As the title suggest I am looking to instruct a public direct access barrister for my child arrangement case.
There is strong allegations of domestic abuse from both sides and it’s gotten quite messy. A fact finding hearing is likely to be ordered and I can provide all evidence to prove I am innocent and these are false allegations. I think it would be better to instruct a direct acccess barrister to represent me in court.

As the title suggests, I am really struggling. I am a single father but in a way I am not a father as the mother has completly excluded me from my son’s life.
He was born in December last year, we seperated during the pregnancy. I was not allowed at the birth, informed 2 hours after he was born, seen him the following 2 days after the was born, was not allowed to even take pictures of him at hospital. I was not listed on the birth certificate and she was making it impossible to see our son. I went to mediation, she declined so I submitted c100 form. It’s now been 8 months and I have not seen him since and only spoken on FaceTime a handful of times. She is now ignoring all my messages for past 5 months. Hearing is soon and In her position statement with the help of her solicitor she has made some crazy false allegations, all of which I strongly deny.
I can’t afford legal representation so I am representing myself. Just wondering if anyone is open to looking over my case who has been through re something similar and helping a fellow struggling father. Also, if anyone had legal representation if they had used any that was well priced and helped them?

Just looking for more so some support. Me and my ex separated in her pregnancy, well she chose to leave and instead of me chasing like I always did I put my foot down and did not.
Despite this, I was still messaging her throughout pregnancy offering support and thought she would see sense and come back so we can have that family life we wanted. Loads of messages went unanswered and she did not let me be at the birth. I did attend a scan and she did not allow me to take a picture of the scan photo. I was informed by her mother 2 hours after he was born and I was not allowed to see him until the following day. When I did see him, I wasn’t allowed to take a picture and I went to see him the following day again and I took my parents and she did not let them meet him. She did not put me on the birth certificate and I applied for meditation which she did not attend and I then submitted a c100. We were FaceTiming occasionally entirely whenever she was free and it would be very short. Since March this year she has now ignored all of my messages which have been very polite and I used AI to make sure I came across well. She called in sick for first hearing and it’s been moved to August. My child was born in December last year and I’ve only seen him twice and probably only FaceTimed around 10 times. Even on my birthday she ignored my simple request for a short FaceTime with him.
This is a prime example of alienation and it’s shocking that she can get away with this

I had my transprk procedure a week ago, it wasn’t very painful at all. The doctor said he purposely left residual myopia and small astigmatism on both my eyes (left -0.75) and right (-0.50). Before procedure I was left (-5.75) and right (-4.25). His reasoning was that if he done any more it would take me below 400 microns and safety concerns. I had around 530 so already 130 was removed to get me to this vision. I also have the risk of my right eye being shaped fairly irregularly which he diagnosed as pre kerataconus.
I’m a little bit confused as during my consultation he didn’t tell me anything about leaving residual prescription. When I asked him to do the full prescription his response was ‘I’m an eye surgeon, I know more than you’. I fully understand this but if I’m paying thousands of pounds to get good vision will I be able to get 20/20 vision or better? The doctor did reassure me by saying dw you will have excellent vision and he said if cornea remains stable he will do a top up session free of charge. I feel like he is just saying this. I only picked prk as I was told it was safer to do for my cornea situation. I’m on day 7 and don’t have anymore pain or discomfort. My vision is still extremely blurry and although I can ‘see’, nothing is crisp yet. Do you think this could be due to the myopia he left or is still early days for results to come through?

As the title suggests, has anyone had a transplant for the crown/mid section using mixture of beard and head hair? I’ve got my second transplant in November for that area and I’m thinking my doner area is quite limited so they have said they may use beard hair. My native hairs are quite thin but my beard hair is a lot more corse and thick. Just wondering how yours have turned out. My crown is completely bald pretty much so I was hoping to take 2000 from native hairs on back/side of head and then hopefully another 1000 or so from beard.

Hoping someone could advise me on this. I am on direct pay child maintenance and I have never missed a payment thus far. I’ve been paying it for just under a year now. I have been given a lump sum of around £6000 cash from my parents. I would like to pay this into my account and pay off more of my mortgage. My query is will CMS know about this and will the amount I pay my baby mother increase?

