The hostels (from what I've seen on the internet) don't appear half decent. I was wondering if there's some decent 1rk options nearby and if freshers usually go for something like that?

Id appreciate if someone could also give a ballpark figure for the expected rent, although I don't mind spending extra for better quality of living.

Also, if anyone other incoming freshers are interested in sharing a 2/3 bhk, do reach out!

I've been shortlisted for the iim mumbai bs program's interview (gen male, 98.1 %ile in Jee Mains). I was wondering how we should go about preparing for the pi?

1. Is the hiring at pilani comparable to top 5 iits?

2. Do I have a shot in the slightest if I'm from goa/hyd?

3. Would an msc econ/math/phy 5 year dual degree (+BE cs) give me an edge, in theory at least, over normal cs grads?

I'm a potential incoming cs fresher. I've been in a bit of a dilemma between rvce cs and bits goa msc math/phy (+be cs if I get 8+ cg in 1st year)

The only real pro of rv which I see is being located in blr (money is not really an issue). However, I'm a a little confused about what the tangible ways in which that could benefit me look like? Can someone pls give examples from their experiences to elucidate?

The JEE advanced 2026 results were declared recently. Following which, several students detected a recurring anomaly in the marks of students uploaded to a public database. Many people have a difference of more than 100 marks in their scores in the first and second paper of the examination (note that this is one of the toughest exams at the high school level in the world and there is no justifiable reason for someone to be able to do so well in one paper but fail to solve a single question in the other since both of them have similar formats, syllabi and difficulty levels). I have attached some of the anomalous scores in the first image.

The director of IIT Kanpur (via X) and the admissions team at IIT Roorkee (via email) have disregarded all allegations of cheating taking place by saying that the chebyshev inequality explains this deviation from the mean score in all of these cases (considering there are close to 60000 qualified candidates). I have also attached their responses.

My question now is that does this explanation hold or is it just a way of covering up? Any insights from someone who can explain the statistics would be greatly appreciated by my contemporaries and I

what would you guys recommend, setting personal preference aside?

I have a LOQ 15IAX9 - Type 83GS. the trackpad stops working periodically for absolutely no apparent reason and starts working again after an arbitrary number of driver re-installs. this has been happening for months and the trackpad does start working again every time but its incredibly annoying.

has anyone been facing the same issue? if yes, is there a permanent fix you have found? could this be a hardware issue i should get checked?
