High Quality, well researched documentary / docuseries such as The Keepers etc.

Hello,

We recently watched The Keepers and we loved it! We are looking for something of a similar quality based on Epstein with in depth research. Current stuff that we have watched and absolutely loved:

Tower (2016)

The Keepers

O.J.: Made in America

Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy

Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror

Don't F**K with Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer

Tiger King (Season 1)

Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist

Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer (Its good, but not amazing exactly)

Fahrenheit 9/11 & Bowling for Columbine (Lots of Micheal Moores Stuff is actually quite good to watch honestly.)

It doesnt need to be about some specific topic, just very well made. But we feel there must be some extremely good, to the point, Epstein related series somewhere, please let me know what you guys might recommend.

If you guys can think of something other than Epstein as well, please recommend it as well.

Extremely Beginner friendly RTS

Hello, my wife has a very bad motion sickness, and cannot play FPS for more than 15 mins. She plays mostly mobile games and is currently playing Last war and I want to introduce her to RTS. We tried Red Alert 2 as I am very familiar with it but its a bit old and she found a bit overwhelming, I was thinking CoH but thought it might be too complicated for her. What is a very very simple RTS that I can introduce to her that she might enjoy and has a good campaign story?

I asked Gemini and it responded with. Tell me what you guys think and if you have any good very beginner friendly RTS, please let me know:

  1. Halo Wars: Definitive Edition (or Halo Wars 2)

Why it’s perfect for beginners: Originally designed for consoles, Halo Wars was explicitly built to eliminate RTS complexity and "clunkiness."

Mechanics: Base building is simplified into preset building slots, unit controls use a clear rock-paper-scissors system, and army management is smooth and uncluttered.

Story: A cinematic, Hollywood-style sci-fi narrative that is easy to follow even if you aren't familiar with the main Halo lore.

Bonus: The entire campaign can be played in 2-player co-op, allowing you to play through the story together and help manage the base if she ever feels overwhelmed.

  1. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (Free-to-Play)

Why it’s perfect for beginners: StarCraft II has arguably the smoothest, most responsive control engine ever made in an RTS—units move exactly where you want them without getting stuck on terrain.

Mechanics: The "Wings of Liberty" campaign is widely considered the gold standard for RTS onboarding. It introduces one new unit per mission, slowly building up complexity so she never feels lost. Setting the difficulty to Casual makes enemy attacks minimal, letting her focus on building at her own pace.

Story: A high-stakes, space-western story. Between missions, you walk around your flagship, upgrade units, and talk to your crew in an RPG-like hub, which breaks up the strategy gameplay nicely.

  1. Northgard

Why it’s perfect for beginners: It trades fast-paced clicking for a slower, zone-based expansion system. There is no frantic unit spamming or sudden enemy rushes.

Mechanics: You expand your Viking settlement territory by territory. Villagers automatically gather resources or do assigned tasks, which takes away the stressful micro-management of traditional RTS games.

Story: Rig’s Saga (the single-player campaign) acts as a gentle, story-driven tutorial that teaches one clan’s mechanics at a time through an engaging mythic Viking revenge tale.

  1. Age of Mythology: Retold

Why it’s perfect for beginners: A modern remake of a classic, featuring updated controls, beautiful visuals, and modern UI enhancements.

Mechanics: It features an "Auto-Villager" toggle (you can tell the game to automatically manage resource gathering), which removes 50% of the usual RTS multitasking burden.

Story: One of the most beloved RTS campaigns ever created. It follows an Atlantean hero journeying through Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology, featuring mythical monsters, god powers (like lightning strikes and meteor showers), and legendary heroes.

I liked The Last House

Believe me, I don't have terrible taste in media in general but I think I am so starved for a good new apocalypse movie that I actually really like The Last House. Not saying it's without its faults (terrible acting, odd ending, weird jump cuts) but I think I kind of liked the idea since it was a bit simple but still apocalyps based so .. I enjoyed it

What can I do to make myself more competitive in current market and future job security?

