So, it begins in Georgia. Measles is beginning to make a comeback in Georgia.

You don’t know how stunning it is for me to witness this day in America. I remember being taught in schools about the efficacy of vaccines. One of my friends is an anti-vaxxer and deeply anti science. I sent him scientific articles and research on vaccine efficacy and the fact that no evidence linked vaccines to autism. In fact, all of his objections were specifically and explicitly addressed in the scientific research. He rejected them still as propaganda.

May God help us. I couldn’t believe his reaction. I was shocked. I was stunned. In America we are freely deciding to reject science and literally destroy our society.

What happened? How did science become seen as no more authoritative than a tweet or social media post?

He then asks me how could I, a devout Christian, put so much confidence in science. What’s ironic is that he himself is not a practicing Christian nor does he appeal to religion for his anti vaccine views. He just appeals to endless conspiracy theories about how scientists lie, we have all been lied to, the earth is flat, etc.

The kicker is this - he is a teacher! Yes, a teacher. He is in fact a great teacher. Awesome at teaching.

We really need to turn things around.

God help us.

I actually used that phrase yesterday to someone visiting the office where I work and immediately thought about Chris saying that to the folks he caught 😳😂. I think that’s literally where I got the phrase from. LOL!

Have you ever found yourself using phrases from Chris or the show in totally normal situations?

Have you ever had a similar landing? How hard was that landing? I know not being in the plane and in that situation you can’t say for sure but if you had to guess, how hard do you think it was? Or is that fairly common and not that hard.

I often wonder about these situations. Sometimes I wonder if it’s like driving a car in the rain and having to come to a quick stop on a winding road or something similar.

I knew if I were in that plane I would probably throw up 🤢 😂

Edit: Just to clarify, I mean hard as in difficult or challenging for the pilot to land

The officer asked me for my license and just told me it was expiring soon. However, he didn’t run it. He just looked at the license, looked at me and sent me on my way.

So, I am wondering if they were really looking for someone else or maybe had specific things in mind other than a Road or Vehicle Safety check.

No one would to do their own child what folks think God will do to folks in hell.

When I ask ETC people that point blank and they never say yes. The most they have done is try to change the question, answer a different question, or say they are not God.

One tried to say they would kill their own child if their child were doing a bunch of evil. First, that’s not the question. The question is would you torment your child for all eternity not whether you would kill your own child. (Notice he couldn’t even conceive of tormenting his child for all eternity.). Second, the question doesn’t assume they are committing genocide. Suppose they want nothing to do with you but are otherwise a nice person?They know exactly who you are but don’t like you. Would you torment them for all eternity for such?

No one would do that (eternal conscious torment) to their own child. That should make them think. The Bible says our parents would desert us before God would desert us. What mother would torment her child for all eternity?

If you ask someone this question, only ask folks with children and ask it about their own actual child. Folks without children can conjure up all kind of idiocy since they have no experience with the love of parenthood which is deep and profound.

They know. We all know deep down inside that God is love.

If you have ever asked someone who believed in eternal conscious torment if they would do that to their own actual child if they indeed have a child, what were the responses you received?

I can’t put that game down. I am so glad a Konami soccer game is on the Switch 2. When I score a goal it feels like I have earned it.

At any rate, the game is so fun. I love the speech bubbles during the game, the fun UI, the presentation and the game modes.

In the International Cup, my first goal (pun intended LOL!) is to win it all with the U.S. I am also loving World Tour. It’s a bunch of mini seasons and I love adding folks to the roster.

It’s really a great game.

So to be clear I am not a DBA. I just maintain our organization’s data warehouse. For aeons (at least 12 years) I have wondered why I could use variables in a view and I just mourned the absence of that feature and was frustrated I had to code hard values all over the place in a view.

So this week I asked ChatGPT what is the solution for views to have a value that you don’t have to hardcore all over the place. So it suggested functions. Blew my mind. Then, I discovered you can actually feed it values and whatnot and have it perform logic. OMG! One field with 40 lines of case logic just got shrunk to 4 lines.

I am now like a bat out of hell. I am putting functions all over the place instead of hardcoded values. Then, with the function, you make changes in one place and it’s done.

I am in heaven. I need a minute 🥹🥹🥹

This along with my other discovery a while ago of CTEs is revolutionizing my database coding.

As I said, I am not a DBA so I am sure that for many in this subreddit this is old news. But for me this is just awesome!

How else do y’all use functions?

Right now my city is at around 2,500 population. How large have you gotten your city on the Deck and it was still playable at around 30fps?

I didn’t even think it would work on the Deck and surprisingly it did. I will see how large mine can get.

Having fun with it though.

When driving a car there have been a few times when I have been alarmed or startled for example if another car does something erratic that seems like it might endanger me. So I am wondering have you genuinely been alarmed or startled while flying, to an extent that you were worried or concerned. Wha happened, and how did you address or resolve it?

To me Flau’jae and Olivia Miles are the real deal and seem like ballers out there gate. Who else do you find impressive here in the early going of the season?

When the new trains launch, will they tell us what time and at which stations they will start service?

I just spent 3 hours playing all 3 games with 75% of that time playing Dead Cells. I just discovered Dead Cells about a week or 2 ago. Now I can’t get enough of these types of side scrolling 2d roguelike or roguelite games. Dead Cells to me now is one of the best games ever made, period.

Astral Ascent is also fun. Dead Cells all of a sudden has me loving such pixel art games whereas I typically am a graphics focused person and like realistic graphics. Now, Dead Cells and Astral Ascent got me hooked,

Any other such great games in this genre? I want to have a list and get them when I finish these 3 or so.

Where has this game been!? Wow! It’s awesome. The gameplay, the progression, the power ups, the enemies, the stages, etc are all golden.
