I'm making the Caesar-style tortellini with pork today. I still use the card instead of pulling the recipe up on the Publix site.
It's been a good season for my blueberries. We pick berries every morning and snack on them all day long. If I have enough berries at the end of the day, I'll make a batch of muffins before bed so they are ready for breakfast.
I found this tucked in a old cookbook. If Pyrex was selling for $1.39, it must be old.
Found at my store this morning.
I like to stitch TV and movie characters while I am binge watching. In some cases, there aren't any patterns out there, so I've started designing my own characters. I'm pretty proud of the Letterkenny characters I designed for my rewatch of the show. Most of the mistakes I made were due to modifying the pattern while stitching. I only do these projects for my own enjoyment (and to keep me from snacking) so I'm fine if it's not perfect. I use Stitch Fiddle when designing my own patterns.
My mom made a lot of my clothes when I was young. My kids get a good laugh when they see photos of me in her creations. She especially liked to dress me for school pictures, family gatherings, or any event where there were cameras so she could immortalize her work. My mom was actually a very good seamstress but she chose a lot of trendy fabrics and patterns from the 70’s. Think brown corduroy gauchos with a matching vest. I spent a good portion of my youth in Jo-Ann Fabrics looking at Simplicity and McCall’s patterns with her.
I had a crazy urge to make baked beans from scratch. They taste amazing! After reading the comments on several recipes, getting the beans to be fully cooked can be tricky. I soaked and parboiled the beans before putting them in the slow cooker and it worked. Now that I know how easy it is, I will probably play around with the ingredients. But here’s what I did for this batch of beans:
1 lb dry navy beans
12 oz chili sauce
1 large onion, chopped
¼ lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup molasses
¼ cup maple syrup
2 cups water
1 Tbsp dry mustard
1 Tbsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
Soak beans with plenty of water for 12 hours. Drain and rinse. Place beans with enough water to cover in a pot and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes, drain. Place beans in slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook on high for 9-10 hours. Add more water if needed.
It looks to be a good year for my blueberries. I've picked (and eaten) three pints so far.
I would have had a full bowl but I had to do extensive quality control.
I found this gem tucked in one of my aunt's old cookbooks.
I found this on the back of a recipe my aunt cut out of the paper and tucked into a cookbook. I packed a lunch every day, so I never had any of these tasty delights.
My husband insists he didn't help them. ❤️ Happy Mother's Day!
The add-ons made this box a good one. I got the pineapple trays specifically for Jell-o shots.
I love taking close-ups of my blueberries as they are developing to see all the little details. I have several blueberry bushes that are about 15 years old. They produce enough berries every year to keep me and the birds happy.
I had some leftover pie dough that wouldn't fit a pie pan. It was enough to make a small mixed berry galette. It was so good served warm with vanilla ice cream.
I am more excited about the spring clearance items I scored than I am my summer box. I had a 10% scratcher plus about $10 in credit, so I got all this for $100.31.