I have 9 years of experience as a Full Stack dev (JS/TS) and I can work well enough with DevOps side of things as well, but I recently have gotten extremely scared of AI. I know people will say "its just a tool". You are correct, but thats the issue, YOU are correct. Most middle management / C-Suite doesnt care because they dont usually care about Tech Debt, good coding standards, and having proper base until unless they have Chernobyl level disaster on their hands. All they care about is the shares price go up. They will throw us into the grinder in a minute if it profits them a penny. I am not looking to make a million bucks a year, I just want something very stable and very boring even, something I can use so I can have peace of mind and start a family with stability. I know people will mention government and defense. I wish I could but for those you need clearances and I am a foreigner in Spain (DNV), so probably wont be getting those anytime soon. Please let me know what your thoughts are. Anything that might help me would be appreciated. I am considering pivoting towards Solution/Enterprise Architect, but not sure where to start. Let me know thanks!

Best way to play C&C Generals?

I know there are many mods that modernize Zero Hour and make it look great but what about Generals? I am only interested in single player campaign since I remember I never replayed them more than once. So if anyone can recommend me what is the best way to play them on a 4K TV screen, please let me know. Thanks! i know game is locked to 30FPS, which I guess is fine, I didnt mind it in Tiberium wars / kane's wrath so I am OK with it.

Re-edited: I feel cursed

Since 2020, I have left 1 job and have been let go from 5 others due to lay offs/project shutting down/ project completion/ unrealistic expectations. I am so tired now. My CV reads like a disaster. I dont even remember anymore what it was like to be stable. Whenever I now get hired, I am just saving up for the next firing. Almost all of my past employments had complains with me, not good enough, doesnt put much effort.

Now: I recently got hired for a new startup. Only me as a dev, I was promised its a permanent role. We let go of a contracting company that had basically zero care for the code base. I came in and fixed everything. I worked remote with meeting personally with my boss every now and then and for 5 months, I handled everything. Worked late nights to push for prod. My boss even very happy with me. Admired my hard work and stuff. But now, I am being told the project has run out of money and I will be let go on September. It broke my heart. I was planning on going to Spain with this job on a Nomad Visa, so I can settle down there. But now, it seems like a dream. For 5 years I have been trying and for the first time I felt connected.

Even though it was not about my performance, I still feel like a failure. Like I didnt do good enough. Now the whole dance and song of fixing CV, applying for jobs starts. With around 8-9 years in, I am so tired of this all. I was suppose to be settled by now. I feel I am still in the same quagmire that I was in when I came here. Every time I think of taking care of myself and my health, it blows up in my face. I believed that maybe its just my field, but I see other devs working same as me, for same companies for so long.

Maybe I am just cursed. I dont know if someone else has gone through the same as me, if so, please tell me how you recovered. if someone can help me get a remote position for now, I would be extremely grateful. I can work in any timezone and have my own setup for a B2B contract. So you wont have to worry for stuff. You can reach me in private for my CV.

Which Men of War game should I start with as a beginner and in what order should I play them?

https://preview.redd.it/e7aeavot6kch1.png?width=815&format=png&auto=webp&s=893dca3ab5f80db53d34ab9c1afecbba33ab3782

Which of the men of war games would you guys recommend to a complete new beginner? I played Faces of War I believe 12 years ago or so when I was young but didnt get too far. I tried Assault Squad 2, but it didnt have any tutorial levels and gave up after getting overwhelmed. I also prefer cinematic cutscenes and story campaigns (not something outstanding but something that keeps you going). So which one I should start and in what order should I continue? Which one you think are the best and which are the worse? Let me know thanks!

Good RTS with good story campaigns?

Hello everyone, I grew up playing RTS games and other RTT games as well. I have played C&C whole series (After RA2), Company of Heros 1 & 2, Going through Starcraft 2 Recall, Starcraft 1, World in Conflict, Commandos 1 and 2, Age of Empire Series complete, Age of Mythology (didnt like it much), There are Billions, Halo Wars, Dawn of War 1. Wanted to play 2 but heard it doesn't have save game and no base building so was put off. I once played Men of Honor game that had a campaign and I couldnt find it anymore, the mission started in market garden, it was great too. Someone recommended Act of War so I am going to be trying that. I dont mind if they are not TOO old like Red Alert 1 and the such. I like RA2 (its my favourite actually) art style. I am mostly looking for games with good story lines. I also played Total War and for some reason, really loved Attila and not others much (probably cause of how buggy they were). So please recommend me RTSes old school and new. I am waiting on Dust Front and am also planning on Starship Troopers. I want to ask what you guys think of Warno vs broken arrow? I reminisce about World in Conflict and how good the campaign was and heard they were a bit similar. Never found anything like that again. I am also planning for Tempest Rising once they release the campaign for the 3rd faction (I hope.)

