How am I doing

I’m 43, have £27k in my Nest pension, 1 year of nhs pension contributions at approx £60k salary. My pension plus stocks USA and other bits totals about £60k. I own my £300k house but still have £180k on the mortgage. Have two kids, single (co parenting) mum. I’m under no illusions that this isn’t a great position. I left my husband who earned three times me and my 9 year mortgage and big house a few years ago but I’m happy. I save about £250 pcm but much of it gets eaten up by life (car servicing, house repairs, minor holidays with kids etc). I do intend to earn more but the market is hard right now and my kids are young. I will earn more in the future though. I have no proposed retirement date. I’d just like to go part time when I’m older. How’s it looking, what could I do to swing things in my favour?

Still heart broken

A year ago I (40sf) (permanently separated from 20 year marriage for 2 ish years now) met someone special. He came from nowhere and was very intentional about wanting a relationship. I was in a Fwb thing at the time with somebody I had dated before. The new guy was long distance and younger than me and told me he loved me quickly. It was a lot only a year after leaving my husband

I asked my then Fwb if he was serious about me and the answer was no he didn’t want a relationship so I explained I was calling it off to pursue one. The problem is the young guy let me down often by not showing up and cancelling plans. He has kids, I have kids and we live in different cities. I came to understand it was genuine but still hurt a lot and left me feeling very lonely.

My old Fwb was still in the background although he was dating and we’d meet occasionally platonically for cake in a coffee shop for example - mainly because my bf of the time was rarely around. I never perused it and frequently said no but occasionally I’d say yes and we’d just go talk.

By Christmas things came to a head and my bf dropped out again for our weekend only telling me late the night before (which was classic behaviour) which led to not seeing each other for a month over Christmas (a time of year I find very had and lonely). In steps ex Fwb who wipes my tears and over several weeks pursues me. Eventually I call it off with bf to pursue relationship with Fwb who by now has become somebody too special to cut out of my life and I would have had to do that . We’ve been together 6 months, known each other a year and a half and are slowly falling in love. We spend time together and have had great times. He shows up for me and I’m learning how to let go post a long difficult marriage and the damage that does.

I still see my ex bf because my kids go to a sports thing he runs. My ex husband likes him, my kids like him. We don’t talk at all but occasionally he txts and I try to close it down until this week where he phones me up to tell me he loves me. It has been 6 months and honestly I love him too but he let me down and in an non sexual way I cheated on him with my buffet bf right at the end and I don’t want a long distance relationship like that and more importantly I love my current bf too and hope to be together forever. Over the last few months my ex bf has done some toxic stuff like posting status updates of a girlfriend he didn’t actually have just to hurt me. He can txt me love hearts but he can’t look at me when we are in a room together. I don’t entertain any of this I just ignore it but it hurts.

Last night I called him for the first time since the breakup to ask him to stop contacting me. It felt like a breakup all over again. I’m devastated.

My current bf is like my head - I love him and it’s steady and calm and consistent. My ex is my heart. He’s my soul mate. He’s done some shady stuff since we broke up but I get it and I love him. I’ve made the right choice but my soul hurts, I’ve let go of love to pursue logic and sense. I guess I learned my lesson from my marriage but it hurts so bad. Objectively I’ve done the right thing but why do I feel so rattled?

Saudi Arabia more progressive than parts of the USA!

A country which only gave women the right to drive a car in 2018 and legally required women to wear the Niqab until very recently have significantly more progressive abortion rights than some states of the USA. I’m not sure but I’d bet that sex outside of marriage is illegal in Saudi yet they still give women more autonomy than Texas. That is the terrifying truth of Christian fundamentalism.

specific medical or therapeutic grounds. According to Saudi health regulations and Islamic jurisprudence (Sharia), a pregnancy can be terminated if it protects the woman's life, her physical health, or her mental health, or if there is severe fetal impairment. [1, 2, 3]
The legal and procedural framework for medical-need abortions operates under strict criteria: [1, 2]

Gestational Timeframes (The 120-Day Rule)
Under 120 Days: Termination is permitted for a broader range of justified reasons, including protecting the mother's physical and mental health, or cases of severe, incurable fetal impairment. This timeline is based on the Islamic concept of "ensoulment". [1, 2, 3, 4]
Over 120 Days: After 4 months, the law becomes exceptionally restrictive. An abortion is only allowed if continuing the pregnancy will directly cause the death of the mother

Hi all, where is the best bar to watch England vs Ghana tonight? Somewhere with some African vibes could be cool because the Ghana gang were awesome at st Marty’s when the women played. If not just big screens and easy to get space and see screens

If you believe in manifestation why are you using it to get shallow things?

Genuine question from somebody who believes in manifestation to a point. I believe we are in a negotiation with the universe which is on your side but answers to competing forces. Billions of souls are manifesting against each other. E.g. you manifest your ex back but she manifests a new bf and new bf manifests her. You can’t win that one. The universe responds to energy and greater forces dominate weaker forces.

But if you guys are right and you can truly create your own reality how come so many people ask for an ex back, to be taller, have more hair, win the lottery? If your manifestations are this powerful why not solve wars, end the climate crisis or basically do something good for the world which will naturally bring people places and abundance to you? Why so shallow if you truly believe? It just seems self limiting and faithless from the outset.

Help with handwriting practice

Hi everyone, my 10 year old has been accepted for the queue for autism assessment. She’s struggling with her handwriting which is illegible. I notice my brother (who is autistic) has very similar writing. My daughter is aware of the problem and frustrated but getting her to do her homework is so hard and often ends in tears and chaos despite me putting no pressure on her to do homework.

Can anyone suggest activity books where practicing forming letters and words is made more fun. She’s very smart and has no trouble coming up with the subjects to write about. It’s holding the pen and forming m letters and basic spelling

Any tips
