App won’t let me log first period

I came off hormonal birth control exactly 30 days ago. I actually had an ovulation on around day 18 or 19 (could tell by mucus and symptoms I usually get around ovulation) and have now started my menstrual cycle. However, the app only gives me the option of withdrawal bleeding. I’m pretty sure it’s because my Apple Watch does not take good temperature readings so the app hasn’t acknowledged that I’ve ovulated yet. I know my body and I know that my cycle came back fairly quickly the first time around because I was only on a progesterone only pill. Is it technically still considered a withdrawal bleed even though it’s been 30 days later and I ovulated?

Lunch ideas for no microwave or fridge

My 15mo starts daycare in two weeks and I need ideas for the main course for lunches. The church doesn’t use a microwave and the fridge is limited to milk so I’m pressed for ideas that I can pack with an ice pack. He usually eats fruit and Avacado and goldfish, but refuses to eat meat or anything extra chewy so we resort to protein pouches a lot. I’m not sure if peanut butter is okay yet, but if we can’t pack that, then that also limits us. I’ve made pizza roll ups and sweet potato pancakes and he likes those, but I want to add more variety to his food.

Positive story for people worried about stopping bc

I have been on the mini pill on and off for most of my adult life. I can’t take estrogen due to migraines. I learned a few years ago my body does better off birth control, but because I had such a bad postpartum experience and was so afraid of getting pregnant again, I started the mini pill again. It was a mistake. I had inconsistent bleeding, heavier periods, I was angry and depressed and had so much brain fog. I just assumed I still had mom brain 14 months ppd. Well, I decided to stop the pill 2 weeks ago and I literally feel like a brand new person. My libido is back, my discharge is back, my brain fog is GONE. I feel energized, less angry and less anxious. I feel like I’m more in touch with my body as well. I also get cystic acne on birth control and stopping also makes it go away.

Unable to get in touch with Graduate Advising

I have been reaching out to my graduate program since the beginning of July with no response. I’ll need to defer if I don’t get information on what classes I can enroll in. They don’t offer the classes I need during the second 8 weeks of the semester either. My classes are due Monday since I’m on an assistance program.
I really don’t care if I end up not taking classes at this point, but I didn’t know if this was normal for the graduate programs??
Ever since I enrolled in ODU, it’s been one roadblock after another (I.e. random holds on my account that pop back up after they’ve been resolved, etc).

Stopping slynd after terrible side effects

I made a post about two weeks ago asking for people’s positive experiences on Slynd. I started it about 9 days ago and I am in an AWFUL state. A few days in I began to get headaches, feeling dizzy and ears ringing. Ive also had SEVERE insomnia. I get bouts of insomnia every once in a while (probably cuz I’m perimenopausal) but then I take a hydroxizine and sleep through the night. The hydroxizine has not touched this. I have had terrible dreams. I’m constantly dehydrated (I know it’s a diuretic so I’ve been drinking tons of water and electrolytes), and I’m overall out of breath. Last night I stood up and almost blacked out so I’m stopping it today. I think my body is just way too sensitive for synthetic progestin.

Magnesium glycinate 200mg - should I increase?

I’ve been taking magnesium bisglycinate 200mg for years now. It doesn’t do much for my sleep or nerves, but it HAS kept me regular (even if that’s not the intended reason for taking it). The brand I take says it’s “highly absorbable,” it also says “Magnesium bisglycinate chelate buffered and magnesium oxide.” Maybe the oxide is what’s keeping me regular. I know that 200 mg is only like 40% of daily value.
The one time I upped to 300 mg, I noticed I actually got sleep (could be coincidence), but wondering if I should just up the amount I take?
Doesn’t anyone else need to take more than 200?
Should I take a different form?

Good experiences on Slynd

My doctor suggested I try Slynd since I can’t take estrogen due to migraines. I’ve been on norethindrone for six months, and it has given me irregular and heavy bleeding. I’ve also had terrible mood swings and weight gain.

I read that Slynd can also cause irregular bleeding. Did anyone have a good experience on this type of birth control?

Weight gain on mini pill

I am on norethindrone for the 3rd time in my life. The last time I stopped it was because I had bad acne and I knew it was making me moody.

I can’t take combo pill cuz I have migraines.
I’m a little over one year postpartum and started the pill about 5/6 months ago.

When I’ve taken it in the past, it stopped my periods. Now, my periods are heavier and I feel like I’m pmsing all the time. Since I started it, I’ve been all over the place with my emotions and I’ve gained about 5-10 pounds.

Normally, I don’t gain or lose weight. Even when I was pregnant, I didn’t gain much weight. I haven’t changed my diet and I’m probably more active than I have been in some time.

I’m thinking about stopping again but wondering if people actually gain weight on the mini pill?

