I used to call 1-800-My-Yahoo from a payphone to listen to my emails when the library was closed

I was utilizing this service late 2001. An automated voice would instruct you to enter your email address and then password via the keypad then you could progress through your emails with the pound key. It was a totally free service that was an effective way to receive communication through email when you couldn't access a computer. Soon I acquired a pager and would receive certain codes from my significant other to go to a preplanned payphone they had the number for at a certain time so they could call me when I had no quarters to call them. Early 2000s communication was much like being a spy when you were impoverished and/or in love.

Nighttime Establishing Shots

Some sets, some previously existing, some have a certain loneliness that I romanticize and aren't necessarily humorous and won't generate the typical comment section full of quotes. I don't expect many up votes from a post like this, but hopefully one day I will see a recognizable building from the series in real life and that will be worth more than internet "karma". If this subreddit allowed videos, I would just upload the sad jazz songs that play in contemplative scenes. I've even learned and downloaded Lonely Woman by Horace Silver because of this series. Season 1 may always be a nightlight as I sleep. I pray you all sleep as well as Kramer after losing "The Contest". Goodnight

Thirty years ago Markovian Parallax Denigrate hit Usenet this day in 1996

These messages were posted 5th August 1996 to the alt.religion.christian.boston-church newsgroup and are still considered one of the oldest unsolved internet mysteries. Some have stated it was most likely a prank, but it's gibberish text of non sequitur words had some early internet conspiracy theorists believing it was secret code talk amongst spies using a random, low-traffic Usenet newsgroup instead of pen and paper at dead drops to communicate. The source or reason for these messages may never be solved.

David Liebe Hart - My Mama Died

Sometimes I really resonate with David's emotions in this song when I think about losing my mother. A nursing home gave her another patient's meds the whole time she was there and it killed her. We sued and they recently settled before it went to court.

Dark City (1998)

Neo-noir science fiction at its finest. This film took me a few attempts to view it all the way through because I would put it in the VCR late at night and the dark cinematography and music would put me to sleep.

Bug Juice 1998

Promo for the first season of Bug Juice that aired on Disney 1998. This is considered lost media to some as it hasn't aired since the early 2000s and has never been on Disney+.
