignity did not begin with today’s dark times and it will not end with them.

Mentally shelved CC until delivery

I’m long sold on the device, I fully preordered because I genuinely like the concept and want to support the project. God I miss a good device with buttons. That said, I have some reasonable doubts about whether I will actually have the device in hand before the end of the year. Shipping is slated for late Q4, which means CC will be competing with the usual holiday-season logistics crunch when carriers, customs, and fulfillment networks are already operating at maximum capacity. On top of that, the current geopolitical environment seems to generate a new supply-chain curveball every few weeks. Tariffs, trade restrictions, regional conflicts, transportation disruptions - all that crap. Any one of those could introduce delays, especially for a new hardware product with a global-ish customer base. hope I’m wrong. I’d love nothing more than to be typing on it before New Year’s. But from a purely logistics perspective, late-Q4 delivery feels ambitious.

Anyone’s Google Maps updated to “immersive navigation “?

iPhone users have had it for quite a while now, but my Pixel 10 Pro Fold is still on the old version

I’m tired, boss

I’ve been trying to give the PW4 a fair shot, but at this point the combination of the watch and the Fitbit app feels like a paid beta test masquerading as a “premium health platform.”

PW is the most elegant, stylish looking smartwatch on the market but health metrics are becoming borderline unusable when combined with Fitbit app. The bugs are relentless, the metrics are comically off. The most frustrating part is that Google markets this ecosystem as serious health tech. If you’re charging premium prices and encouraging people to rely on these metrics for wellness tracking, the data should at least be internally consistent. Right now it feels like everything is stitched together with duct tape, vibecoded slop, and biryani. And instead of fixing the fundamentals, Google is busy slapping a new “Google Health” sign over the thoroughly enshittified Fitbit app. PW 4 is excellent hardware, but goes in the drawer - at this point I can’t trust anything the watch and/or Fitbit app report.
