To make transactions safer for both buyers and sellers, we are introducing an official Escrow Service through the subreddit moderators.
💰 How it works
Buyer and seller agree to use the escrow service.
The buyer sends the payment to the designated moderator/admin, who will hold the money until the transaction is completed.
The escrow fee is chargeable and will be decided by the moderators based on the product price and type.
Do not ship the product until the moderator confirms that the payment has been received and is being held.
Before shipping, the seller must record a clear video of the product being packed and sealed. The video should clearly show the item and its condition.
The seller ships the product and provides the tracking details.
After receiving the package, the buyer must record a continuous unboxing video, showing the package, shipping label/seal, and the product inside.
Once the buyer receives the correct product and the required verification is completed, the moderator will release the held payment to the seller.
📹 Video Requirement
Seller: Record the complete packing/sealing process before shipping.
Buyer: Record the complete unboxing process immediately upon receiving the package.
These videos may be required to resolve any dispute, so do not skip this step.
💸 Where does the escrow fee go?
None of the escrow fees collected will go into the pockets of the moderators.
The funds collected through the escrow service will be used for r/IndiaBuySell subreddit-related purposes, such as:
- 🎁 Community giveaways
- 🛠️ Subreddit improvements
- 📌 Community initiatives and activities
This is intended to keep the service community-focused rather than generating personal profit for the moderators.
⚠️ Important
- Escrow is optional, but recommended for high-value transactions or transactions involving users you don't know.
- Never ship an item until the moderator confirms that the money is safely being held.
- Never send payment directly to the seller if you are using the official escrow service.
- The escrow fee is separate from the product price.
- The fee will depend on the value and type of product.
- Buyers should not open the package without recording the unboxing.
- Moderators will review available evidence in case of a dispute before releasing the funds.
📩 How to use the Escrow Service
Contact the moderators through Modmail before making any payment or shipping the product.
👉 Do NOT DM individual moderators for escrow. Use Modmail so there is an official record of the transaction.
Use Modmail → Explain that you want to use escrow → Provide the transaction details → Wait for moderator instructions.