Why are we not fighting back AI like the design, arts and writing community is fighting it?

I dont get why are we just accepting our own replacement without raising any voice or concern? Blender recently integrated MCP so Claude can control it, there was such a huge backlash, they walked back on the money they received from Development funds to 1 time fund. Why arent we as software engineers unionizing against this? Why are we letting corpos keep pushing us out at the cost of environment? I keep hearing the notion "Well its smart enough but not enough to replace me", OK? Now something that used to take 5 people takes 1, its great that you are not gone yet, but there are many others, younger generation that is being left behind now. Who will replace us when the time comes?

Honestly, F*** LINKEDIN! Why do we still put up with it!?

FAKE COMPANIES AFTER FAKE COMPANIES! Just trying to harvest as much of your data as possible. My whole job feed is field with these companies:

speechify

tether(.)io

Hired

micro1

Hired Feed

Toptal

Crossover

PulseMediaNL

devjobs

mercor

braintrust

bruntwork

virtusa

TALENTMATE

ParamInfo

Keystone

Joveo

Quik

twine

proxify

Taskify

Referral

Crossing Work

And they keep on changing their GODDAMN NAMES every Tuesday intentionally to trick people into applying! Searching for a job has become more than a chore! Like it wasnt already tough in this market and now we need to be careful as to what jobs to click and what jobs are just bait to fetch more of my soul? I have reported these companies to LinkedIn REPEATEDLY! NOTHING! But GOD FORBID I use some automation to streamline my job application process! BAN! IMMEDIATELY! I want to go back to Indeed and other job platforms days where you didnt get spammed by these garbage companies. We need some form of regulation against this to stop companies from data harvesting our CVs. This is insane! Is anyone else is facing this? or am I just unlucky for this? If anyone knows how to clean up my feed, let me know.

Why no one has ever been able to make a GTA V even after a decade?

Forget GTA 5, even GTA San Andreas or GTA 3 even for that matter. Why? Why nothing has ever come close to that smoothness or feeling of freedom? I know about Far Cry, Saints Row, Just Cause, and Cyberpunk. Some of them were great in their own ways, but none has ever been able to come close to what GTA is and some are utter garbage or just... clunky to play ever if they are great. I dont understand why that is. I have picked up GTA 5 multiple times and just recently decided to finish it all the way and try everything it had to offer, but for some reason there are games like GTA, Half life, Skyrim that no other game gets close to surpassing or even coming close for that matter. I am currently trying to build a game that has a benchmark of beating Half life 1 in all its benchmark. Obviously graphics is not an issue or requirement what I am talking about is just sheer fun I had playing it. And its not nostolgia either.

I never ever played MGS, but when I recently played MGS 1 recently with emulator on the phone I was absolutely blown away by how smart the game is even with primitive graphics and other short comings by today's standards. Its like the game has a soul. Yet so many others nowadays dont. Sorry for the rant, let me know what you guys think if you have any thoughts.

INSANE PET FOOD PRICES!!!

HAS ANYONE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS? AM I LOSING MY MIND!?

We have a golden retriever, 3.5 years old and we buy his royal canin 12kg for a month. It used to cost 352-400 Max. Now? I am seeing prices such as 630+ or simple "out of stock"! I cant find anything on noon.

This is stressing me out as me and my partner are currently going through a bit of financial constrains and we only have 1 pet that brings us happiness in these hard times and I am not sure what else to do. If someone knows some shop that does home deliveries and isnt charging through the roof, please let us know. we like in bur dubai area. I will try to reach out some websites that I saw that still have stock (or atleast the website says so.)

Do you guys ever doubt yourself after a failed round even if you have lots of experience?

I have 8-9 years of experience especially in FE I just had an interview in a Fintech, and it was FE related. I thought I'll knock it out of park. In my view it went well. I had hiccups during testing phase. He even said you will mostly get next round 4-7 days. I was looking forward to it. They even kept downloading my CV on LinkedIn. But now I got a rejection letter and I feel kind of devastated.

No matter how many interviews I give. It never goes away
