BeoSound 9000

BeoSound 9000

My wife has been hauling this thing around with us from house to house. Finally got a power cord for it and plugged in some speakers. (Don’t flame us for the CDs it’s all we had kicking around)

Started researching this thing and came across this sub and eBay listings.

What do I have here?

[OC][Canada ]

Speeding through a playground zone and cuts into the lane. Passed so close I could feel the air it moved. Best part was the fact that he couldn’t remember 90 seconds into the past where he passed a cyclist. Goes to show you that no matter what you’re invisible.

Van Almost Hits Nephew [BC, CAN]

Biking in a bike lane up a hill. Myself then my nephew then my wife behind. White van pulls into the lane between myself and nephew to drop someone off. Wife says they almost hit me and came within inches of nephew and then proceeded to tailgate them as they went up the hill. Need to get a rear camera.

It’s not perfect but it’s better than it was

Two rounds of equal part water and vinegar plus some dish soap and a brush on a drill.

Gave my Commuter a "Transmission" Upgrade

2022 Specialized Crossroads 1.0. Bottom of the barrel bike that I bought to get into cycling and bike commuting. 7-speed 11-34t with a 42t chainring.

I have been humming an hawing about getting a new bike because I felt I needed more gears because I was failing out on some 10% hills on my weekend outings.

Ended up swapping the 7 speed for a 10 speed MircoSHIFT AdventX 11-48t and a new 40t chainring.

Now on hills where I wish I had a bailout gear, I have three! Can't wait to try some of the hills that I used to walk up because I just ran out of gears and gas.

$225 in parts and tools instead of $2000+ for a new/used bike.

What is the Etiquette?

Painted shoulder bike lane on each edge of the road. Lane markings indicate that they are one way bicycle lanes. You are meant to go in the direction of traffic on your side of the road.

Lately I have been coming across a couple different groups of users coming the "wrong way" towards me. E-Scooters, Electric Mopeds, mobility scooters and bicycles.

What's the play? Stay the course and make them move into traffic? Move out of their way?

Been getting more and more frequent.

[Canada][OC] U-Turn Into Right Turn

I guess once you’re no longer in their line of sight you stop moving and don’t exist. If they had the right turn signal on sooner I would’ve braked. Thought they were going to continue straight. Will avoid U-Turning idiots in the future.

Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit - I shouldn't qualify but I am getting a payment.

EDIT: Looked deeper, they are BC Climate Action Tax Credits that were transferred to CGEB probably because my wife filed a bunch of back taxes this year.

I haven't received GST in well over a decade because I have always made above the threshold.

I logged into my CRA account because I got a scam text and wanted to be sure that there were in fact no messages waiting for me in my portal and saw that I had an upcoming benefit payment from the CGEB for $312.80

Our Household income for 2025 was 150K, there is no way we qualify for this.

What gives?

Play in Cassette

Took bike to LBS to replace previous wheel that was broken.

I believe the new wheel supports Shimano HG Cassettes.

However the LBS transferred my Sunrace cassette onto it.

Now it has this play to it and I sometimes loose the chain between the cassette and spokes. If I tighten the limit screw even a bit it won’t shift into the biggest cog.

Does this cassette need to be tightened or do I need to swap to a Shimano cassette.

Day I bought Her vs 4 years later

I bought this bike four years ago today to get to work. Rode it sporadically till October that year. Then she never came out of the garage until June of 2025. It’s been almost a year of straight commuting and I don’t think it’s ever going to stop.

Always Help Out a Cyclist in Need

I don’t usually take this route home. I was filming a commute route for my mother who is going to start bike commuting soon. Worked out alright.

u/Sierra93 — 3 months ago

Was testing a route out for my mother. Hopefully this doesn’t happen often…

Wait till there is room to clear the intersection before proceeding..