Hope someone can advise me. I am keen to have laser eye surgery. I have went to 3 reputable clinics in the uk and all of them agreed my cornea especially the right eye although the thickness is fine for laser, the shape is irregular. They can’t say definitely if it is kerataconus as they don’t have no past history to compare it to. 2 clinics have said Lasek would be fine and the other has said icl or smile with cross linking. Smile with cxl is so expensive at around 8k in uk. There is one I saw which is called transprk with cxl which is around 5k. The only difference I have been told is the recovery period which will be tough but I’m willing to suffer it to save thousands.
My eyes have stabilised and myopia is around -5 and -6 so fairly strong.
So my question is do you think I should just get Lasek done for around 3k with no cxl or get transprk with cxl for £5k? I think I’m seating towards the latter as it with future proof me. Happy to share scan images if that helps. Many thanks all!!

Has anyone had laser eye by Optegra in the uk. They have a campaign where I will get £300 off and you can get £200. Is anyone willing to be part of this with me. I’m thinking to get lasek done within the next 2 months.
Side note, for those who have had it done by Optegra what was your overall experience like?. I don’t have kerataconus (thankfully) but my right eye especially the cornea shape is irregular so they have asked I come back in to run a few more scans. A previous doctor has recommended any laser corrective surgery should either be SMILE or ICL, not lasik or lasek so whist unsure what to even do if I qualify for Lasek with optegra.

I’ve been a landlord for past 3 years. Everything has gone pretty smoothly and tenants have been fantastic and paid on time.
They have 4 people living in the flat now, up from 2 and I have only increased rent a measly amount as they have always paid on time. The water bill for 2 people was always high and it’s just now it’s around £90 a month for a flat which just seems extorniate and they have queried this with me recently.
As a good landlord, I called up water company and they came to check and confirmed there is likely a leak but they couldn’t investigate properly as they couldn’t locate the stop tap. I called a water leak specialist and they will be coming this week to find the stop tap and also any leaks.
My question really is if leak is within my property I would hold responsibility? But what if leak is not within my property and is part of the building- who then would be responsible for this and how would I go about sorting this out? The building management are pretty useless, I asked them a simple question of where the stop tap is and they couldn’t even help and just said it’s my responsibility.
Has anyone come across this and how did you go about it. Any advice would be appreciated

Just for some context I have filed the c100 and went to mediation which the responded (mother ex partner) refused to attend. I done this in Jan 2026 and hearing was meant to be for May 11 2026 but on the day my ex called up to say she’s feeling ‘unwell’ and it has been adjourned until August 2026.
Our son was born December 2025 and I have only seen him twice in person at the hospital, nothing since then. She didn’t put me on birth certificate, excluded me from attending scans, didn’t allow me to be at birth, I have asked to see son but she ignores me, she’s told me she’s moving but doesn’t tell me where. Since March 31st she hasn’t replied to any of my messages of FaceTime/contact. So yeah, the picture is I have been excluded from being there for our son. She suffers from Mental health issues and gets pip and of course with her being a new Mum, I think she’s used these to her advantage to have the case adjourned. I filed the position statement and provided evidence but she has not filed anything to court or to me so that could be another reason why she cancelled the hearing.
So my question is what can I do? I’m self representing myself as it’s too expensive. Do you think the court will look unfavourably to her cancelling and not proving any evidence? And she is ignoring all contact and not seeing my son is really hurting me

As title suggests how did you coparent after this. What advice do you have and how can I do this successfully? It is currently very bad and she is making contact very difficult hence why I have taken her to court

Just looking for some advice really on this. I am in the process of taking my ex to court to get a child arrangements order. For some context our son is only 5 months old. Since we ended our relationship during the pregnancy, she has largely excluded me from all scans, I wasn’t allowed to be at the birth, wasn’t listed on birth certificate. When I saw our son at the hospital for first time, I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of him and I took my parents with me so they can meet their grandchild and she did not let them see him. Since then, I have tried to be maintain contact but she has mostly ignored all my messages and I have only seen him once in 5 months… I requested mediation but she refused so I filed the c100 and am in process of taking her to court with hearing coming up soon. I reckon I have a good chance of being able to see our son as I have filed a lot of evidence of her trying to exclude me and I’m just seeking contact, not overnights yet as he is still so young. My ex suffers from mental health which she’ll likely use as a reason for her behaviour.
Long story short how can I coparent with such a person? I know this makes me sound selfish but there’s been days I have thought I’m going to walk away but I can’t do that to my son. I just know she’s going to make my life hell.
Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated
