One Talaq given in front of imam
If I gave my ex wife one talaq in the presence of an imam, can my ex wife & I still get married again at a later stage?
If I gave my ex wife one talaq in the presence of an imam, can my ex wife & I still get married again at a later stage?
And why?
Assalamu Alaikum everyone.
I was talking to a friend who's preparing for marriage, and it made me wonder how much we actually learn after getting married.
If you could go back and give your pre-Nikah self just one piece of advice, what would it be?
It could be about communication, expectations, finances, family, deen, or something completely unexpected.
Hoping this thread can help those who are preparing for marriage.
Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I've noticed that many marriage-related discussions online focus on conflicts, problems, and negative experiences.
I recently started r/MuslimWeddingNikah as a small space focused on Nikah planning, wedding ideas, Islamic marriage advice, family-friendly discussions, success stories, and practical tips for couples and families.
If you're interested in sharing experiences, giving advice, or helping others prepare for marriage, you're welcome to join and contribute.
JazakAllahu Khair.
Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I often see people talking about wedding planning, finances, compatibility, family expectations, communication, and Islamic rights after marriage.
Looking back, what's one piece of advice you genuinely wish someone had told you before your Nikah?
It can be something positive, a mistake you made, something you learned the hard way, or something that made your marriage stronger.
Hoping this thread can help those who are preparing for marriage as well.
JazakAllahu Khair.
Married brothers and sisters,
If you could go back to before your Nikah, what is the one piece of advice you would give yourself?
It can be about communication, finances, family expectations, choosing a spouse, deen, or anything else.
Let's help those who are preparing for marriage learn from real experiences.

I'm genuinely curious about this.
Before getting married, what was the one thing that worried you the most?
Was it finances? Choosing the wrong person? In-laws? Compatibility? Not being a good husband/wife? Losing your freedom? Something else?
And looking back now, was that fear justified or did it turn out to be much smaller than you imagined?
As someone who hopes to get married one day, I'd love to hear honest experiences from people who have already gone through that stage.
I'm not married, but this is something I've been thinking about a lot lately.
Let's say you're in a stable relationship and you know you want to marry that person. The only issue is that waiting another 2–3 years would put you in a much better financial position.
Would you get married sooner and build your life together, or would you wait until you felt more financially secure?
For those who are already married, looking back, do you think waiting would have helped, or is there never really a perfect time?
I'd love to hear honest experiences rather than ideal answers.
Advice Request:
Would you personally postpone marriage for a few years to become financially stronger, or do you think it's better to get married and build your life together?
TL;DR:
If waiting 2–3 years would put you in a much better financial position, would you delay marriage or get married sooner and figure things out together?
I'm curious to hear from people who are already married.
Before getting married, did there come a specific moment when you thought, "Okay, I'm ready now"? Or did you still have doubts and fears right up until the wedding?
A lot of advice online talks about being financially ready, emotionally ready, spiritually ready, etc., but in real life, what actually made the difference for you?
Looking back now, was there anything you worried about before marriage that turned out not to be a big deal?
I'd especially love to hear from people who got married while still feeling uncertain.
Assalamu Alaikum everyone.
I'm in my early 22s and Alhamdulillah I have a job, but a big part of my income goes towards helping my family. I don't resent it at all because they've sacrificed a lot for me.
The thing I struggle with is this: when I think about marriage, I worry that I won't be able to give my future wife the attention, time, and financial security she deserves while also fulfilling my responsibilities towards my parents.
I know Islam places importance on both, but in practical life it feels difficult to balance.
For those who were in a similar situation, how did you navigate it? Did your spouse understand? Did you set boundaries from the beginning?
I'd really appreciate advice from people who have actually lived through this.
JazakAllahu khair.
Assalamu Alaikum everyone.
I'm in my early 22s and Alhamdulillah I have a job, but I also help support my family financially. Because of that, I keep delaying marriage because I don't feel "ready" enough.
I don't expect a luxurious lifestyle, but I constantly worry about whether I'll be able to provide stability, handle emergencies, and fulfill my responsibilities as a husband properly.
At the same time, I wonder if I'm chasing an unrealistic standard of being fully prepared. I know rizq is from Allah, but I also don't want to be irresponsible.
For the married brothers here, how did you know it was the right time? Did any of you get married before you felt financially settled? Looking back, would you make the same decision again?
JazakAllahu khair.
>Assalamu Alaikum.
I'm in my early 22s and Alhamdulillah I have a job, but I also have family responsibilities and I'm still trying to build stability in my career. Deep down, I want to get married and avoid unnecessary fitnah, but at the same time I don't feel like I can provide the kind of security I think a wife deserves.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm overthinking it and chasing an unrealistic idea of being "fully ready," because maybe nobody ever feels completely prepared for marriage.
For those who got married before they felt financially settled, do you regret it? How did you know it was the right time?
JazakAllah khair.
