Start with mercenaries or clans?

Never played Mechwarrior. I own both trought steamsale Mercenaries and Clans. Which one you would suggest to start?

And which control you suggest too, controller or mouse/keyboard?

Edit: Thanks for the feedback. Then I will choose the Batchall (Clans), and later on, I will dare to refuse the Batchall to Nikolai Malthus (Mercs Chaos).

Random ad "Decision at Thunder Rift" book

I’m reading Decision at Thunder Rift, specifically the first German printing from 1989. In Chapter 3, there is a completely unrelated advertisement for Maggi, a major food company that is still active today.

I have never seen a random advertisement placed in the middle of a novel before. Advertisements for other publications at the end of a book are fairly common, but this seems unusual.

Does this advertisement appear only in the German edition, or do the English editions also contain random ads?

I got the "Battletech Universe" book. The map shows the inner sphere 2765. Which periphery is this small white dot?

The white dot right are the Tortuga Dominions. Can't find on sarna.net theyre related or something.

20 BattleTech books, zero clue where to start, guide a newbie

Dear community,

I recently bought a large collection of BattleTech Lostech novels, 20 (!) books in total! I’m now trying to figure out which trilogy or series I should start with.

Please don’t lynch me, but I used AI to summarize all the books and map out how the series and storylines connect to each other.

Still, I’d really like some feedback from the community! I’ve listened to a lot of lore podcasts, but I’ve never actually read one of the novels myself.

Which books or series would you recommend starting with to properly get into the BattleTech universe?

After burnout memories erased?

How I begin? I got burnout/depression about 26 years of age.

Recently I thinked about, which games I played as kid, teenager and adult. A lot between 20ish to 26ish I dont remember at all. But the kid/teenager years I remember clear as water. Memories of adulthood like its erased out of my mind.

After burnout I struggled a lot of forgeting, but after years got recovered good.

Question:

Do you also forgot a lot of your past after your burnout?

Do you think it’s a bad move to destroy old mechs for battlefield terrain/environment pieces?

I need an opinion from the community. On an auction platform, there are these mechs in the pictures. I don’t really like the designs, but they could have potential as destroyed mech battlefield markers. Do you think it’s a bad move to destroy old mechs for battlefield terrain/environment pieces?
