What's the easiest way to get BASIC from a text file into an emulator?
So I've got some old BASIC programs from books Sinclair books and magazines, and I've OCR'ed them to simple text files. What's the easiest way to get them into an emulator on a PC? Any emulator will do, I just don't know of any that will allow you to copy and paste...
Is paying MSRP normal these days?
I'm about to purchase a K4 LXS, and so far 2 dealers won't budge off sticker price (about $25K). Is that the new normal? I haven't bought new in 15 years, but I always got at least a grand or two off sticker back then...
Surely I'm not the only one who wondered why they chose Ford Prefect for their graphic?
New show on History channel called "Hazardous History", this is the thumbnail for an episode
Guess we're going to hear about those millions of Fieros exploding and killing entire towns... /s
Anyone into retro 3D modeling?
I found an old CD-Rom labeled Syndesis Avalon and the memories came back. I bought this for over $100 (might have even been close to $200, not sure) at SIGGRAPH in New Orleans in the 90s. It's a dump of 3D files and software from the old avalon.chinalake.navy.mil archive.
In addition to the software and documents, it's got hundreds of models in loads of formats - 3D Studio, Lightwave, POV-Ray, etc. Time to see if I can get some of the old rendering software working!
Anyway, I've ripped it to archive.org if you want to take a look.
Anyone familiar with "The Theme of Amiga"? I'm trying to match the signatures.
I found this audio CD - "The Theme of Amiga" "Back For The Future". It has 4 or 5 signatures on the jewel case; the one in the lower left appears to be Daniel Schulz, the composer, but I can't match the others to any names on the liner notes. Looks like there's a "Julian" and an "Isabella" at least. Anyone familiar with this?
Craigslist score - 100 CDs
A bunch of Fred Fish, Aminet, Walnut Creek, and other various CDs. Now I just need Aminet 24 with the last piece of the "t" so they'll look cool on the shelf.
My vintage sci-fi & fantasy collection, 1955-1981
I'll get rid of the 81 book when I need the room for something older.
One of these things is not like the others...
MSC couldn't make one that matched? I know, first world problems... :)
Early 1900s Through The Looking-Glass - any idea on the date?
This is a Thomas Y. Crowell edition. It looks to be newer than the 1893 "floral" edition, but older than 1914 (there's a "Dec 25th, 1914" pencil inscription). I've never seen this exact edition, would love to see if there's a matching Alice book.
Anybody have one of these and make your Apple portable?
From Nibble mag Feb. 82. Supposedly the internal battery would power the Apple (and I assume the monitor) for 2 hours. I'm guessing it bypassed the internal power supply. The only thing I can find via Google is the trademark and patent, so it may have been vaporware...
I don't know why this one had the title changed from Day...
