AITAH because I got loud with a woman with Down syndrome?
Repost because I wanted to hear the world’s opinion.
Hi everyone, I’d like to hear your thoughts:
I was just taking the train home from work. Here’s what happened:
The train was filling up, and a colleague and I sat down in a four-seat section. Then a woman with Down syndrome came in and barked at us: “My seat! Go away!”
We got up and sat somewhere else. Then an elderly woman came in and sat down in the four-seat section with the woman with Down syndrome. She then became loud and threatened to hit the elderly woman. At that point, I’d had enough and told her very firmly that she needed to stop immediately.
I told her I would get angry if she hit the woman.
It went quiet around us. A few young women looked at me in shock, while the elderly woman told me that it was good that I had set clear boundaries.
I think so too, but I still feel like shit because I raised my voice.
The woman with Down syndrome then called her mother and told her that an angry man had yelled at her.
What do you think, Reddit? AITAH?