EDIT: I am NOT one month postpartum. I am 1 year. Goodness gracious. Oh, the pill also makes me really foggy and like I have ADHD lol

Slate (?) slab with design. Found at home built in 1918

We found this stone at my in-laws house, built in 1918. At first we assumed it was a headstone or grave marker, but now we aren’t so sure. No names on it but some type of design.

Normal iron but low ferritin

I started having symptoms a few weeks ago of feeling fatigued, not sleeping well, weight gain but no appetite, dizzness, irritability etc.

In the past, whenever this happens, I check my thyroid and iron. I also am on a birth control that has disrupted my cycle, 1 year postpartum and almost 40 so there are various other things that could have accounted for this (just as a disclaimer).

I got lab work done. All my thyroid bloodwork was actually perfect for once. However, I got my iron back today and while my iron and iron saturation were within the range, my ferritin was low (around 25). I assume this is the reason I have felt funky, but wasn't sure if there was scientific evidence that one could have normal iron and hemoglobin but low ferritin.

My new pcp told me all labs were normal …

Vaccine Catch Up

Please no judgment.

I had been doing a very delayed vaccine schedule with my baby because I have anxiety about vaccines. I have an older brother who, in the 70's, had seizures following vaccines (my mother speculates), and he has been developmental delayed my whole life.

I was not raised anti vaccine and I received all my immunizations. I am also not anti vaccine. I am just afraid. My whole life, I have heard my mom talk about how alert and bright my brother was until he got sick.

My son is now 13 months. We were hoping to get him caught up on everything this summer and decided to go every two weeks to get shots (with obvious spacing between specific doses i.e. Heb B is every 4 weeks). My pediatrician approved the catch up schedule I made and thought it was very reasonable.

But now I'm worried about getting shots every two weeks. Is this too much for a toddler? Is there any danger to going every two weeks as long as i'm spacing out specific doses? My son has never had a reaction or a fever or anything.

UPDATE:
Thank you to everyone who approached this with kindness and also made me feel a lot better. Obviously, anxiety doesn't mean the thing I'm afraid of is actually real, but it helps to have people who can hold my hand. Being a mom is the hardest thing I've ever done.

The overwhelm of vaccines.

I wouldn't consider myself full crunchy. Maybe a lil chewy. I'm trying to navigate all the conflicting information out there and I'm simply overwhelmed.

On one hand, I work in research at a medical school. I personally see on a day-to-day basis how arduous it is to get a research project approved and up and running. I also am constantly bombarded by more progressive messages around vaccines.

On the other end, i have an older brother who was a perfectly healthy and alert the first few months of his life, suddenly become the opposite after receiving vaccines (at least my mother suspects). He is now almost 50 and has never lived independently.

So you can see where my confliction lies.

We are starting daycare in the fall and have been following a delayed vaccine schedule (and also have chosen not to give certain ones, i.e. Hep B.) Our daycare requires all the state mandated vaccines and we have contemplated just submitting a religious exemption.

I'm not sure the purpose of my post, other than looking for advice and understanding from other mothers who have to navigate all this stuff.

I feel it's important to protect my child and I'm also mad that I can't at least make some of my own choices in my own time without being mandated to do so.

Prednisone symptoms AFTER stopping?

So I was prescribed a high taper dose of prednisone to a sudden/new allergy to hair toner (yay). I was told to take 60 for 3 days, 40 for 3 days and 20 for 3 days.

I am VERY sensitive to medications. Most of the time i choose not to take anything and all doctors that know me know I basically work under the therapeutic level of any drug. I did some research before starting this and learned it was a high dose (was told this by the pharmacist as well) but after talking to a few people, i was told it was fine, i shouldn't have any side effects.

Well, I started on 60 and it made me feel so nuts and i had terrible insomnia. The doctor told me, "Yes, it was high" and that I could drop down to 20 a few days followed by 10. So I took 20 two days and then 10 two days.

I'm so glad i cut down, because 2 days after stopping I cannot sleep, have had hot flashes, adrenaline rushes and heart racing. I'm wondering given how sensitive my body is, if I still didn't taper slow enough (even though everyone said I don't need to taper on such a "low" dose).

Is this normal for stopping prednisone? I guess my cortisol levels need to reset or something, but I can't deal with lack of sleep another few days!

Hair toner or bleach trigger

I got my hair highlighted and toned at the roots over two weeks ago and ever since, I’ve had terribly red skin, and burning cheeks (and ears at night). At first we treated it like an allergy so I took some steroids and that didn’t help. Now I’m starting to wonder if I’m having a big rosacea flare. Any moisturizer burns and makes it worse. Can hair color cause a flare? My normal triggers are cold air or certain face washes.
